Getting Into Cricket

I started playing cricket at school. Initially, I used to play tape ball cricket with my school mates as well as with people living in my area and later I played hard ball cricket towards the end of my school life. My interest in cricket grew and then I played for my college. I was selected for the Pakistan U19s and progressed. Now, I am playing at the First-Class level. Alhamdulillah, I was the top-scorer in the List A PCB event last year. In the recently concluded Haier T20 Cup, I was among the top 10 best performers. Apart from that, I have represented Pakistan U21s in the South Asian Games. Recently, I was named in the Pakistan 'A' squad, which will tour the UAE this month.

Role Models

Among Pakistan players, my role model has always been Mohammad Yousuf, and from the non-Pakistanis, I am a huge admirer of AB de Villiers. The reason behind being inspired by both of them is that they don't rely on the pitches and the conditions to score runs. No matter how difficult the pitch is to bat and how harsh the conditions may be, they just pile up runs. Their consistency is another aspect, which made me like them as players. Both of them have scored runs on a consistent basis.

Selection for U19s

I was selected for the Pakistan U19s through trials, which were held in Peshawar. I was named in the 40 probables and then we moved to Multan , where they had to finalise the team. Alhamdulillah, I did very well there in the trials and was selected in the final 15 players.

Selection for Peshawar Panthers

I was performing well at the U19 level and my performance was noticed by the regional coaches and selectors in Peshawar. They gave me an opportunity to perform at the First-Class level and on that basis I was selected for the T20 side of Peshawar Panthers.

Thoughts on playing in the Haier T20 Cup

It was an amazing experience for me to play in that event. It was the first time that Peshawar Panthers were able to win the National T20 event. It's a huge honour for the Peshawar region. And to top it all, I was named among the ten best players of that event by the PCB. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for me as well as for all the players.

Mood in the Peshawar Panthers camp

After winning that event, the mood in our camp was really upbeat. I feel the main reason of us winning the tournament was our unity. All the players gelled well. The management and the supporting staff did an excellent job. Each and every one of them backed us. Although, there was no international player in our squad, we were sure of our potential and we knew we could win this tournament, which we did.

Attending the 3 day workshop at NCA

As I mentioned above, I was named among the top 10 performers of the Haier T20 Cup. The PCB just wanted to make sure of our fitness level and our training regime. The focus of the camp was mainly on our fitness. They wanted to check if we were able to match the standards of international cricket. My fitness was fine, Alhamdulillah and my fielding was also decent during the sessions at the NCA.

Pakistan 'A' call-up

Yes, I am geared up for this assignment. I have been working hard of late and it's a big opportunity for me. Inshallah, I will try to do my best in the UAE. I just want to be able to play some part in the success of my team there. In future, I will hopefully be able to represent Pakistan by playing for the national team as well.

Lack of First-Class cricket

I was one of the top performers at the U19 level and from there I was given a direct route to First-Class cricket. However, I could not play First-Class cricket for three years after my debut. This was because the regional selectors thought it was better to try out the senior players first. Playing them was the priority at that time. When I got my chance, I availed it. I was the top performer at the List A level and my performance in the longer version was also noticeable.

Talent in Peshawar Panthers

There is a lot of talent in the Peshawar Panthers side. Mohammad Rizwan is a young and a very talented wicket-keeper. Zohaib Khan is a very fine all-rounder and plays for ZTBL. Rafatullah Mohmand is also an excellent player. Apart from them, there are a few others who can make a breakthrough in the future.

Invitation to play for departments

I am currently representing WAPDA in first-class cricket. Two other departments had also contacted me, but they were from the Silver league, so I thought it was better to play for the Gold league. I decided to represent the Peshawar region as according to me, the performance in the Gold league carries more weight.

Craze of Cricket in Peshawar

Peshawar is a very talented region, but there is a lack of grounds here. There are hardly three or four grounds, where we can play cricket. If we look at other cities, the facilities are a lot more and the standard is advanced. There are several grounds at the school level, but there is nothing like it here.

Future Aspirations

I am working very hard. My ultimate aim is to one day play for Pakistan. It's a big honour for any player to wear the cap of his country. I am doing my bit to be able to do it, which is working hard and the rest is with ALLAH to do.

Fitness and Training

Yes, I do take care of my fitness and do private training off season. I know the importance of staying fit. In the morning, I play football and do running with other players. In the evening, I do nets and then spend some time in the gym. This helps me stay fit and healthy.

Is that from seeing him in the Haier Cup?

Yes, though in haier cup he performed decently but i found his batting and bowling to be a bit one dimmensional, though i hope he proves me wrong in coming A-team matches

To be honest with the way the team is playing we should induct 4 or 5 youngsters asap as they can't do any worse.

Peshawar continues to produce some fine cricketing talent.

Best of luck to Adil for the future.

playing some lovely shots. Looks a very good LO batsman to me.

Not a good fc career but like Baber Azam he is having a very good List A career so far.

16 games
644 Runs
81.31 strike rate
2 hundreds and 2 fifties already

still early days for him though.

We keep seeing these kind of threads but nothing usually happens. Be realistic. There's hardly any serious talent in Pakistan.

saw a bit of his batting yesterday, was impressed.

had a good simple technique and looked pretty elegant.

i like to see him bowl, he has very neat and clean action and very pleasing to eye , saqlain should be working on him, he can replace hafeez.

Which team is he playing for in the upcoming T20 league? Peshawar?

probably

Peshawar players don't seem to have the killer instinct in them for some reason.

not that any cricketer from any region has it right now

peshawar may not have the fire power but the reason they won that t-20 tournament was because of two reasons one is fast bowling deparment is very strong and the other and most important is that they play as a team and enjoy each others sucess

Adil and Israr are good but not upto international level players yet like Babar Azam for instance or the right hand current opener of pak U-19 team forgot his name , when they play quality is visible in their batting.
Also Saud shakil and agha salman have the spark.
Saud resembles saeed anwar and agha salman resembles mohammad yousuf.
Will they be able to translate their ability into stats and performances like saeed & yousuf ? Well they may or may not.
Please don't quote the stats of agha salman, see the stats of Mohammad yousuf when he debuted for pakistan.
U need an eye for the future. Saeed anwar domestic record and yousufs domestic record before they played for Pakistan is visible to all

I don't rate Agha Salman.

Saud, Babar, Umer Siddiq all very good.

Saud , Babar and Umer are all very good agreed.
I wish and pray Agha will have a very good season this year inshaAllah. Bullet Drive

I like him for some reason, but I don't think he is international class.

The little we saw of Umar Siddique last year wasn't encouraging. He just looked poor, maybe he was out form but he didn't look good.

i remember he used to be top scorer in A tours last year adil amin and against UAE , he played well

he needs to be regular in pakistan A , he is the best pressure absorber in pakistan domestic.

Has he improved ? Did he impress in his short stay ?

Was unjustly left from Pakistan Cup after averaging 48, 49 in List A.

Replaced Younis in the squad after his debacle.

Guys that have played under 19 cricket are naturally talented

Every under 19 player needs to be playing regular cricket and I hope that a lot of them get picked for PSL

A guy who averages 49+ in domestic List A cricket and today was I first time I had heard of him. That is quite unfortunate. We keep selecting guys like Shehzad and Manzoor but I'm sure there are plenty of Adil Amins out there that have the right ingredients to work with but never really given a chance or the right recognition to prosper.

Bump. Instead of going back to guys like Akmal. Why don't we look forward to someone like him? Solid domestic record,Looks technically sound and scored at decent pace in current domestic t20 cup. Also got 140 in List A, Looks solid batsman.

And they say we dont have hafeez replacement

What a performance by adil today with his offspin picking up 4 wickets and also batting ver well today at no. 3

This guy has been performing well recently. Didn't know he was an off spinner though until I saw this post. He could be a long term replacement for Hafeez/Malik

He has been performing in List A for long long time he was top run getter in one of the one day tournament and also in top 10 wicket takers.

That’s actually terrible bowling tbh; most of the batsmen got out trying to slog bad balls.

Someone must have been looking down on him kindly as he got Maqsood, Sahibzada and Asif Ali with absolute filth. Changed the course of the game though.

Yeah, those deliveries were way too short and / or down the leg side. Looking at this clip, he doesn’t look like someone who puts revolutions on the ball at all. Just darts them in, don’t think his bowling is going to work at a higher level. Kind of disappointed because I thought he would be a handy player with bat and ball, looking at his stats

Mammoth inning by Adil Amin, he scored 211* runs of 345 balls.

Has been excellent in FC and List A . He should play the last match as well. There is a reason we have to play more and more A games.

Good utility player. Bowls offspin too - not very good offspin but does have a knack of picking wickets. Not sure why he was never picked in PSL

No hype for this lad? Can anyone shed some light on why Adil Amin is not talked of as much as the likes of Saad and Saud?

Just watched the video. Sorry not impressed. He does not seem like international quality. I would love to be proved wrong though.

Poor FC record (despite a decent ongoing season, though the standout knock was 211* against a weak ZTBL side), poor List A record in recent years, an inflated average due to not outs and not a overly impressive strike-rate.

Brilliant achievement today and an impressive knock, but not too impressed with the video footage. Stands still and swings hard at the ball without much footwork and balance is lacking.

Did you know that he was top run getter in. 2-3 QAT one day , in FC he has been give very little chance to bat in top 4 and whenever they did he scored a double

The way he is hitting the ball its actually not the way he plays he just hitting in slog overs but actually he is sort of player who plays drives technical batsman

And he is not hitting some random pakistan poor domestic team its England lions remember international bowlers Mark Wood , Briggs , D Bess and also good bowlers like porter and Captain Lewis Gregory.

Yes indeed, it was an excellent knock against England Lions.

But the recent he isn't hyped is because he has very few performances of note. In the last 6-7 50-over domestic tournaments, he has very few performances. Before that, he had ~2 good years in List A.

He has batted several times at #3 and #4 in his FC career.

Bro I’d prefer us to groom Agha Salman personally as a long term Malik/Hafeez replacement. Very handy with the ball and has a bit about him with the bat too. Definitely need to start integrating him imo. Very fascinating to see how he does for LQ in the PSL.

Does anyone here rate Adil Amin and Faizan Riaz?

Aged 28 and 30 respectively, both have pretty good stats and are middle order bats primarly.
It's no secret that after WC19, 2 spots are going to open up with Hafeez and Malik retiring. The popular belief is that Haris Sohail, Khushdil Shah and Saud Shakeel or Saad Ali should be replacing the two, but I would like to add that these two are also pretty good options who usually go under the radar. Adil Amin averages close to 47 with a strike rate of 80 plus, plus can bowl handy off spin.
Faizan Riaz is a bit more aggressive one and has been scoring fifties with amazing consistency. 16 fifties and 1 century in 45 LA games at a strike rate of 84. He can also bowl some part time spin.

What do you guys think, who should be the first ones to get the opportunity once the spots open up. Haris Sohail is almost a certainty though.

He hit 10 sixes in his 100 this was needed today

Adil Amin is one of the few batsmen we have who have all the gears and can hit them big according to the requirements.

As said multiple times before, he is one of the few players who has all the gears as a middle order batsman for LOIs and is a very decent spin option too.

These lads have an opportunity as the likes of Asad Shafiq have had more than enough chances.

Should have been in the ODI squad ahead of Ifti. Will keep a close eye on his performances over the coming season

Should be in T20 squad over Asif Ali if he keeps up the momentum.

I remember him being utter rubbish when he started, seems to be improved by leaps and bound
