"Virat Kohli? Hoga Apne Ghar Ka Kohli" : Sohail Khan

I think from Individual point of view Sohail had a day that he will remember forever in his life

we all here criticised his selection and in his 1st game after 4 years he takes a fifer against Arch Rivals, you cant do better than that

if scoring a hundred is termed as clueless, then yes kohli was. A thumping moral victory for shoail and pakistan then.

Even a Gullywala bacha can score hundred or even 150 if he is dropped 4 times :yk.

On the point, This is a thread regarding 'Sohail Mighty Khan's' comment over Kohli. Kohli was completely unsettled against Sohail and looked clueless. he ultimately got owned by the 5-fer Khan towards the end. Sher Khan simply owned Kohli(harsh fact)!!!

Yes still 'clueless' still good enough to destroy your team single-handedly. Imagine what 'kohli at his best' can do.

Yup heard it before
Example :
1) Sachin was clueless against Ajmal in 2011 is what is claimed. Fact ...he scored 85 as won match for India ( Not his fault if your players cant catch what even schoolboys can)
Similarly now Kohli was clueless but he still laid foundation and scores 100 but according to some blind fans he was owned by /sohail.

Well Sohail and Ahmal can own whatever they want the final result was a Indian win and your loss...thats what counts

Figures of 7-33 in second innings where he out bowled Mohammad Amir. Looks like he has attained fitness.

Kohli is way out of form these days. "Ghar ka Kohli" also looks debatable. Needs a real good series vs Steyn and co.

You're about two series too late with that "way out of form" comment. The SA ODI series was the most in form he has looked since the Australia Test series.

He's a shell of his former self. Apart from that 100 he looked completely lost

Not sure but that 137 against SA was his best knock till date while batting first..He looked good in that match and wasn't scratchy like his 100 against pak in WC.

Sohail took 5 wickets alright that day .... but you forgot to mention that 4 of the 5 were during the last 2 or 3 overs when the Indians were throwing their bats at everything and gifting their wickets away !!!!

To me throwing their wicket away would mean they go for a wild slog and get caught on the boundry but that's not what happened. He surprised them with bouncers and outsmarted Rahane with a slower ball

Yeah because taking 13 odd wickets in 7 games is completely a liability right??

It was not a great or outstanding worldcup for sohail but not an average or below average one.

It was a good worldcup for him.

He bowled well in death overs with good brain and variation. And wickets column remained healthy.

Against India he restricted them 20 , 30 runs short with that spell .

Considering comeback after 4 years after at the age of 30 , 31 it was a good outing. He bowled his heart out and was brave and courageous. New ball swing , control and mostly he was fast medium.

Had he been abit light weight and flexible than his performance would have been more better.

You are right in your judgement .

He was the only man to really swing the new ball!

He also had some good pace. Plus we don't have any right arm fast bowler. Anwar Ali can't swing anymore. We also need his services in Test arena. I hope he gets back soon, legend took fifer in debut game against india

probably still a useful option for ODIS in the short term

I would rather use this time to work on the younger bowlers, rather than playing a 30 year-old who's not very good and won't be around for the next World Cup. Give Junaid a recall, give Mir Hamza and Zia-ul-Haq debuts but bringing Sohail back would be a nothing decision.

Junaid you know im a fan of but his injury really seems to have hurt his progress, dont think he should be back yet.

Mir Hamaza i wouldnt mind

Zia ul Haq i find to be a left handed Talha

Big fan of Ehsan but he is constantly injured

I would like another Right Hander in the team, right now the only ones or Amin and Anwar

A right-handed bowler would be nice but not necessary. The selectors should be looking at youngsters with good potential right now. These periods before major ODI tournaments are the time to blood these youngsters into the team.

I don't believe he's an upgrade over Junaid. Nice try.

The only area where Junaid can match him is death bowling. Junaid at his prime, I mean.

Sohail got new ball swing most importantly, and reverse swing which was probably better than Junaid's.

Are you seriously saying that Sohail is better than a prime Junaid? The same Junaid that was in the top three wicket-takers in 2013, with a Wasim-esque average and who destroyed Indian in India? The same Junaid that bowled very well against Sri Lanka on absolute dead tracks? The same Junaid that helped us achieve our first ever series win against South Africa, in South Africa?

I need a moment.

And Sohail didn't get a chance to play for us yet, apart from the World Cup. Nothing suggests he will have less success specially on dead tracks, he's very good at reverse swing, death bowling, as well as new ball swing, which Juni lacks.

Junaid had a good start like B Kumar, but bowlers too get found out or fade away. He can't even displace Imran Khan now.

So Sohail "didn't get a good chance to play for us yet" (sic), but in your last post you implied that he was already better at everything than Junaid, other than death-bowling.

Sohail lacks the pace, accuracy and intelligence that Junaid displayed before his injury and subsequent loss of form. I have seen nothing which suggests that he'll come anywhere close to matching what an in-form Junaid can do, nor is he going to improve much from here on out, being 30 years of age.

Junaid will be back, the management and selectors haven't forgotten his potential, even if most of the fans have.

Mediocre bowler, we don't need him anymore.
He is not mediocre. Mediocre bowlers dont produce great spells on big occasions. His spell against India in the WC was one of the best. Also against RSA in the WC, when de Villiers was on a hitting spree but he neutralized him in the end.

He is our best new ball bowler in ODIs. And is decent in the death overs as well.

Also he got 7 wickets in an innings in a FC game out performing Amir. Which is some achievement.

Mir Hamza and Zia ul Haq must improve their List A record first. They are averaging in 30s with the ball. We need to select bowlers who are averaging under 25 in List A at least.

Well Sohail cant be better than the prime Junaid only because he hasnt played much. If we get to see Sohail's prime then we can compare.

I'm not a fan of Junaid at all but are people seriously calling Sohail Khan a better option? Phew

Those five wickets were gifted and India scored 300+. What was the point? He's a mediocre bowler, like I said, so he will have the occasional good performance but can't perform consistently.

Yes, so how do you justify people calling him better than Junaid? The fact that he at the age of 30 hasn't played as much as a 25 year-old has should tell you something.

That's ur opinion but not mine! It was one of the best spells for me! So he aint a mediocre bowler for me!

Well I wont compare him to Junaid at international level as Junaid is a proven performer in the past! But generally I find Sohail Khan to be a skillful bowler (not compared to Junaid etc)! Hence I want his remaining 4-5 years of cricket to be utilized properly by the PCB!

We can agree to disagree but I like this innovative posting style of yours. :)

Should have played today instead of Iftikhar Ahmed.

I want Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanveer , Rumman Raees, Hasan Ali , Taj Wali & Zia ul Haq to compete for 3rd pacer spot.

Sohail Khan in his last 2 list A games took 9 wickets so he is in great form.

Hope he plays tommorow.

Sohail took 3 wickets in last 2 overs when the Indians were throwing their bats at everything .... so that should not be a big deal !!!

Rohit Sharma ho ga ghar ka Sharma..Pakistan ain't no Bangladesh. This time we got our pace battery back.Get ready for #greenstorm ,India.

Another 5 wicket haul for Sohail Sher Khan.

Sami's PSL bluffed us once again. Kaash ye fail hota PSL mein.

fivefer against quality sialkot batting lineup.

Last 1 or 2 peak years of Sohail Khan left but he won't be of any use in the long run. Because he cannot play next worldcup.

I thought Sami did quite well except the last match, much better than Amir. In NZ match where they scored 180 and Saint Amir went for 40 runs, Sami had match figures of 4 overs, 23 for 2. For some reason many Pakistanis hate Sami and make him scapegoat.

Sami is horrible. Saint Amir has won many games for us against Top teams. Despite Saint Amir's 2 very poor games it's a blasphemy to name Sami with the Saint Amir in one line.

Sami was as miserable as pathetic against Australia as not even lower ranked associate teams pacers.

Angel Sami's Career is over. Alhamdoulillah.

What games has Amir won since his comeback? What games did Amir win outside of England in all formats where even RP Singh won a series for India? I am genuinely curious

I thought Sohail Khan was very average in the world cup. He was constantly trying to bang it in and even though he got some wickets he was easy to hot around.

However, in the PSL he was very impressive. He had good shape on the new ball but with the old ball he was bowling fantastic in swinging yorkers. A real lost art for our fast bowlers.

He had a good worldcup. He swung the new ball at decent fast medium pace and bowled mostly in good length spot. In death overs he used slower bouncer, slower balls and fast yorkers to good affect.

He made comeback to international cricket after 3 years straight into the worldcup. Considering that his performance was satisfactory.

Sami performed at the wrong time and blocked the way of Sohail Khan and Hasan Ali. Sami had two horrible games in Asia Cup & WT20.

Aamir has not won anything since his comeback (yeah obvious I know) and he is not likely to win anything till Pakistan has a decent batting line-up. People who think bowlers can win LOIs singlehandedly are quite clueless.

Such big mouth Ajmals and Sohails, who bad mouthed Sachin and Kohli, came and got lost in the oblivion and our Kohlis and Sachins continued to become legends.

Hmm I didn't think he bowled well in the world cup. He kept trying to compete with Riaz by bowling short and even though he got wickets he isn't express so was punished quite a bit.

He looked impressive in Psl and so was Hassan Ali but as usual our selectors go with Sami who always flatters to deceive on the big stage.

Going foward I would like to see us choose from Aamir, Hassan, Junaid, Sohail Khan and possibly Riaz in the pace bowling department.

Indianfan

When you are part of a group of ordinary players than its very hard to motivate yourself. Seeing such misery of your team your confidence gets affected.

Amir is the only fast bowler who has given Asian Cup winners and World T20 semifinalists some fight.

We feel the same about Amir's WT20 the way you felt about Virat Kohli's tour of England.

The whole world calls Amir Worldclass not because of the face he has got. But the skill he possessess.

And this Saint Saint Nonsense should end now. A 16-17 years old kid was lured and forced by the captain and agent to do a bad thing where the kid was not able to weight the situation and did not have the strength to Say No and thought I ll ball a no ball which won't have any impact on the match result. He did not know that it's a trap set by a fake journalist and fake sheikh and it's a sting operation and his career will be dumped for 5 years and doing it is a crime a Sin.

He got punished for it. And he realised it.

Now get over this Saint Saint Bakwaseeat and just discuss the good or bad performance of the player.

Where did he bad mouth Kohli? Isn't Kohli India's (his own house's) Kohli?

The no of bad days Amir has had at the office significantly less than the number of bad days Sami has had at the office in his entire career. Stats dont lie.

Cricket is not finished. One should judge Amir on a wholesale level after atleast a year, but his workload needs to be managed, their is a huge risk that the captain and team management will make him bowl more and more overs as he is our main bowler.

He will be exposed soon. His honeymoon is already over.

Lol. In cricket, even hacks like Dilshan and Guptill can have decent careers as batsmen, but it requires absolute skill to master the art of bowling, especially pace bowling. A bowler can hit the stumps without the batsman even being there, but can a batsman flick his wrist for a six without the bowler? The margin of error for a batsman is huge (LBW needs ball to hit in line, drop catches, edges going for four), but if a bowler errs, he has to pay the price.

In Sachin vs Wasim, the former is considered a god, while the latter has received far less acclaim when the latter has put in harder yards and has shown more skill than the former. An Indian bowler at a similar cricketing level as Sachin would have been Zeus in India, with Sachin coming in second.

If Amir reaches close to the stature of Wasim, he'll be a better cricketer than Kohli (even if he surpasses Sachin), although the latter will get more fame simple because India is overpopulated.

All he does is bowl no balls and I hear the oomphhhh while he is bowling ...

he should play some 5 overs match because this is his limit test cricket is way beyond his fitness...absolute trundler and useless post Tea day 1.

I am heart broken for fivefer lad, fighter, son of malakand, son of pakistan, pride of pakistan.

I was early into my School days when I started watching Cricket. My memories recall one of my childhood hero who carried those mustaches and that famous head band. A player who stood up against the mighty fast strong team with spectacular performances.

Years later that guy was hard done by sadly.

Today history is repeating and some one else is on the receiving end and guess what who is behind this :'(

Just watched the video of unsung hero of Pakistan with his fivefers. 2 of them from England tour and its really sad.

the management and selectors are the hypocrites and run our cricket like Mafia.

Forget Sohail's bowling, he would be a better hitter than most of our batsmen. You can bet your bottom dollar that he'll be a better lower order batsman than Umar Akmal right now.

Heck, If I was in the management I would have recomended trying him out as an opener, just like Narine. I'm sure It would have paid off more than half of the time on flat pitches.

We have no one in the management who wants to be fair and do everything for the sake of the country and put the personal feelings aside, think outside of the box.

He has attitude of a fast bowler and he can take wickets. Far better bowler than Wahab and trundlers like Tanvir and Rahat. He should be part of our bowling attack for CT
