But he was not the coach for that series. Gillespie was. Aqib did the selections and changed the pitch after the first test against England.
In the first series as test coach, we drew to an very average West Indies side at home. And Pakistan would have lost the series if there was third test match as they could not handle that spinning legend Jomel Warrican!

Aqib made the Brave changes which led to a victory.
 
For some reason in a day of scientific training, data science etc Aquib Javed seems like a throw back to the old school gym trainer of some akhada/vyayamshala. The kind that will ask to do 100 pushups, 10 rounds around the ground for training/ discipline and believes that extra paratha with ghee is great protein. Not a good fit I feel to coach international teams maybe for junior level.

Frankly, with a team like yours, even Phil Jackson or Bill Belichick wouldn’t be able to do jack. Blaming the coach for deeper issues is the easy way out, and that’s what everyone is doing, unfortunately.
 
Needs to be shown the door with immediate effect. He is a complete failure with no intelligence and vision and is still living off a fluke interview.

If he was the tactical genius that his clown fans champion him to be, he would have found a way to address the current situation but he is clueless.

Didn't Aqib say pre match the bowling attack would restrict NZ to 200? That worked out well didn't it.

Do you seriously believe rizwan is some helpless puppet who can't make his own decisons in regards to the playing 11?
 
I believe Rizwan has no say in selection. Aqib is the King maker.

Naqvi has taken cricket Pakistan to new depths. LOL

Bhai these guys are adults, not kids. Rizwan has a full say in selection and playing 11 as well.

Misbah era was an exception because sarfi was losing favour with the crowd atm and his replacement was imminent irrespective of what misbah was going to do. Misbah accelerated it though.

And ofcourse babar era as the chairman sucked up to him.

Currently while internal conflicts exist, rizwan isn't entirely helpless and does make decisons.

During ct 2025 while people blame aqib for forcing the selection of faheem, people forget that rizwam forced the selection of khushdil and was against a spin galore strategy altogether. And where did khusdil end up bowling wise?

When it comes to t20, rizzu and babar were forced to rest due to media pressure, not because aqib hates them lol.

Rizwan isn't a helpless child so much so that you take the entire blame of ove him and blame Aqib 100%.

Everyone knows CT 2025 Squad was a mix of these 2 consistently wanting a certain squad selected and eventually settling on in the middle.

For example

Babar as Opener: Aqib's decision.

Saud shakeel inclusion: Rizwan's decison due to red ball series vs sa where he liked batting with saud

Faheem ashraf: Aqib decison

Khushdil shah: Aqib decisons

Fakhar's reinclusion: Was going to happen anyway after saim got injured and Abdullah went on a duck streak. Both agreed.

Kamran ghulam inclusion: aqib

They both fought and eventually a middle ground was agreed upon which resulted in a mess. However both these 2 are unwilling to try out domestic talent in odi cricket it seems.

On top of it, Faheem can’t make the side to add balance.

Exactly, they get exactly what they wanted! Yet they continue to look for scapegoats as usual!

Aaqib Javed reminds us of some PL relegation club manager, no clue whatsoever team sliding down drastically

Has he achieved anything tangible , even jn NCA he ruined guys like Anwar Ali. More like Bollywoods D-category Director ' go to struggling actor who he will cast as hero no matter how many flops he had in his career.

PSL X has clearly shown that the real issue lies with Rizwan and Babar both of their teams are at the bottom of the table.

What Babar and Rizwan achieved between 2019 and 2022 is now part of history. It's time for everyone to move forward instead of holding on to past performances.

Not that they did anything meaningful but that was their peak

This is not about PSL bro... Aaqib was Pakistan head coach not Lahore qalandars.

Tell me about his tenure and Pakistan's performance under him??


Pakistan is now number 8 in t20Is, 7th in tests and 5 in ODIs.
 
The analogy that Riz and Babar's team is out so they are the problem then what about Shan Masood who failed to hold on his place in KK , what to do with him???

It's not even an analogy it's just common sense. The entire team is built around two players who can’t even perform at the domestic level, yet fanboys expect them to work miracles in international cricket. Drop these two, rebuild the team from scratch, and then come talk to me in a year.

Yes, it is. If Pakistan’s so-called star players are struggling in domestic tournaments, what makes you think they’ll suddenly perform miracles on the international stage? These aren’t young players who need coaching they’re experienced, and we’re talking about five of them, which is basically half the team. and they have been rubbish international and domestic

Aqib really has to be genious first he made spin pitches to beat england with sajid and noman made pakistan fans believe that spin is your weapon to beat sena teams then he removed both riz babar which no other would have dared to do so now you see pakistan t20 whole new look great guy.
