[VIDEO] Shoaib Akhtar mocking Pakistani Players Over Their Age in Comedy Nights with Kapil

All the indians claiming that Pakistanis can't take a joke forget when Nasser Hussain called the indians donkeys on the field (granted it wasn't a joke). It really riled up the indians including shastri and there was even a video of these indian guys throwing a poor donkey off a bridge to it's imminent death.

Fact of the matter is that it's not just a Pakistani problem but a desi problem.

Jokes on a comedy show cant be taken by a few Pakistanis is equal to Some Indians being riled up by Nasser calling Indians donkey(Which you accept wasnt a joke).What is the point of that post of yours?

there is difference between saying things in comedy show and commentary box....and mind your language he never said this he actually said indian fielders at that time we had senior team
 
This is in poor taste. I know it is supposed to be comedy show, but you cannot make fun of your team in other nations. Just like Indians don't make fun of their representation team in other nations. Whatever you do in your nation is different, but mocking your own team in India where Pakistan is hated the most, and it is not ironic that everyone in that show was laughing at the misery of Pakistani players including former Pakistani cricketers. I guess Shoaib Akhtar doesn't realize that the show is laughing at Shoaib Akhtar for being joker too. :sanga

Pakistani team is not my favorite team nor is the captain of Pakistani team, but i am not gonna ridicule Pakistani team in Indian forums. You can do that at your own forums, but not at neighbor given its friendly affection for Pakistan. Shoaib Akhtar made the whole mockery about Pakistani team while the whole India nation resorts to full-scale riots 24 hours if any foreign element don't recognize their Godfather of Indian Cricket.

As someone said, this is a desi thing. How dare XYZ mock our superstars that too in an enemy country or how dare you mock our stars on your TV programs!! More than the ordinary people, its the TRP hungry news channels which drive such outburst , like in this case.

Absolutely hilarious stuff! I see nothing wrong with this except making fun of poor Ijaz Butt but other than that it was all light-hearted stuff.

Akhtar should have said narrated that story about Sachin shaking with fear when facing him, that would have really gotten the people laughing... At his death. :irfan

I now understand why shoaib was staying away from girls in the show. He knows the desi mentality of making a mountain out of a molehill. And its proved here by some of the fans here from both sides.

Ok, this kind of comedy maybe more popular in Pakistan and North India. But down here in the South, we use our brains for comedy rather than use slapstick. Also Shoaib making fun of the way a handicap guy walks was in poor taste. Moreover, Shoaib and the host were laughing too hard it looked unnatural. And they had a laughter track in the background to boot too. Harbajan didnt look too amused whereas Sidhu will laugh for anytihng. :)

Maybe you didn't see the clip properly. Umar Sharif is hurt because of Shoaib Akhtar's comments, nothing else. There are Indian youtubers which always put clips up on youtube whenever Basit Ali says something against India, so there watchers of the programme in India.
 
Personally I found the show absolutely hilarious, I watched the whole episode twice! I love Kapil Sharma and CNWK, and Shoaib Akhtar was brilliant.

Don't understand why Umar Shareef and all these people are after Shoaib Akhtar so much. Kamran Akmal is talking about the lack of test matches Shoaib played for Pakistan. Does he know about Shoaib Akhtar's career injuries? Basit Ali is saying that everyone drops catches, how many other keepers have dropped as much catches as Kamran?

Umar Shareef also does mimicry, in fact in his own show he has done it. So if Shoaib did it then what's the problem?

These ARY News people are targeting Shoaib Akhtar because he does analysis for the rival TV channel, Geo News and that's it.

Umar Sharif is definitely overreacting on this occasion but Kapil does indeed copy Umar Sharif and other Pakistani comedians.

I was replying to the poster who said Umer Sharif blasted copy cat Kapil.I was reacting to that.To say Kapil copies XYZ is wrong.The concept is based on a popular show Kumars of street no. something and that definately was not a Pakistani programme.

Some of his jokes and in fact even his style is from Umer Shariff.

He himself said that he is inspired by Pakistani comedians.
 
Quite strange how India restricts actual cricket games with Pakistan, and their players from the IPL, yet they seem happy to have singers, cricketers and actors over there on their tv shows and films. Why the double standards?

Because PCB said in 2009 that India is unsafe and Pakistan foreign ministry withheld permission.After this if snyone believes that GOI and Bcci will humour PCB and Pakistan govt.then they ate dreaming.

India is unsafe, these sort of comments are traded back and forth between the boards all the time, it doesn't mean that they have to burn a nation indefinitely. When other sportsmen are still able to ply their trade in both countries, it seems odd that only cricket is used as a political hostage by the BCCI.

Which other country has refused to send their team to India?Please name them.

Pakistani hockey players and Kabbadi players are also not allowed in the Indian league.

If any individual Pakistani comes on his own well thats his wish.
 
Absolutely ridiculous from this idiotic moron. You all might say it's all in good fun because its just a comedy show it was a for a little bit than he went way off board to make fun our cricketers English , Batting , Fielding, Coaches and Management and everything he could think of trying to please Indians by complimenting there every single thing like we've never beaten them in a match. It goes both ways. Pakistanis said the same when vaughan tweeted something about indian cricket team. I don't remember now but they were asking indians to take it as a joke and now its vice-versa with pakistani fans. I think joke doesn't sound like a joke when its on you. lol is this the same Umar Sharif who was there as a Guest Judge in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge which Kapil Sharma won? There he was praising Kapil. He even made fun of his fellow Bakra Kishto Pe artists in front of indian contestants.

I only saw a 3-4 min clip and all he was doing was making fun of Pak cricketer's English. I have two problems with that.
1) the smaller one being that his English is ok at best so comes across as a bit hypocritical. but its fine tbh
2) the inferiority complex it entails. As if speaking English is some big achievement. I don't know when subcontinent will get out of this slave mentality.

also what I noticed is that he fudged up facts to make up a story of inzy obstructing the field and being given out. Firstly, the first incident he mentioned was a couple of months before against England in a test match off a throw by Ian Bell. But he made it seem like as if India also played a role and the obstructing the field incident happened the next match. Secondly, he claims that India was winning 3-0, 4-0 that series 'like always.' Infact, the obstructing field match in Peshawar (?) was the first match of the series which Pakistan won so dunno where he got this from.

Is the rest of the show along similar lines too.

One thing Ive noticed is that Indian cricketers do have a tendency to make up stories as they go along. Or atleast mix a couple of incidents and merge then in one which is convenient for them. I remember same things happened in Sehwag (or yuvraj?) retelling of some 'baap baap hota hai' comment whereas there was no match which corroborated with his story.

Anyways I know its prolly in light hearted mood and I should reserve judgement till I watch the whole thing but if Pakistani players get bashed for stupid, immature comments so should he,

tbf it was most likely by him because he did not want to create needless controversy as ppl in Pakistan want to get involved with everyones business. what most likely would have happened is that some no-name reporter of a 3rd grade paper would have written a poor article on it. Then some low quality channel would pick up that story and it would get attention and then the mainstream channels would pick it up and make life hell for Shoaib for a few days

he likely didn't want to put his new wife through it
 
Ok last night I ended up watching the whole show and have reevaluated my opinion. In the 2 clips id watched of a a minute or so each I had gotten a bad impression which was probably shaped by what I read here too. I'll admit it was all lighthearted and while most of the jokes, if not all, were at Pakistan cricket team's expense I didn't get the impression of there being any malice behind them. Ofcourse some jokes would have been best avoided and were a bit crude and tasteless but that's the risk with comedy.

My general point abt Shoaib Akhtar playing for the galleries and changing his tune and opinions according to the situation still stands

Karachi: Maverick former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's remarks mocking the state of affairs in Pakistan cricket on a popular Indian comedy show have evoked angry reactions from ex-players and officials here.

Akhtar appeared with off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on the 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' show in India and some of his stinging remarks about the state of national cricket and his making fun off a former PCB head have not been well received in Pakistan.

"I don't know why he was so critical about Pakistan cricket on an Indian channel because I know that he is a patriotic Pakistani when he played for the national team," former Test pacer Sarfraz Nawaz said.

The Comedy Nights with Kapil is equally popular among Pakistanis and while it commands high ratings across the border as well, the Akhtar-Harbhajan Singh show in particular got top viewership.

"It is unfortunate that our former players behave like this while in a foreign country. What has Akhtar achieved by demeaning our cricket system and officials like this? Was it his way of trying to become popular in India," an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board told PTI.

"The way he made fun of former Chairman and Test player, Ijaz Butt is disappointing. He is a senior player and he has served Pakistan cricket for long. We don't expect such behavior from him," he said.

Pakistan's top cricketers are presently in demand by Indian television channels for the World Cup and are appearing either as commentators, pundits or on special cricket shows.

Former captain Shoaib Malik is working for a leading channel while others like Wasim Akram, Rameez Raja and Akhtar are with the official broadcasters of the World Cup.

When contacted Ijaz Butt said neither had he watched the show nor did it make any difference to him what anyone said about him or his leadership qualities.

"I don't bother about such things. Like everyone else I also wanted to see Pakistan cricket move ahead," he said.

Akhtar a controversial and colorful character in Pakistan cricket has also come under fire for some of his stinging remarks about current captain Misbah-ul-Haq, whom he called a "coward" and "selfish" after the team's opening loss to India in the 50-over showpiece event.

After his appearance on the comedy show the social media was also abuzz with clips of the show showing Akhtar ridiculing Pakistan cricket and Butt have gone online with mainly critical and negative comments about the fast bowler.

When akhtar was making fun of pakistani players and officials sitting in india on indian channel it was called fun and nothing wrong with it according to some indian fans and now when afridi just said mauka mauka sitting on a pakistani channel it's a big deal? wow

So much for those defending the political decision to effectively boycott Pakistan players from the IPL. How come Shiv Sena don't protest the appearance of ex-Pakistan players on television?

Personally i feel comedy should have no limits, if it goes too far then people wont laugh.

I am suprised so many people are offended, have you never watched Eddie Murphy or Chappelle or Prior?

They mock everything and anything they can get their hands on.
