Aaqib Javed speaking during an interview on a TV show:

“One option for captaincy is Mohammad Rizwan, but the way Fakhar Zaman is performing, when we think about captaincy, especially in the context of ODI cricket, it's important to note that he has had really good performances. Babar Azam has also performed well, and so has Fakhar Zaman. In the World Cup, the problem we were facing was that the best player was rested, but even now, if Fakhar opens, he’s your best option. Across all of Pakistan, if there’s anyone who is the best white-ball opener, it’s absolutely him. So, you can think about him as an option.”

“Why don’t we think about him? He thinks aggressively. If you look at him recently, he’s improved his communication a lot, and he thinks about things with a lot of clarity. So, we can go out of the box right now because Fakhar Zaman hasn't been part of this captaincy race. You can consider Fakhar Zaman for both T20 and ODIs. Shaheen Shah Afridi has been disheartened, the same thing has happened with Babar Azam. Does anyone really understand what's happening with Babar Azam right now?"

Afridi has been disheartened due to babar.but why is babar disheartened exactly? Is it because kirsten thrown him out of captaincy role?

LOL, I don't see Babar's troll army on X these days. How their 'King' is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yes, both Shaheen & Babar are disheartened because they got free ride since last 3-4 years without any performance. PCB & fans must send bouquet of flowers to these guys everyday and request them not to get disheartened. They should be allowed to play for next 10 years without any accountability.

These ex players and their personal connections also have some role in destroying the career of some cricketers

It's a game of runs and wickets and neither is doing their job. Babar needs to lose some weight( just looks to be carrying a few extra kilos) and SSA needs to stop load management and play FC and get bowling. Same applies to Naseem and Jamal.

Rameez, sethi, zaka and naqvi all messed up.

What these guys did was gonna affect the morale of the team.

I wont blame the players for the losses. Its the pcb set up that caused alot of these problems

The players at the end of the day are responsible for their performances. They are responsible for their controllables ie hard work, fitness work, diet plans, technical work in the nets and during the off season. What happens in the board is none of their business. Players are ultimately responsible for their performances.

The players in the 90's had to deal with even worse public pressures and interference from politicians, board officials but they still maintained their individual performances.

you are right. But in any sport team morale gets affected when you have a captaincy, coaching and selector changes taking place.

Like you have a management that decided lets bring back Amir and IMad because the social media fans like them and when they play a role in losing you important games, the already existing members of the team get affected by those losses.

PCB of the last 2-3 years has made blunders of decisions.

It does not matter who is disheartened but the way they took captaincy from Shaheen was very awkward. Shaheen's form is pretty bad atm but I don't think this dip in form is due to that captaincy drama.

That’s exactly why he should be the right choice

In any other setup, yes. In the PCB, however, it will be difficult. However, the only time where Fakhar may survive and come good as a captain is with Kirsten somewhere in the setup. Any of the Pakistani coaching tullas and it won't work.

True to an extent but I do not completely agree with this. What happens in the board is definitely their business because they are the ones impacted. Captaincy, player issues, politics all have played their part. Agree, players had to remain fit, they had to work hard, but that comes with a culture. When you have clear direction and coaching, you can thrive.
What we see now is not a year old problem. This had started atleast 5-6 years back. I am not blaming anyone, I don't even know who was at helm - there have been so many :)
However, I do believe that senior players like Babar et all could have shown the way, may be. Team culture is missing in the camp, and that reflects on the field too

These guys talk about sports like its soap opera. Jazbati non-performers need a kick, not pampering.

Right after this interview, he dropped Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He came, he saw, he conquered.:waqar
