I don't think anyone would disagree that the mid 1980s to 2000 was the golden era of Pakistan cricket. Knowing Imran, he is bound to add spice to it by making statements like this. A bit poor coming from a PM but to each his own.

Thing is one could have easily disagreed with Imran by saying he is wrong (Indian cricketing structure is not good or Pakistan doesnt have tent, whatever) and talked in the cricketing terms but, no. The intentions were pretty clear from some posters that its not about putting across a point rather being cringy and act funny.

So once the discussion goes there, all sorts of avenues open for everybody else too and people starting should be getting and should be able to take them on the chin as well.

What Imran said is the truth. It's certainly not political as he has said similar before being PM and about other teams like Graham Gooch at the 1992 WC final toss, and especially Allan Border's attitude in the same tournament with him mentioning Border's negative mindset with comments such as "What if we lose?" to the Aussie media.

I don't understand the offence taken (from some Indian fans) and why people put everything down to political, especially as its Imran's point of view as captain which he has a right too.

The other truth side to it which hasn't probably be mentioned is that now at present and since 2003 or 2007 its the other way round i.e. most Pak captains probably look scared as India are now the much better team (unlike the 1980's and 1990's). Now as a Pak fan I am not offended if someone says similar about recent Pak teams and captains, especially in WC matches.

Bro you can look at my debut, its not like I have joined last month (3 years later than you). I think we have interacted before as well, I know you and believe that you are a pretty good poster. Thing is Kohli and Sachin are not PMs of the country so I would assume that talking about the PM of a country in a same manner just because he has given view about cricket and is an ex cricketer is not on same level. Further, you are talking about catering the suckers and what not.

I have no issues at all with that as its an open forum and everyone can share views however, when views go into the direction of topics which are not cricket related and targeting an individual who is more than a cricketer currently than obviously things get to drift away.

I also meant no disrespect but, just shared my views regarding the topic where the discussion was going. If you have seen me post before you will also know that I am a pretty unbiased poster more often than not.

Fair enough. I also believe nobody needs to defend any PM here especially on the cricket side of the forum so we should keep the discussion purely around cricket. I wasnt sure of your views as talked about catering some people.

Imran is absolutely right. A war inflicted country with below par domestic cricket and zero home matches has produced some outstanding victories.

Champions trophy win, t20 world cup win, a drawn series in england, odi series win in Ind and Sa.

Now imagine what can this team achieve with a strong domestic cricket and by playing at home. I reckon we will be a top side in 5 years.
