Definitely looks like one to keep an eye on. Great name aswell.

Somebody mentioned on one of the YouTube comments that he's Riaz Afridi's brother.

Looks fast and tall

Is he the same guy who was in zalmi's squad last season?

Goodness.Another left armer....

Which match is this BDW? Is he currently playing in U19 or this is an old video?

He played a few U19 matches for Pakistan according to Cricinfo. He's still 17, the video was posted in April, looks pretty recent.

Pakistan keep producing bowlers left and right and, here across border, we are struggling to find one after Zaheer Khan.

Wow he looks quite good. Tall, and a nice action.
Thoughts Chief Destroyer

It's not much of a sample size, but yes it looks like he has potential. I imagine he is one of the bowlers Mudassar Nazar was mentioning when he said “We have few youngsters in our national junior squads (U16 and U17) who are really quick but we have to wait for while to see them at their peak.” If so, this should hopefully mean he will be getting the necessary support/guidance.

On a side note, is it just me or does it look like the video has been sped up? That run up seems way too quick.

He isn't a bowler, he is an all rounder.

Would love to see him, Hasan Mohsin, Saif Badar, Agha Salman, Sahibzada Farhan and the likes picked up in next years PSL.

Another lefti, but looks great potential. Probably 6'2"+ with a nice, smooth action - he should be fast & able to lift from good length. He reminds me of another U19 kid - Jamshed Ahmed, not sure where that kid is driving taxi or changing engine oil now. I saw Riaz Afridi (his brother?) in U19 from close up (& almost got dropped from my seat to know that he was 18) - if this guy is genuine 18, definitely one for the future.

I hear Haroon Rashid - only can remotely trust in that draft model for FC revamp is few like this kid gets 6/7 matches. It's not being one of 20 in a squad to carry gears for 40 years old buzurg, it's about playing matches & playing on proper role - that's 20+ overs of bowling in a complete innings if the kid is a bowler or bat in top 5, if he is a batsman.

This is a 17 year old good who looks promising - check the clips :

Anyone from Pakistan or the mods such as Saj heard about this guy?

I am NOT saying he is the next great thing -just saying that he LOOKS promising.

he looks like starc built runup and action also
Very clean bowling action. Can be developed into a phenomenon

Smuggle some of these young guys to IPL and give them nationality in India. Too many will never get a chance to play in Pak team.

“I have discovered a few brilliant players here, who will be an asset to the national team. I am quite sure that Shaheen Shah, a 17-year-old tall lanky left-arm pacer, who is already producing speed of 145km per hour, will be very soon in the national team, as he is bound to be a huge success. I can see future Wasim Akram and Aamir in the youngster, who not only bowls with pace and venom, but also has very sharp mind and utilises his pace to the best of his abilities and his bouncers are highly unpredictable. He is a natural talent and with the passage of time, he will be a world class bowler.

“I can see, Shaheen will soon join the national academy in Lahore
. I have had only picked Shaheen, but also find right-arm fast bowler Sarmad Riaz and slow left-arm spinner Umar Khan highly talented, while I can feel that I have around 10 to 12 highly brilliant and talented bunch of players in the camp, who, if provided with facilities and proper patronage, can become match winners and take Pakistan cricket to new heights,” he maintained.

Wahab Riaz also have pace, but does this Shaheen kid have variations? And can he swing the new ball?

He is quite tall and there's definitely a bit of Starc in that action.

His action is a bit like Irfan's.

Also yet another Left-armer. What are they putting in the water in Pakistan? :D

He's got more clips on his facebook account. He might just be the next fast bowling sensation, clearly got all the ingredients. I'm excited. :wasim

Get him in. Looks something special.

He will learn more in international cricket than in domestic.

Found this pic. Not sure how recent it is.

I presume his height won't be a problem! :) Junaids

Am I missing something? Are people rating him based on one delivery? Can we at least see an over of him bowling.

Got 29 wickets in 4 matches in PCB_regional_district_u19.
Brother of former Pakistan pacer Riaz Afridi who was the hero of u-19 wc 2004.

Video of Riaz Afridi.
Riaz Afridi vs Umar Akmal when Akmal used to smash fast bowlers for fun. Aqib Javed rated Riaz as the next big thing and called him even an better seam/swing bowler than Asif. Unfulfilled talent :( hope he had reduced his weight :(

Longest vid I can see so far.

Action is probably more closer to McGrath that Strac. In Mirror image, that front arm & front leg movement will look like Mac more than Strac. Only issue is Post #49 - in general fast bowler reaches top speed between 23 to 25 & probably best as an over all package in between 2/3 years either side of 29, and by 35 - they retire. More or less, the actual gap between 23 & his current age is the biggest factor where eventually he'll reach. Otherwise, really impressive.

Everything about him - highlights, U19 stats, and opinions from coaches show he's the real deal.

Should be fascinating to watch him develop.

Really excited to see him progress a long the system. From the looks of it, he has it all: Height, Pace, and bounce! Only thing left to be scene is, can he swing/seam the ball? Has he been clocked at 145kph?

Yes, and also be fast-tracked into departmental and regional domestic teams.
Ellipsism can this guy be a good player for Pakistan in a few years?

After my tweet I had:

An Islamabad United coach message me about Shaheen
A SSGC coach message me about Shaheen
The Peshawar Zalmi owner message me about Shaheen

What they saying.

Wow this kids looks like some prospect~ fluid action, athletic, at least 6 8"?
Has his speed been tested? Not sure we can say he is 145kph/90 mph without a test.
He looks fast though!

Get him in the camps with a view of him being ready for wc 2019

I watched some of his videos on fb. Interestingly he can swing it back to RH.

The Googly also deserves a mention.

Looks superb this kid.

I know it's only a few clips and it's difficult to judge from that, but he looks quick, athletic, aggressive and a superb prospect.

Fantastic prospect. Needs to be nurtured and persisted with.

yeah agree ~ but he needs to be nurtured in the national team set ups and given meaningful opportunities~ I don't buy the give him a few years in club cricket crap.
If he s good enough he s good enough

If he s good enough he s good enough

If he's good enough, he's old enough

Absolutely. He should also benefit from exposure to quality international cricketers in the PSL.

There is a danger of over-hyping him. Bear in mind only a tiny proportion of promising youngsters make it at the top level. So, it's best to be cautious and see how he develops.

However- I understand the hype to some point. He really does look a real talent. Inshallah he will make it.
