In 11 years Pakistan has regressed by returning home to empty stadiums and placid pitches.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi were perfect surrogate homes with excellent curators; it was a peak setup.

Did IPL colonising UAE force Pakistan home?.

There was no rush I think and there was a serious vibe, forced or otherwise.

Don't care whatever he did, at end of the day , he was chucker.

And then he said he should have taken legal action against the ICC for banning him for chucking. Yes, a thief should have the right to take legal action against the police for catching him while stealing.

Lol nation of bhaju and Ashwin crying chuck. It's 5gst shy DRS used restorative justice when he had Tendulksr in a state of vertigo.

Array!

Thread is not about Ajmal's action.

Let's talk about Pakistan in UAE

Boy did Pakistan miss out.

Our test bowling line up could have been this in 2012:

Amir
Asif
Ajmal
Yasir

This could have been comparable in talent to Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Saqlain.

Alas we never got to see either bowling attack really live up to their potential in any capacity.

A genuine Matchwinner the game owes so much to him, even world class batsmen were hesitant to face him in his peak days

A genuine Matchwinner the game owes so much to him, even world class batsmen were hesitant to face him in his peak days

There was a reason for that. Other bowlers didn't enjoy the liberty that he did.

And then he said he should have taken legal action against the ICC for banning him for chucking. Yes, a thief should have the right to take legal action against the police for catching him while stealing.

Bhaju and ashwin are not chuckers lol.

Bhajo and ajmal were clear chuckers, Ashwin is borderlien but if n=tested, I am very doubtful that he going to pass it.

Ashwin? Can you name me one player, ex player or commentator who has questioned his action? Or is it going to be the same, 'They are scared of BCCI'?

Bhajji had a dodgy action, but then again he was never questioned by the umpires.

Although he was a chucker, but a legal action made sense.

ICC was giving these bowlers leverages, so if ICC wanted to ban them they should had banned them immediately after 2011 WC or 2015 WC, not mid way.

Pakistan had a team set, and than ICC suddenly wakes up and decides that the bowler they claimed was not a chucker was now a chucker. The issue was ICC was not consistent with its laws. Because he was tested by ICC and they said he was not a chucker.

So Ajmal was right in saying that he should had sued ICC.

bhaji was clearly a chucker, Ashwin is borderline, But Ajmal bolwed and allowed by ICC and so bhajji so we cant say their wickets or bowling was not good.etc, so he chucked no chucked, he took wickets per ICC rules and was banned per rules.

Who said so apart from Pakistani fans?

Ajmal had zero basis for taking a legal action. The only thing it would have achieved is financial loss on his part.

You need to understand that the ICC can - and will - only test bowlers who are reported by the umpires. They will not pick on players randomly and have them tested.

Ajmal was first reported in 2009 but he cleared the test. However, his action deteriorated significantly over the years. Just because he was cleared in 2009 it doesn’t mean he was bowling with the same action in 2014.

The English commentators talked on his action during the 2012 series in UAE but the umpires didn’t report him because they didn’t think there was anything wrong with his action.

The writing was on the wall for Ajmal when he played County in summer of 2014. I have never seen a worse display of chucking, it was like he didn’t even care. He was literally throwing the ball and the English press, including former and current cricketers like Vaughan and Broad were calling him out.

His action in the summer of 2014 was the worse it has ever been and it was obvious that if he were to bowl like this in international cricket, he would get reported and that is exactly what happened in the first Test in Sri Lanka in August 2014.

ICC tested him in 2009 and in 2014 under the same laws. There was no inconsistency in their application. The only thing that changed was Ajmal’s action.

Watch his highlights from 2009 and from his County stint in 2014 and first Test in Sri Lanka in 2014 and tell me if you think he was bowling with the same action. He clearly wasn’t. It was considerably worse in 2014.

Besides, there is no date/time on which it would be more or less reasonable to test and ban a player. The umpires can report and the ICC can take action on that reporting regardless of it is before, after or in the middle of a World Cup.

What next - don’t ban players before a big Test series? Don’t ban them before the Champions Trophy? There will never be a good time to ban a key player. His test results came out in September 2014 and the ICC were not going to say that well there is a World Cup in 5 months so let’s wait. That is absurd.

Brother, Ajmal was chucking way before 2009. IN domestic cricket it was known he bends it. THe chucking was there in 2009 and in 2014.

I am not even aruging that AJmal doesnt chuck, he chucked since domestic.

Issue is, ICC cleared him in 2009 but banned him later. Why? Not because a player was chucking suddenly, ( even hafeez was chucking aswell), but becuase of a policy change that I think was favoured by Anil Kumble who was part of ICC.

Thing is, there needs to be consistency and not some randomness. If ICC wanted to be strict with their chucking policy all of a sudden, ok fine. But do it at the right time. Not before the world cup but after it.

Pakistan prepared a whole team, suddenly in mid 2014 ICC changes its policy and decides to ban playersr because they realized that oh the leverage we were giving for the sake of it needs to stop.

Ajmal should had either been banned in 2009. And if they allowed him to continue than the policy change should had either been after 2011 or after 2015 world cup.

Policy changes need to be implemented at the right time.

The 15 degree limit was enforced in 2003. The rules were not revised between 2009 and 2014. There has been no policy change after 2003.

Ajmal was tested under the same conditions and rules in 2009 and 2014. The only difference was that his action was a lot worse in 2014. He would have been banned in 2009 with his 2014 action and survived in 2014 with his 2009 action.

ICC is neither lenient or strict with chucking. It is a very simple process. If an umpire reports a bowler for suspect action, the ICC will test the bowler.

There is nothing subjective about the interpretation of the test results because it is a numbers game. Leniency or strictness doesn’t apply here. All bowlers have to bowl within the same degrees and the same margin of error is provided to all bowlers.

The umpires will report a bowler whenever they think that the bowler is bowling with a suspect action. They will not say that oh wait, there is a World Cup in a few months so let’s ignore and report the bowler after the World Cup.

When a bowler is reported and when a bowler is tested has nothing to do with the cricket calendar, when the next World Cup is, what series is being currently played etc.

No team deserves this leniency. It is the job of the cricket board to take internal measures and regularly monitor the action of those bowlers who have been on the radar of the umpires.

If PCB were sleeping, it was their problem not ICC’s. After all the publicity that Ajmal got for for his action in County in May-June 2014 and the way he was bowling, it is was completely stupid of PCB to not take corrective measures and not address the issue.

Instead they completely ignored it and picked him for the Test series in Sri Lanka in August 2014 where he was reported by the umpires.

Ajmal was chucking since domestic cricket, its not like he was not chucking in 2009. If it was than he would had never had an issue reverting his action back.

I have met with former domestic players that played with Ajmal, and they all said that it was well known in domestic he was chucking. Him and Adnan Rasool were famous for it, but ICC had bend the rules.

You are gonna tell me that Hafeez was chucking but not Ajmal was not in 2009.

There was a policy change by ICC.
Are you going to tell me that before the july of 2014 the likes of Kane Williamson, Mohammad Hafeez, Prsper Uteseya, Sohag Gazi, unil Narine, Mohammad Hafeez, Adnan Rasool, Suryakumar Yadav Prenelan Subrayen, Sachithra Senanayake and Ajmal were chuckers. But after july 2014 they became chucker's over night?

You know what happened before July 2014? The ICC Cricket Committee meeting, that took place in June of that year. It was in that meeting it was decided they will clamp down on chuckers. Thus, they had a change of policy and encouraged umpires to report them more.

Even Clive Lloyd questioned the crack down back in 2014. Teams had already been preparing for the world cup, and mid way ICC decided to change the policy.

Cricket Australias chief back than himself said it was a revamp of ICC that caused this, https://www.cricket.com.au/news/cri...lly-edwards-icc-chucking-crackdown/2014-10-30

THus, it was never that these bowlers were not chucking before and started chucking after, but it was more about change it ICC's policy and attitude.

Point is, the timing was wrong. PCB did not complain and infact went with it to the point that they had about 16 of their own doemstic bowlers banned after testing them out.

But ICC's timing was wrong and PCB should had taken the issue to court that when the ICC itself allowed us, why make these changes right before the world cup? Pakistan suffered because of this, as they had to source two new bowlers due to a policy change of ICC. Pakistan's strategy was attacking with Ajmal and having Hafeez bowl as the fifth bowler, which is very crucial.

I was in favor of the policy change, but it should had been after 2011 world or after the 2015 world cup. Not 6 months before the tournament.

There was nothing wrong with the timing. There was an ICC event every year between 2009 and 2017 and after that at least once every 2 years. No matter when the ICC brought it, you would hear complaints about bad timing since there was an ICC event within 12 months of the event.

The 2014 World T20 spurred ICC to action because Sena, Narine and Ajmal were chucking horrendously throughout the tournament and were making a mockery of the chucking rules and were taking far too much advantage of the leniency shown by the ICC.

Watch that last over Ajmal bowled to Finch and some of his deliveries to West indies in the tournament. Some of the worst examples of chucking probably in the history of cricket.

at the time, the concentration was on the world cup of odi, thus timing mattered. You cant have one policy and than change that policy whenever you like. The policy should had been changed after the world cup.

WHere did i said he didnt chuck? I have said it many times, that ICC should had banned these bowlers right after 2011 world cup. If not than it was there own mistake and should had banned after 2015.

People give alot of leverage to ICC and dont critisize them for this
