The rebuilding happened in 10-20 overs from 24/4 to 70/4.The next 5 overs(with swing/seam conditiongs negated earlier) the score reads 77/5. 5 overs 7 runs instead of 17-20 runs which would have made the end result different.when dhoni came to bat,india needed 6.25 runs per over with 5 wickets in hand.He did no good,not being able to rotate strike or scoring at run a ball. pant threw it awat,dhoni too did not help with his batting approach.

I think the start was costly but when Pandya and Pant were set, NZ kept it tight and then they gave their wickets away. If one of them had been able to accelerate in that period India would have probably won the game.

India lost the game when Pandya was out. Brainless shot really. He knew better than Pant. I can excuse Pant but not Pandya. With Dhoni on the other side, playing a shot like that is ridiculous. It's is because of Dhoni India went close to the target. Not sure if the result would have been different if he batted at 4 and guided Pant and Pandya. It's a joke you are blaming Dhoni. Total risk free cricket and brought the team to the brink. The nincompoops at the top had to bat for 10 overs. That's it. Rahul will remain a mental midget and Kohli should know better how a batsman is setup. A bunch of away deliveries and he became a sitting duck for an inswinger by going too far across the stumps. Dhoni left a huge gap in the middle overs now that he will retire. Kohli needs to bat at 4 and guide the youngsters at 5, 6. Entire middle order needs to be revamped

Not accelerate. Play out. Catching upto RR with wickets in hand is not tough. Pitch was easier to bat on at the back end as it was in the NZ innings.

First 5 or 6 overs. Even if one of the two had survived It was India's match to lose. IT is a fact if India loses Rohit early we could lose. Check the two matches where india lost Rohit early. 1) vs Afghanistan we almost bottled 2) vs NZ we lost.

Rohit's wicket is more important than Kohli's wicket. Reason is Rohit and Dhawan often protects Kohli from facing the new ball. When that doesn't happen Kohli becomes hugely vulnerable against quality attack in slightly helpful condition.

You can nitpick all these so called passages like nerds but India lost the world cup in 2017 itself. This was bound to happen and all sensible Indian posters here had predicted it beforehand. We were hoping and praying this will happen in group stages and not knockouts but our prayers went unanswered.
