So happy to see Abid Ali playing in QAE trophy . He is an inspiration to many people who think having a heart attack is end of life and a disability. Take home message , if anyone has any symptoms , even milder which could be early sign of angina , get it checked, don;t sit on it and don;t be in denial .

Last year in December, Abid Ali was batting at 61 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi when he was rushed to a cardiac hospital. He was diagnosed with a case of Acute Coronary Syndrome that kept him away from cricket for four months. On Friday, batting against the same opposition, albeit at a different venue, the right-hander scored his first first-class century since returning to first-class cricket.

Abid scored a brilliant 159 off 287 balls that saw Central Punjab to 418 for seven - in reply of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s imposing 436 - at the close of third day’s at the LCCA Ground in round seven of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2022-23. Over the course of what was his 26th first-class ton, Abid struck 21 fours and two sixes in almost a six-hour-long innings that began yesterday evening.

Wonderful , Abid Ali is an inspiration for young people who suffer a heart condition . It can be managed and one can resume his normal life with no limitations , if stays disciplined .

That Strike rate is very 90ish style cricket. If you end up facing these many deliveries in an ODI then you should be able to end your innings with a strike rate of 150 at least.

I wouldn't have minded abid being in the squad vs England. We can work with a batting order of Abdullah, imam, abid, Babar, Shakeel, in Pakistan.
 
How much we are missing Abid Ali in these conditions?

He used to dominate in these conditions for fun, he toyed with Bangladesh bowlers in Bangladesh and see how Indian top order is struggling.

He is a proper Asian pitches basher, played with very good SR unlike tuk tuk Azhar Ali and Abdullah Shafique.
 
I don’t think we are missing him at all. Having him in the team would make a marginal difference if anything at all.
 
In today’s nine-round match, Central Punjab defeated Southern Punjab by 64 runs on the back of the century from their captain Abid Ali.

After being asked to bat first, Central Punjab posted 313 for five in 50 overs. Test cricketer and Central Punjab’s skipper Abid Ali coming to bat at number three scored a 118-ball 105, which included six fours and two sixes. He and opening batter Imran Dogar added 163 runs for the second wicket after Shawaiz Irfan’s departure for 11 with 23 runs on the board. Fahad Munir was other notable contributor with the bat, scoring 47 not out off 43 balls, smashing three fours and one six.
 
On this day in 2019, Abid Ali became the third Pakistan batter to score a 100 on ODI debut when he scored 112 against Australia in Dubai.

Abid Ali hit his 28th First Class century 121(180) for SNGPL against PTV, and reached 10,000 First Class runs during the second round of President's Trophy 2023-24

He is the 55th Pakistani batsman to reach the massive 10k milestone in FC cricket.

In the fourth round of President's Trophy 2023-24, Abid Ali scored 61 runs off 108 balls as the opener in the 1st innings for SNGPL against KRL on Day 2.

He appears to be in good form and rhythm. Perhaps Wahab Riaz could consider him for the home Test series.
 
Abid Ali, while giving an interview to a local media, spoke about his health and rehabilitation journey:

"Absolutely, it was a very difficult time, and I was following the doctors' advice. The Pakistan Cricket Board provided a lot of help during that time. Obviously, at that time, I was thinking that maybe I couldn't play cricket. But all the doctors and the PCB, all the doctors and the other doctors on the panel, they granted me permission. My rehabilitation continued. Alhamdulillah after that I've been playing every season and also giving performances thanks to Allah."
 
In the fifth round of the President's Trophy 2023-24, Abid Ali scored 147 (183) which marked his 29th First-Class century. An excellent knock by the opening batter for SNGPL in the first innings against WAPDA.

Sad for this guy as he started Test cricket as one of the promising young cricketer but due to his illness he lost his prime years during which he could have established himself into the team.
 
He was a very good batsman from what I saw. I know his old, but deserves one last chance in test cricket. Should replace Imam in the next test squad.
 
Abid Ali was peaking at that point when his career halted suddenly due to his heart condition, but he is still piling runs in the domestic and can still play for a good 2 years for Pakistan IMO.
