Definitely. Looks completely gone right now. Get Sharjeel in, but only when he loses that gut.

Needs to be sent back to domestic cricket. Can't play on past performances forever.

Looks short of confidence.

Needs to get back to domestic cricket and work on his several flaws.

Looks in horrific form and he's been given enough chances.

I'd stick with him he's the only aggressive batsman we have. Maybe drop him down the order, we could drop him to 3 or 4, and have the wicketkeeper open. Sharjeel and Umar akmal were obvious replacements but due to their bans and bad reputations, it may be difficult (or not even a good idea) to bring them back in.

He should be dropped in place for sharjeel if he can become fitter otherwise fakhar has to stay.

Sharjeel should play ahead of him. Watch him open against Zimbabwe in both odis and t20s.

Only reason we've kept him is because of his one moment of glory against India and his 210* against Zimbabwe.

There are some very talented openers in Pakistan that we can use for T20s. Umar Siddiq would be a choice of mine but they didn't choose him for the PSL. A massive shame really, he looked great in the 2019 edition.

Even after getting out to a straight ball, he doesn't leave the his crease for few seconds then he gives the expressions as if it was a jaffa.

He did same in world cup against Bangladesh & Afghanistan.

Fakhar seems lost at the moment. Has technical issues against spinners that he needs to work on. Still feel he has the x factor we need and an opening partnership
With him and sharjeel would be very dynamic. Excellent fielder too as he showed today. Just needs confidence, going through a bad patch. And work on his issues against spin

T20s aren't his game. He usually needs a bit of time before he can start striking at 100+. There's a reason he does a lot better in ODIs.

Sharjeel is the better guy for T20s.

Maybe people won't agree with me here but I would keep Fakhar in the t20 squad however not as an opener but rather as a number 6-7 batman to come and try to slog as much as possible I think he can be decent in that role

But doesn't have the best technique for an opener

He should be dropped for sure. Not a lot of options, but Sharjeel can return if he improves his fitness.

His ground fielding has also become terrible. Easy 2 run candidate as a so called boundary rider

I would keep him for now. He performed well in the PSL. And since the PSL he has only batted twice, and was good in one innings, and flopped in the other.

He has regressed at an alarming rate. Won't find it easy now, with pretty much all of his competition breaking down the door for selection. Sharjeel and Zeeshan are looking much more assured than Fakhar at the moment.

Fakhar needs to be dropped from the t20 side he was not developed any skills not good enough

Found some form today for KP with 61 (41).

Good innings today:

The guy has badly regressed and is an unreliable hack now. There is nothing solid about his cross bat shots at all and you always know whether he is batting on 0 or 60 that he is one ball from being dismissed. He has abused the numerous chances he keeps getting.

Man that CT'17 final seems like a distant memory for Fakhar. In the last 18-24 months he has regressed badly. He has failed to get any substantial start, he has failed to put a price on his wicket and he seems to get out very easily.

Its trouble times for Fakhar, Zeeshan and Haidar are seeming to be picking up steam in this tournament and with recent good form from Sharjeel, Fakhar's could be up.

It's Pakistan so the answer to that is no. We won't be moving away from him because he scored a century in CT final.

For other countries, even Bangladesh would have moved away from him after looking at the serious regression. He will still get out to left arm or finger spin 9/10 times in the power play.

He did decently in the absence of Sharjeel but he is very limited in his technique. He never looks settled. Babar and Sharjeel followed by Haider, Abdullah Shafiq and Hafeez are the decent top 5 both in T20 and ODIs. His time is up. Presently so many young openers like Zeeshan Malik are performing.

One decent knock every 7 or 8 innings.

That's not acceptable or good enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pakistan move on from him, but I'd say keep him in the t20 squad.

For openers going forward in LOIs:

T20s: Sharjeel and Babar (Fakhar backup opener)
ODIs: Haider and Fakhar

lol wait I forgot about Imam. Ok so Sharjeel and Babar opening for t20s, Haider and Imam opening for ODIs. Fakhar in the squad for both.

Fakhar played well today

He should start as opener in ODIs (Two 50 in last two matches) and be backup opener in T20Is.

For now I would try Haider Ali or Zeeshan Malik to open with Bobs in T20Is. Sharjeel is too unfit man.

I am fan because of the innings against India in the CT but he has been awful for a long time and he needs to be dropped.

He has a very similar technique to Eoin Morgan. I don’t mind him trying out the number 5 or 6 slot as a lower order hitter. He can still strike the ball better than most in Pakistan. Plus he’s a decent fielder.

Haider so far has had a solid national t20 cup batting at 3 as well as scoring his fifty batting at three against England. Although he's very much capable of opening in t20s alongside Babar, I believe for now he's fine at number 3.

Regarding Fakhar, fair enough since he's scored those fifties in his last ODI outings. However, I'm looking at Imam and Haider as long-term investments worth trying as Pakistan's ODI openers going forward. I'm still not convinced whether Fakhar has worked on his deficiencies, but if in the end he's still scoring runs, then I won't complain.

Reminiscent of Imran Nazir - electric when he's on, a true game-changer. Unfortunately not nearly consistent enough for International Cricket

Don't think he deserves a place in the national team right now. Nowadays you just can't have batsmen who are so inconsistent

Fakhar on fire!

Nice ring to it 66* vs Central Punjab

Fakhar Zaman 66 off 42

It’s very unfair to compare Fakhar to Imran Nazir! Fakhar averages 47 in one day cricket with several decent and match winning knocks.

In t20 international’s his average is at a career low due to his poor form but it is still higher than Imran nazirs career average !

They are cut from a different cloth . Imran nazir on his day will score a quick 30 and then get out . Fakhar on his day will score 100s and win you matches like he has in a couple of finals for Pakistan .

Sharjeel khan is a much better player in t20s comapred to fakhar if sharjeel faces 50 bowls more or less will get 100

ISLAMABAD: Former cricketer Ramiz Raja believes left-hand opener Fakhar Zaman needs to take a leaf out of Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch’s book in order to sort out the technical flaws in his batting. While speaking on his YouTube channel, the former cricketer said that Fakhar needs to improve his game towards the off side, as it will take his batting to another level. “Fakhar’s bat angle and strong bottom hand makes him play mostly towards the leg side. Off side doesn’t feature in his batting chart. He needs to play with a free mind and he can only do that when he relaxes his bottom hand grip and his bat angle would be better. He can hit a six at long on, mid-wicket but not on long off,” said Raja.

“It’s not the end of the world. He needs to continue to work hard. Aaron Finch also worked hard. He also had a technical issue. He used to go across the line on a straight ball was a candidate of leg before wicket and bowled. He eventually opened his stance, so his front foot plays down the line and he doesn’t go across the line, which allows him to hit sixes over mid-on and mid-off. So Fakhar needs to do same,” he added. Raja also revealed that he had personally advised Fakhar to replicate former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist’s approach of placing a squash ball in his bottom hand glove.

“I suggested Fakhar to keep a small squash ball in his bottom hand like Adam Gilchrist did in 2007 World Cup final to release the pressure on his bottom hand, but I am not sure if it is allowed anymore according to the laws of the game,” he said. Raja also heaped praise on the left-hand opener’s scintillating 66-run knock from 42 balls against Central Punjab in the ongoing National T20 Cup in Multan on Tuesday. “If he can improve his off-side game then he will become a top player. He played a really good innings and showed great footwork. If he stays in form then it solves a lot of problems for Pakistan’s T20 side,” he concluded.
