AIG Karachi says three police teams formed to search for teenager.
Dua Zehra Kazmi has been missing for the last five days.
14-year-old's father says he will take his own life if girl not found.
KARACHI: The case of the mysterious disappearance of a teenage girl from Karachi’s Al-Falah area is yet to be solved, as police continue to search for her.

Fourteen-year-old Dua Zehra Kazmi had gone missing around five days ago. Her father has also said that if his daughter is not recovered then he and his family will take their own lives in front of the Governor House, according to Geo News.

After Dua had gone missing, her father filed a police complaint, The News reported Wednesday, with him saying that he did not have enmity with anyone.

“My daughter wasn’t even going to school for the past one and a half years," her father told the publication.

The girl has been missing for nearly a week, but there has been no clue about her whereabouts since she had stepped out of her home to dispose of garbage.

The father said that they lived on the first floor, explaining that his daughter had gone down to the ground floor to dump garbage, but she never returned.

After the case was highlighted on social media, Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon visited the girl’s home to assure her family of complete cooperation on part of the law enforcement agency.

“We’re doing our best,” the police chief told journalists after visiting the family. “Three special police teams have been formed to find the girl. Soon the girl will be with her family. We have no objection if someone from the family wishes to join the investigation team.”

A team of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) also met the girl’s father. AVCC chief Zubair Nazir Shaikh said they have formed three teams, and they are working on getting CCTV camera footage to trace the girl’s whereabouts.

“We’re taking all measures to find the girl and are in touch with her family to gather all information regarding her disappearance,” he said. “A case has already been registered at the Al-Falah police station.”

A police official said that an investigation into the incident had been launched, with the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the area being examined to trace the whereabouts of the girl.

Its been five days.

At first no one even cared about this case. Than their this group called jdc, they took some action to give this coverage. He got ary digital to give this coverage and after 4 did some work started.

Today its day 5 and still nothing.

What i have heard about the case so far

- the mohalla camera footage of that day was not being shown to the father, when after 4 days it was finally shown the footage of that day was deleted.

-the girl is being reported to have been kdinapped at 1:40ish pm(day time)

-some cctv footage of main road came which shows a girl goinf ina van at night time as you can tell by the shadows. It is not confirm who that girl is, but some stupid news channel like Bol broadcasted it which caused character assassination of the 14 year old girl.

-false calls been made to the father where people demanding for ransom.... Oppurtunist looking to make a quick buck.

-father went to mosque to make annoucement , the mosque people said we cant do annoucement due to shia name. Father said this on ary digital.

I hope a miracle happens and the poor child is found. But knowing this pathetic country, i am sensing the worst any minute or any day now. I keep checking the news joping against hope that the child is found alive some how.

The mother looks to have given up hope as even she is expecting the worst.

KARACHI: The police have prepared an investigation report in the case of a 14-year-old Karachi girl, who went missing six days ago.

The police say that information on a nikkah and court marriage was found in the internet search history from the girl's house. The report stated that the "girl has also taken her tablet device with her."

It further stated that the complainant, the missing teenager's father, has said in his statement to the police that his daughter studies in class 7, but her school administration said that the girl didn't attend school after class three.

The school administration's claim has been seconded by the girl's class fellows.

Meanwhile, the teenagers family has refuted the findings of the police report and demanded action against the Al-Falah police SHO Badar Shakil.

Police said that the SHO has been dismissed from his post over issuing "wrong" CCTV footage that showed a minor girl consensually leaving in a Suzkuki pickup van.

However, further investigation confirmed that the girl in the van was not the missing girl.

The police has requested the media not to run the footage again, saying that the video doesn't have any link with the case. They said that efforts for the recovery of the missing girl is underway.

I dont understand, why in such cases does pakistani police try its level best to put allegation on the girl. Why do they try to make it a case where the girl herself ran away.

I get it, these are officials who have experience and most of the kidnapping cases are of such, but still where is the decency.

If the news of the worst comes, than what face would these idiots have to show for?

Because of this girl and the hype it got due to jdc, 4-5 other girls have been recovered who were lost or kidnappe d

Just shows how failed the system is, and for departments to operate, everytime you need the top hierarchy to come into action. This is just pathetic

Your disappointment and anger at this event is rightly justified but pleasantly a surprise to me. You're acknowledging that there needs to be change, yet you continue to support the status quo...

If true - I am shocked.

KARACHI: The ill-fated parents of 14-year-old Dua Zehra Kazmi, who has been missing for a few days, have claimed that a local mosque refused to announce her daughter’s name due to sectarian issues.

Police have failed to trace the 14-year-old girl who disappeared from outside her house in Karachi’s Golden Town area within Al Falah police station limits on April 16.

Speaking to a private media outlet, her father claimed that when they approached the local mosque for help in announcing Dua Zehra as a missing person, they were refused, saying “We cannot announce this name because she’s from the Shia sect”.

Her father also said that if his daughter is not recovered then he and his family will attempt suicide in front of the Governor House. “My daughter wasn’t even going to school for the past one and a half years,” her father said.

Meanwhile, Dua’s mother said, “I want my daughter alive. I am a mother. I will not accept her body like Zainab. I will keep the body outside the Governor House if she is found dead.”

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had directed the Karachi police chief to take immediate action for the safe recovery of the child.

Karachi Additional IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that three special teams of police have been formed to rescue the 14-year-old girl. Each team has separate mandate, while SSP of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell is looking into the investigations, Memon said while talking to the media.

The Additional IGP Karachi was accompanied by DIG East Muqaddas Haider, SSP AVCC Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SSP Korangi Faisal Bashir Memon. Talking to reporters, Memon said, “We have assured the affected family of trying our best to rescue the girl as soon as possible.”

POLICE CLAIM YET TO FIND EVIDENCE OF DUA ZEHRA BEING TAKEN FORCEFULLY

KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed that they have yet to find any evidence suggesting that Dua Zehra who is missing for more than a week was taken forcefully, ARY NEWS reported.

The police, however, said that they could not set aside the aspect of her being forcefully taken away and are making all-out efforts to recover the missing girl.

“Our investigations are underway and we are trying to find missing links,” they said adding, police were using modern techniques for her recovery. “The missing of a girl is painful and we are trying to recover her as soon as possible.”

Earlier, Zehra’s father said that the police tried to declare another girl as her daughter who had appeared in the CCTV footage. He expressed suspicion that the suspected abductor was seemingly a resident of his own street.

He said that her daughter had never left the house alone. The father prayed for the safe return of her daughter at the earliest.

It may be noted here that the police withdrew the statement regarding the missing girl’s departure from her residence on her own. Later, a station house officer (SHO) of the Al-Falah police station has been suspended after the girl who appeared in the CCTV footage was identified as Sobia.

The police had carried out a raid in Sanghar for the recovery of 14-year-old Dua Zehra who went missing outside her home in Karachi, but they only found another girl who was forcefully kept there.

The father of a 14-year-old girl Dua Zehra Kazmi who has been allegedly abducted from the Al-Falah area of Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony revealed on Wednesday that he received ransom calls.

“We cannot announce this name because she’s from the Shia sect”

This is symptomatic of a society that's united merely by religion. We should be united by humanity first and foremost.

NIMRA KAZMI: ONE MORE GIRL GOES MISSING IN KARACHI AFTER DUA ZEHRA

KARACHI: One more young girl namely Nimra Kazmi has gone missing in Karachi after Dua Zehra while the police department failed to recover her too after several days, ARY News reported on Sunday.

A new case of disappearance has been reported in the metropolis as a 16-year-old girl namely Nimra Kazmi went missing from his home in the Saudabad S-1 area of Malir town.

The mother of the missing girl said that Nimra Kazmi went missing from the home on April 20. She recorded her statement before the police officials and said that she went outside her residence at 9:00 am on April 20 and later found Nimra nowhere in the home.

She expressed suspicion that her daughter was abducted by someone. The mother asked the Sindh chief minister, inspector general (IG) and concerned authorities to take effective steps for the immediate recovery of her daughter.

She told police that Nimra was also having a mobile phone but she did not respond to her telephone call despite multiple attempts to contact her.

Police officials said that Nimra Kazmi was in contact with a boy namely Shahrukh for the last month whose location was Lahore.

Police said that they are trying to collect CCTV footage of the adjoining areas of the crime scene. They added that they are investigating the incident in different aspects.

Earlier, a 14-year-old girl Dua Zehra had gone missing from Karachi’s Alfalah Town. There has been no clue to her whereabouts since she stepped out of her house to dispose of garbage.

These missing stories usually the girls have ran away themselves with some boyfriend.

Or for ghiarat reasons their parents have murdered them and then act all innocent on camera it happened in uk with Shafeila ahmed.

The police should take the girls parents in custody and give them a good going over desi chitrol style some one in the extended family will spill the beans

Most cases of abuses are within families or people who are known to the family neighbours friends.

The 14-year-old teenager — Dua Zehra — who had gone missing from Karachi a week back has been found in Lahore, Geo News reported.

The teenager has also given a statement saying she went to Lahore from Karachi of her own free will.

The Lahore police have taken her into their custody. The Lahore and Karachi police are in touch and will share updates soon.

The case
The case of the mysterious disappearance of the teenage girl from Karachi’s Al-Falah shook everyone. She went missing from the Golden Town area 10 days ago, triggering a sense of fear among the masses.

Police conducted multiple raids but failed to recover the girl. The police had claimed that she might have left the house of her own choice but the family had rejected it.

What the family said
Earlier on April 22, the mother of the 14-year-old had warned of suicide outside Governor House if her daughter was not safely recovered.

“I want my daughter alive. I am a mother. I will not accept her body like Zainab. I will keep the body outside Governor House if she is found dead,” the mother had said. “Five days have passed and we are still looking for Dua,” the frustrated father, Mehdi Kazmi, had told The News.

“The news running on the media about the recovery of my daughter from Sanghar is fake. Even the girl seen in the CCTV footage going on a Suzuki vehicle is also the daughter of my neighbour who was going to work when she was captured on CCTV footage,” he had clarified.

Mehdi had said that there was a conspiracy to downplay his daughter’s case by running such fake news on the media. “But I am telling I will not allow anyone to ignore my daughter’s case,” he had said.

Great stuff by sindh police. Remarkable.

Damn, everyone was bashing sindh police and they kept saying this aint a kidnapping case but a runaway marriage one.

If they traced this kid through an ipad, than you really have to applaud sindh police and FIA.

Anywaysz while i am glad the kid is safe and alive, im really sad with the fact that why she put her family through this ordeal?

It would be interesting to note whther she was marrying another boy or a man. If its a man than clearly a case of pedophilia needs to be made.

This kids mom and dad had been dead worried and crying. They had to give interviews for the sake of the child.

I understand being in this age, teenagers make dumb mistakes. Oh well, happy she is alive, but she will go through character assassination now on social media.

Hope her parents are understanding after this ordeal.

Apprently the father even gave an interview 2 days ago that his children dont have social media accounts and he doesnt buy them any phone so that they dont go heywire.

Police were able to do investigation base on the searches of court marriage, thats about it and they had 0 clue yet found her.

Ufff, i wasnt able to sleep properly for days, damn what a case. I am happy and relieved and her parents must be happy aswell

Dont know for certain but somehow the father’s statements have some big red flags-

1. The girl hasnt been to any school since the 3rd grade.
2. She doesnt step out of the house.
3. The guy doesnt buy phones for his kids so that they dont go heywire.

With a controlling father like that, any teenager would run away given an opportunity.

Sindh police did a great job, this case also led to 4-5 other girls being recovered with some of them being minors.

Another nimra case that also came into existence on 20th was also solved as a runaway marriage.....

Man this case has made me fear that i dont wanna be a parent ever... Very complex thing...

If you are lax, the children are undisciplined, if you are over controling, the children are still undisciplined. Wonder what is the right way to do parenting.

Anyways, i am relieved that she is safe and it wasnt a rape and murder case which i had feared would become

My goodness... isn't she too young for all this.

Anyway, problem with this type of cases is, when a girl actually gets kidnapped or goes missing. First reaction of police and public is always like "oh she must have run away with some boy".

You teach your children right from wrong and trust them. You cannot have children in the 20th century and not let them participate in it.

Wait a minute, this case hasnt been confirmed yet.

Father has said he hasnt got any confirmation, even punjab police denying on fb.....

Mods, delete our posts and fix the thread title plz.

The news was not true, punjab police and the father have said so. The nikahnamma is being declared as fake due to no stamp.

Shameful stuff by our media and punjab police who released the nikahnamma

The trick is not to overdo anything. Too many restrictions can have the opposite effect of what is intended. I have some similar examples in my family where the father was an extreme control freak, now the grownup children dont give him any time of the day.

KARACHI/LAHORE: The father of Dua Zehra — the girl who had gone missing from Karachi's Al Falah area a week back — said Monday that the police have not yet confirmed whether she had been recovered or not.

"Additional Inspector-General (Ghulam Nabi Memon) did not confirm whether the police found Dua or not," the missing 14-year-old girl's father told Geo News.

Giving details of his telephonic contact with the police officer, he told Geo News that Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon asked him if the news airing on TV about Dua Zehra was authentic.

Kazmi said that he told the police officer that he did not know about her recovery and asked him to verify it as he was an official related to the government.

"A nikkah nama attributed to my daughter is circulating on the social media wherein her age is written as 18 years," he said, insisting that his daughter is below 14.

Responding to a question, Kazmi said he did not recognise any of the names written in the nikah nama. “These all names are new for me,” he added.

Before her father's confirmation, sources told Geo News that Lahore police informed their Karachi counterpart of Dua's recovery, while the police of both the metropolia are in touch over the matter.

Karachi also police said that Dua tied the nuptial knot with a boy — who is a resident of Lahore. The marriage certificate of the teenager has been obtained by the police and is being verified.

But commenting on the reports of her recovery, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Operations Dr Abid Khan said Lahore police have shared the girl's nikkah nama with their Karachi counterpart and are using the document to trace her.

"There is no truth to the reports of Dua's recovery [...] the real facts behind this matter can only be verified once the girl is in our custody," the police official told journalists.

Dr Khan added that Lahore and Karachi police are in contact with each other, and assured the public that the police would find her soon.

Whereabouts traced: CM Sindh
In a press conference, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also said the whereabouts of the missing teen had been traced but did not provide further details as the matter was "sensitive".

Following reports of her being traced, Sindh Women Development Minister Syeda Shehla Raza reached the girl's house and told journalists that the AIG has not confirmed whether the girl has been recovered yet.

"Sindh police will make an official statement once the girl's video statement is released [...] IG has made it clear that the video statement is necessary for further probe," Raza said.

The minister noted that despite reports claiming that the girl went to Lahore out of her own free will, she was a minor and cannot do so under the law.

"When the girl will record her statement in the court then the judiciary would ask her to reconsider the marriage till she turns 18. Once she is recovered [and after the necessary judicial matters are done] she will stay at the child protection bureau till she is 18 years old," Raza said.

Raza added she saw the girl's Child Registration Certificate (CRC) — also known as B-form — and in line with that, her marriage — if solemnised — would stand invalid as she is under 18.

Police teams formed; FIA joins in
To ensure the girl's recovery, three separate police teams were formed to trace her last week, while the Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime cell also joined the probe.

A four-member FIA team visited Dua’s home on Friday and had said that the agency had taken the initiative of joining the case itself.

“No one approached us because it’s a police chase, but it’s our own decision to help the family and the police investigators for the early and safe recovery of the girl,” said cybercrime cell chief Imran Riaz.

On Thursday, Dua’s mother had said that if her daughter was not recovered, she and her family would commit suicide in front of the Governor House.

I really hope this kid is fine and so are all the other kids in this country. Child marriage needs to be dealt with iron fist.

This is a big cover up going on by the police i would assume.

An investigation needs to be initiated by the ig police through his trusted fellows. Where is the original nikahnama. On the original nikahnama, you only need to look at the photo of Dua that was stappled.

Whoever made the fake nikahnama, what he did was he took the already circulating pic of dua, and he photoshopped a head cover on it. On the black and white photocopy it aont clear, but if original exists it can easily be told whether its photoshopped or not. If its not photoshop, this can be a clue. If its photoshop, than someone in the police is trying to divert the case.

This is the third time false news was reported on this case.

1st when the cctv footage was released
2nd the other girl found that was claimed to be dua in sindh
3rd this lahore thing along with nikahnama

Every nikkahnama is saved as a record in union council, this nikkahnama turned out to be fake. The cnic used are also fake.

The guy who did the nikkahnama, he was questioned and he said he never made this nikkah.

Not found.

Parent has said it even police. But the story spread like wild fire.

The nikahnamma was also fake.

This was done to divert people away from the case and also to bash the girl.

She is still not recoverd i habe been following this news and following her dad what he says

If it was a major national scandal, i can understand why someone would do it. But this doesn’t seem to be one. People disappear in Pakistan all the time.
In fact, it could actually be the reverse. Put it on all major media outlets+social media to divert attention from the politics, maybe?

Nope, because the major politicians of the new govt havent said anything publically about this case.

Plus, the girls reputation has been tarnished and even found.

People do disappear but every parent will try to get the attention of the public one way or another. This child got attention as the father went on to jdc because police wasnt helping, he than got the famiky appear on ary to beg and cry for help

In pakpattan the police was contacted and both were traced there.

Video doing rounds on spcial media that geo is saying was made by pakpattan police

Not closed yet.

The video seems as if the girl was under threat... Till she doesnt meet her parents we dont know what is the truth.

I am very glad she is alive and not dead. But she seems to be under threat, hopefully she is in policy custody and not in zaheers custody.

The parents were married in 2005, how can she be 18. The parents have a B form aswell, hence whatever the daughter says has no weightage

Police have found Dua Zehra, who mysteriously went missing a week back from Karachi, in Pakpattan with her husband, Geo News reported, citing sources.

Meanwhile, a video message of Dua has also surfaced in which she says she was not kidnapped and left home herself and married Zaheer Ahmed. She said her family was forcing her to marry someone else.

The couple were reportedly staying at Zaheer's uncle's home.

A day earlier, Karachi police said that Dua tied the knot with a resident of Lahore. The marriage certificate of the couple has been obtained by the police and is being verified.

It is being reported that the couple have filed a harassment petition at a sessions court, where Dua also recorded her statement on April 19.

As per the sources, Dua and her husband are expected to record their statements with the police.

Dua Zehra has submitted an affidavit in favour of her husband, in which she has confirmed her marriage with Zaheer Ahmed on April 17.

“I didn’t take anything along with me while leaving home,” Dua said in the video statement.

She also denied being 14 years old and said her family had given the police wrong information.

“I am an adult and my correct age is 18 years,” she said adding that she is living a happy life with her husband and asked not to be bothered.

Parents deny Dua's claims
Soon after the video message surfaced, Dua's father, Mehdi Ali Kazmi denied her claims questioning how his daughter could be 18 years old when he had not even been married for 18 years.

Kazmi said he was married on May 7, 2005 and he has Dua's birth certificate with April 27, 2008 as her date of birth.

He demanded the authorities bring Dua back to them or shift her to a child protection centre. He also demanded a thorough investigation about what actually was the matter in this case.

"I request Sindh inspector general, and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to bring my daughter back. I fully trust the child protection bureau [...] hand the girl over to them.

"My daughter is saying what she is told to say. [...] The boy trapped my daughter through the in-game messaging system," Kazmi said.

Moreover, Dua's mother said that as a lawyer's daughter she has aware enough to know that the marriage certificate is not legal.

"The nikahnama does not have the seal of the person who solemnised the marriage," she said.

The person whose name is written on the marriage certificat has also refuted reports of solemnising the marriage, she added.

Dua's mother expressed concern that her daughter might have been blackmailed through a video.

A day earlier, commenting on the reports of her recovery, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Operations Dr Abid Khan had said the Lahore police have shared the Dua's nikkah nama with their Karachi counterpart and are using the document to trace her.

"There is no truth to the reports of Dua's recovery [...] the real facts behind this matter can only be verified once the girl is in our custody," the police official had told journalists.

The case

The case of the mysterious disappearance of the teenage girl from Karachi’s Al-Falah shook everyone. She went missing from the Golden Town area 10 days ago, triggering a sense of fear among the masses.

Police conducted multiple raids but failed to find the girl. The police had claimed that she might have left the house of her own choice but the family had rejected it.

Hats off to punjab police and sindh police. They figured this case out without any evidence... Remarkable...

Apparently punjab police dug out a nikkah nama which finally gave a lead in this case and allowed them to recover the girl within 24 hrs after getting that lead.

Remarkable stuff. Hats off to Murad Ali Shah aswell

However, what i found pathetic was the leakage of news bu the police. Why do they do this, they try to sabotage their own cases?

How old is the man she apparently married?

Sadly for girls such marriages not last long neither end well. And I think both parents and children of today should be more accommodating, and reach a compromise due to avoid social character defamation. And to avoid this extreme step. Still best of luck to couple and their families.

Seems a bit strange for me that we had 3 cases of missing girls last week and all of them were of same nature where the girls ran away with their own consent.

Thank God she's okay and it's not the worst case scenario. The man's family should've reached out to her family right from the beginning letting them know she was okay.

Just saw her latest video, she doesn't look 18 either. May be around 16. Even the boy looks younger than 22.

So, there is no age gap issue.

I saw pics too, doesn't look like a case of older man trapping a child but if she is under 18 and he is over it is still a crime even if it is consensual.

The alternative is that trafficking gangs use young boys to marry these girls and then exploit both. Who knows what the story is!

Damn, our police solved this case by entering in the game, clash of clans and was able to retrieve its chat history.

Now issue is, no one knows whether there was consent or not. Father did mention that this zaheer was tracked through the game.

But the way that girl has gicen the interview 3 times by repeating a ratta. It is possible that she was being held and was gonna be trafficked away but due to media pressure it did not take place. It could also be possible that maybe threat or videos of her were made that someone might have threaten to use against her.

In pakistani kidnapping cases this is what happens. Either the girl is raped and killed off, or if the pressure is too much than the girl is nikkahfied with some boy.

The boy looks scared and confused, as if he has been made as a puppet for the whole show.

The boy looked like an even bigger victim than the girl in the video.

There needs to be more public awareness in Pakistan of the dangers of online grooming. Pakistanis in general are more susceptible to 'romance' than other cultures and seem to fall deeply in love even after a phone call.

Not sure about this particular case because it looks fishy but in general these types of runaway instances are down to some sort of online grooming. The poor girls hit reality a few years later when they have 3 kids at the age of under 20, their friends are studying in college making the most of their lives and they realise that drinking energy drinks and staying on their mobile all night is a good a character trait for a husband.

All these people are paid actors they have deliberately created this drama to give bad press about pakistan and try to portray pakistan as some backward slum where child marriages are the norm, there is some western sellouts or ngo who has set this up.

Does anyone really believe this girl fled karachi to marry someone she has never met half way across the country and even he looks like some junkie . How can she be happy with that guy he probably doesn't have 2 pennies to rub together.

LAHORE: Dua Zehra, who mysteriously went missing from Karachi over a week ago, has filed a case against her father Mehdi Ali Kazmi and a cousin in a Lahore court, after marrying a man named Zaheer, Geo News reported.

The police, however, have reportedly found the couple in Pakpattan.

In her case, Dua has accused Kazmi of barging into her house in Lahore and trying to kidnap her with the help of her cousin.

"My father wanted to force me to marry my cousin Zainul Abideen. My father and Abideen storm into my house and verbally abused and threatened me and my husband," Dua said in her complaint.

She said that her neighbours foiled the kidnapping bid.

Dua also said that she has married of her own free will and she is "living a happy life with my husband".

Maintaining that she wants to stay with her husband, Dua demanded action against Kazmi and Abideen under the code of criminal procedure.

The magistrate's court took up Dua's case and summoned her with evidence against her father on May 18.

Moreover, Dua also filed a separate petition against harassment at a district and sessions court.

Dua, husband shifted to protective custody
The Punjab police says Dua and Zaheer are at the Okara DPO office.

A police spokesperson issued a statement saying that the couple is being shifted to Lahore into protective custody.

He said that Karachi police has been informed of every development in the case and every possible coordination is being made.

Exactly, the boy looks terrified aswell, this case makes no sense

As for public awareness, well i agree to do that. But this befriending through game is much more easier as when opposites talk in real life people in pakistan judge you.

Its ths culture that we have created which results in this type of socialization

LAHORE: A court in Punjab's capital Tuesday ruled that Dua Zehra — the girl who mysteriously went missing from Karachi around 10 days back and was found today — was free to go wherever she wants.

Lahore Model Town Court's Judicial Magistrate Tasawar Iqbal rejected the police request to shift the girl to Darul Aman after she was presented before the court hours after her video statement came to light.

Before announcing the verdict, the judge sent her husband, Zaheer, outside the courtroom to record her statement.

Dua told the judge that she was 18 years of age, came from Karachi to Lahore willingly, no one had kidnapped her, and she did not want to go to Darul Aman.

"I am safe, my life is not in danger," Dua told the judge. Following this, the judge ordered that she be allowed to go "wherever she wants", and the police let the couple go free.

Dua files kidnapping case against father

Dua had earlier filed a case against her father Mehdi Ali Kazmi and a cousin, Zainul Abideen, in a Lahore court. Despite the case being filed in Lahore, the police have claimed they found the couple from Pakpattan.

What an epic mess. I hope all these police walas and judges have daughters themselves and think long and hard before making major decisions. If this girl is being manipulated and blackmailed, she needs a specialist consular t extract the information out of her. Not a local police SHO with a tond, who just wants the case to be over.

I am sorry but our police has terrible reputation.

saw the boys family side of interview. Basically the Punjab police gave them the legal advice of doing the petition and all and filing it in court. Judge has allowed a 14 year old to live with a 19 year old.. Why? Because of their interpretation of Islam

While our police did great investigation, but this is where they start acting like idiots....

This is outrageous the minimum age of marriage in Pakistan is 16. In Sindh its 18. She is clearly lying about her age when her parents haven't even been married for 18 years.

This is the problem with the judiciary in Pakistan. They need to realize that they interpret the law not make the law. When the minimum age of marriage in Punjab is 16, then they need to see whether she is at that age. Not just say ok beta best of luck in your marriage.

And the govt needs to raise the marriage age to 18 for girls. Its already 18 for boys. Both PTI and PPP support this, however due to pettiness over who gets credit this did not pass. I believe both Shireen Mazari and Sherbano Rehman had proposed bills to make the age 18 for girls marriage.

Not whole judciary, just these lower level courts.

In these lower level courts islam influences alot of these decision. The judge could had simply asked that the girls age be verrified but he did not do that knowingly.

To protect their own islamic beliefs certain people and courts are ready to violate laws.

Anyways, if this case goes to supreme court after failiyre in district and high court, sanity will prevail only than.

Pakistani law does not value a nikkahnama as an authentic document for age, and minors custody is always given to the mother.

Precedant already been set in 1969

Apprently, jibran nasir shared a case, similar thing happened. A minor was married, she also saod she was above 18 and the court allowed the groom the custody based on nikkahnama. When matters reached supreme curt, they said nikkahnama doesnt prove a persons age no matter what.

The daughters custody was handed over to the mother.

Because ary is very pro pti.

KARACHI: Mehdi Ali Kazmi, father of teenage girl Dua Zehra, has pleaded to the Sindh High Court (SHC) for recovery of his daughter, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Teenager Dua Zehra had left Karachi in April to marry a boy in Lahore purportedly with her own free will.

Her father in his petition pleaded to the court to issue orders to the SSP East, SHO Alfalah police station and the investigation officer of the case for recovery of Dua Zehra.

He seeks the high court’s order to the investigation officer for recovery of his daughter and producing her before the court.

“She was 14 years of age when her Nikah solemnized, her age is 13 according to the NADRA record,” the petitioner further said.

“She is underage and cannot be legally married under Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013”, he pleaded.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dua Zehra’s family had approached police, hours after she went missing from near her house in Alfalah Town in Karachi on April 16, and had appealed through a number of channels for help in finding their daughter.

Days after disappearance, police found out that Dua Zehra had married a boy named Zaheer in Lahore.

A Lahore court allowed Dua Zehra to live with her husband. The Model Town court, while issuing verdict on police’s plea to send the girl (14-year-old according to her father’s claim and 18-year-old as per her own) to Dar-ul-Aman, rejected the police request and allowed Dua Zehra to live with her husband Zaheer Ahmed.

ARY

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the Home Department, IG Sindh, SSP Sharqi, SHO Al-Falah Police Station and Dua Zehra's husband Zaheer Ahmed on her father's appeal regarding the teenager’s alleged abduction and early marriage.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard the plea earlier today. In the petition, Dua Zehra's father had stated that his daughter had been abducted.

“My daughter was forcibly married. She should be brought to court to find out the facts,” the petition read. He pleaded that the court should record Dua's statement and that police officials should be directed to bring her to court.

The petitioner had also asked the court to provide protection to the family and that the marriage of Dua Zehra and Zaheer be declared illegal.

During the hearing today, the petitioner's lawyer told the court that the parents wanted to meet Dua and that a kidnapping case has been registered against Zaheer Ahmed.

Justice Kalhoro remarked that the problem with the case was that the girl has herself given a statement in court. To which, Justice Agha Faisal inquired why they were not presenting the statement and record of the girl.

In the statement, the teenage girl had denied that she had been kidnapped and said she had married of her own will on April 17. She had also maintained that her life was in danger if she returned to Karachi.

Petitioner's counsel told the court that the parents were getting information on Dua from social media. “We don't know anything about Dua Zehra. The investigating officer only left for Lahore a day before yesterday [Sunday],” he said.

The lawyer maintained that the petitioner had come to know through social media that Zaheer Ahmed had married Dua Zehra in Lahore. According to her registered date of birth, Dua was 14 years old at the time of marriage.

Underage marriage is an offense under the Child Marriage Restriction Act 2013.

Subsequently, the court issued notices to Sindh Home Department, IG Sindh, SSP Sharqi, SHO Al-Falah Police Station and Zaheer Ahmed seeking a response by May 19.

On Sunday, the investigating officer in the case had filed an interim challan in the court in which provisions for underage marriage abetment had been included whereby Zaheer Ahmed, the alleged prime suspect, Nikahkhwa Ghulam Mustafa and Nikah witnesses Shehzad and Asghar Ali have been declared absconders in the case.

The provisions of the Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act have also been included in the case.

The investigating officer had asked for a period of 15 days for the presentation of the final challan of the case on Sunday.

He said Dua Zehra has to undergo a DNA and medical examination. The plaintiff's lawyer added that the court had given the police eight days to submit the final challan.

LAHORE: Police on Wednesday arrested the cleric who solemnised the nikkah of Dua Zehra — the 14-year-old girl who had mysteriously gone missing from Karachi in April but later declared that she had run away from her home to marry 21-year-old Zaheer Ahmed, Geo News reported.

According to the police, cleric Qari Hafiz Ghulam Mustafa performed a “bogus nikkah” of the minor and her husband as it is illegal in Sindh to marry off people under the age of 18. Meanwhile, the age limit for someone to get married in Punjab is 16 years.

Police further revealed that in order to interrogate the cleric, who belonged to the Samanabad area of Lahore, he has been shifted to an unknown location.

Two days ago, in a video message, Dua had claimed that the couple's life was in danger.

"While the Constitution and the law of this country allow me to marry whomever I want and I can live wherever I want under the law, my life is in danger," she had said.

Dua had said that she had recorded a statement in the court in favour of her husband but despite that, the Sindh and Punjab police were "harassing her and her husband" and were carrying out an "illegal search."

"The Sindh police want to kidnap me and my husband, so if anything happens to us, the Sindh police, Punjab police, and my parents will be responsible for that."

Dua further said that she is "happily married and is living a peaceful life in Lahore," adding that her in-laws were treating her very well.

The father of Dua Zahra had approached the Sindh High Court for the recovery of his daughter as he claims she was underage.

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to all parties concerned, including the girl's husband, on the petition filed by Dua Zahra's father for her recovery.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday expressed anger over Sindh police and other concerned authorities after they failed to present Karachi teenage girl Dua Zehra in court, ARY News reported.

A two-member bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard Dua’s father petition seeking the recovery of teenage girl, who had gone missing from her Karachi home and later surfaced in Punjab.

The Sindh High Court in a previous hearing directed SSP of District East and SHO Al-Falah Police Station to produce Dua Zehra in court in the next hearing.

During today’s hearing, the court expressed annoyance over Sindh police for priducing Dua Zera in court. “State seems totally helpless in bringing back teenage girl to Karachi,” Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro observed.

“Police is holding press conferences but not taking practical steps,” the SHC judge remarked.

Her father in his petition had pleaded to the court to issue orders to the SSP East, SHO Alfalah police station and the investigation officer of the case for recovery of Dua Zehra.

Meanwhile, the cleric who solemnised the nikkah of Dua Zehra was arrested from Lahore and handed over to Anti Violent Crime Cell, Karachi.

Days after disappearance, police found out that Dua Zehra had married a boy named Zaheer in Lahore.

A Lahore court allowed Dua to live with her husband. The Model Town court, while issuing verdict on police’s plea to send the girl (14-year-old according to her father’s claim and 18-year-old as per her own) to Dar-ul-Aman, rejected the police request and allowed Dua Zehra to live with her husband Zaheer Ahmed.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued a show-cause notice to Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Dr Kamran Fazal over the police’s failure to recover Dua Zehra, who claimed to have married a youngster Zaheer Ahmed out of her own free will, ARY NEWS reported.

Advocate General Sindh while sharing details of the efforts made to recover the girl said before the court that her location has been traced to Mansehra.

“It appears that some cops are helping her after information of police raid was leaked to them, resulting in their escape from the location,” he said and asked the court to summon DIG Hazara and issue directives for her recovery.

The AG Sindh said that some lawyers and policemen are also supporting the girl. “IG Sindh is in contact with the officials in Hazara, who have assured that they would recover the girl in a day or two,” he said.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro responded to the remarks and said that it is the responsibility of the Sindh police to recover the girl rather than shifting the blame to others. “Next time you could say that the girl’s location has been traced from Afghanistan. What will we do then?” he said and admonished the police for their lack of implementation of court orders for the last 21 days.

Justice Agha Faisal during the hearing said that the court is issuing a show-cause notice to the IG Sindh and will issue an order in this regard shortly. “If the girl is recovered by Friday, we will withdraw our show-cause notice,” he said.

Karachi Police in a major operation along with Punjab Police have recovered Karachi’s Dua Zehra from Bahawalnagar, ARY News reported on Sunday.

According to ARY News, Karachi police in a joint operation with Punjab police rescued Dua Zehra from Bahawalnagar and arrested her husband Zaheer and the sheltering facilitator.

According to police officials, Dua Zehra and Zaheer are in the custody of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) who are being shifted from Bahawalnagar to Karachi, while the facilitator is being shifted to Lahore by Punjab police for interrogation.

SSPAVCC Zubair Nazir Sheikh said that raids were carried out all over Pakistan for the recovery of the girl.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday ordered that Dua Zehra — the teenage girl who went missing from Karachi's Shah Faisal Colony in April — be sent to a shelter home and a medical test be carried out to determine her age.

The order was passed by Justice Junaid Ghaffar after the police presented the teenager and Zaheer Ahmed, the boy she is said to have contracted marriage with, before the court amid tight security a day after they were recovered from Bahawalnagar.

Dua's parents, the Sindh Advocate General, and police officials were among those present in court.

When the teenager entered the courtroom today, her mother tried to embrace her but was stopped by the court police, who said that they didn't have permission to meet the girl.

During the hearing, Dua recorded her statement before the court, claiming that she was 18 years old. "I was not kidnapped. I married Zaheer of my free will and want to live with him," she said.

For his part, the counsel of Mehdi Kazmi, Dua's father, contended that the birth certificate of the girl was present with the court. "They clearly show that she was born on April 27, 2008, which proves that she is 14 years and a few months old," he said.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Advocate General argued that no crime had taken place in the province. "The girl has said that she went of her free will," he pointed out, reiterating that "no crime" occurred in Sindh and that the marriage was contracted in Punjab.

Here, Justice Ghaffar remarked: "This means that the petition regarding her recovery has now become redundant.

"The girl is standing in front of us and is saying that no one abducted her," he added, and subsequently ordered that Dua be sent to a shelter home and a medical test be carried out to determine her age.

Meanwhile, at one point during the proceedings, Dua's parents requested the court to grant them permission to meet her for 10 minutes. However, the teenager refused.

"What can we do when she, herself, has refused," Justice Ghaffar said. "[Her] parents are standing here ... they are worried ... but we have to consider the law."

The case
The girl’s parents lodged a case in Karachi on April 16, alleging that their daughter was kidnapped and forced into child marriage.

Ten days later, Dua appeared on the media along with Zaheer Ahmed and announced they had married in Lahore. She denied that she was kidnapped and alleged that her parents were lying about her age as she was 18 years old.

When she was first taken into custody on April 26, a Lahore court had allowed the teenager "to go wherever she wanted to and be set at liberty from the premises of the court as desired by her to go wherever she wants to".

However, Dua's parents were adamant that their daughter had been kidnapped and said that she had been forced to give the statement.

The teenager's father, later, approached the SHC last month with a plea against the Punjab court's orders. Mehdi stated in the petition that as per her educational documents, birth certificate and other records, Dua’s age was 13 and under the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2013, it was illegal to marry a minor/underage.

He had asked the court to order a medical examination of his daughter.

In the following days, Karachi police repeatedly failed to produce the teenager in court, earning the judges' ire.

On Sunday, Dua and Ahmad were recovered from Chishtian and brought to Karachi.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued a written order in the Dua Zahra case, observing no evidence was found that the girl had been abducted.

“I got married of my own free will. No one kidnapped me; I want to go with my husband Zaheer and do not wish to see my parents,” revealed Zehra in a statement recorded under oath of the Holy Quran before the SHC.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar, in its written order, said that the girl stated that she was 17 to 18 years old and had married out of her own free will. The bench observed that Dua claims that her father had filed a false case of kidnapping, though he knew that she had gone on her own free will. “No evidence was found of the girl's abduction,” the court remarked.

The bench directed that the girl be sent to a shelter home and ordered the submission of a report on June 8 after conducting a medical examination to determine her age. Police had taken Dua Zehra and Zaheer Ahmed to Sindh High Court under tight security after they were recovered from the Chishtian tehsil of Bahawalnagar.

DAWN

The ossification test carried out on Dua Zahra on Tuesday has revealed that the girl is between 16 to 17 years of age while it has also been confirmed by radiologist Dr Saba Jamil.

Dua — the 14-year-old girl who had mysteriously gone missing from Karachi in April but later declared that she had run away from her home to marry 21-year-old Zaheer Ahmed — was brought before the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday.

However, Dua's father Mehdi Kazmi has expressed reservations over the medical report of his daughter and termed it "a false report".

In this regard, Kazmi wrote a letter to the health secretary, demanding another medical test for his daughter in the presence of the parents. He also demanded that a medical board be formed to verify Dua's age.

He said that action should be taken against those involved in the fake medical test and reports.

"We have all the documents of Dua's age and her date of birth is April 27, 2008. We were not allowed to meet our daughter and the investigation officers are also hesitating to conduct a DNA test," he added.

The SHC had ordered the authorities to conduct a test on Dua to determine her actual age and present her before the court again on June 8.

On Sunday, Dua was recovered by the police from the Chishtian area of Bahawalnagar after 1.5 months of being away from her Karachi home.

Confirming the report, Anti-Violent Crime Cell SSP Zubair Nazir Sheikh said that Dua and her husband had been taken into protective custody. The couple was recovered from a lawyer’s house by the CIA police.

Earlier, Dua's family had lodged a report about her abduction on April 16, however, she later revealed on the internet that she had tied the knot with Zaheer.
