[VIDEOS] "All my hard work is being done with the aim of playing for Pakistan": Khurram Shahzad

Khurram Shahzad back from injury and playing his first match for the PZ today. Let's see how he performs.

Khurram Shahzad has made his mark as he made his comeback from injury on that Australia tour.

Playing for Pakistan Shaheen, this guy took 6 wickets for 72 runs in the 1st inning against Bangladesh A.

Looking good and fit. Let's see if he can make a comeback for the national team also as the home test series against Bangladesh is just around the corner.

Khurram Shahzad speaking during Pakistan Shaheens vs Bangladesh A post-day 3 interview:
"When we started bowling, it was difficult at that time, but gradually, as we assessed the conditions and bowled in the right areas, we achieved good results.”

“In the morning, when we started bowling, our plan was to bowl more maiden overs from both ends and not to let them score easily. We restricted runs from both ends, which led to us getting wickets.”

“Today was a very good day for us as a team. Mubasir Khan scored 95 runs, and Omair Bin Yousuf made a century. Thanks to their partnership, our total became quite strong. As a team, we will try to win this match when we come out tomorrow.”

“I always try to enjoy red-ball cricket. When I came to Australia last time, I enjoyed it a lot, and this is my second tour to Australia, so I have that experience. Our coach, Jason Gillespie, is teaching us a lot, which is helping me."

Don't over-hype him please..

Let's be realistic, he may be average at best. There is no talent in Pakistan anymore.

Pakistan cricket is dead, revival seems quite distant (if at all possible).

Cricket will not be the first sport we've destroyed. Hockey and squash are earlier victims.

This guy has worked hard and his comeback from injury is going fine atm.

Took another 3-fer against Bangladesh A in the ongoing four-day game in Darwin.

I think he should definitely be the squad for the home test series against Bangladesh.

He's become a wicket taker for sure. His steady bowling is especially suited to longer formats

3 wickets for this guy in the 2nd innings as well against Bangladesh A. I think he likes this figure of 3 wickets. But overall, a good bowler who can bowl tight lines and can take wickets as well.

Should definitely be in the team for the upcoming series at home.

Surely we cannot be judging someone based on their performances against Bangladesh...

We need to improve our performance metrics if we are to salvage any dignity left... This performance does not matter..

He did well in the OZ series too. He has a fluid action and good lines. If he stays fit he will become a solid test bowler.

Pakistan Shaheen's Khurram Shahzad is the top wicket-taker in the 2 Four-Day Match series against Bangladesh A in Darwin

Matches: 2

Wickets: 13

BBI: 6/72

Overs: 76.2

Bowling Economy: 3.52

Bowling Average: 20.69

Let's hope he does, but he couldn't close out the match against a weak team like Bangladesh...

Seems a bit over-rated at this point..

This guy is in my top 3 list for those who have had a wonderful Darwin tour with Pakistan Shaheens so far.

Even today against Bangladesh A in a 50-over game, he picked 2 wickets for just 24 runs. Definitely the guy to be selected for the Bangladesh Test series.

Khurram Shahzad had a costly outing in his brief 3-over spell against Bangladesh on Day 1 of the 1st Test at Rawalpindi, leaking 8 runs. His counterparts, Naseem Shah (5 overs, 7 runs) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (4 overs, 8 runs), were more frugal with their runs. The question remains: how will Khurram Shahzad redeem himself in tomorrow's play?

Big moment for him to prove that his performance in Australia wasn't a fluke.

Don't you think that criticizing him for going less than 3 RPO in a test match is a bit overboard when no other bowlers have taken a wicket yet?

Khurram started fine. It was a tough day for bowlers and the support from the pitch seems to be vanishing every passing over.

I hope that he bowls a tight channel and the results will come in his favor hopefully.

Still remember Mohammad Abbas used to bowl timber like Khurram Shehzad, but unfortunately he got sidelined. Hopefully Khurram serves Pakistan for long time

Khurram breaks 165 run partnership as he gets the wicket of Mehidy Hasan and completes his fifer.

DO YOU KNOW:

Khurram Shahzad is the first pacer to take fifer at home since 2021.

He is having a good Test. 6-fer already. Can he make it a 7-fer or an 8-fer?

I like his attitude. No wild celebration. Humble bloke.

No yar, i am not enjoying his bowling, to be honest without pace its not fun
He’s not express but he’s not a 120kph trundler either.. he’s a mid 130’s pacer who can move the ball both ways and I’ll take that over the rubbish we’ve seen the last couple of years

Honestly speaking Khurram Shahzad's bowling action is very similar to Dale Steyn's... same jump, same arm action and same release, pace might not be the same but otherwise he resembles very much like him.

I only saw the highlights (in which he looked very good) and a little bit of the live action - so my question to the faithful is does he look the part?

Pakistan's cricket team has received a welcome boost with news that fast bowler Khurram Shahzad has dodged a potentially serious injury. Shahzad, 24, was absent for most of the final day of the recent Test series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan lost 2-0.

Despite this, he played a crucial role in the series, claiming the second-most wickets and causing a dramatic collapse in Bangladesh's first innings, reducing them to 26-6.

Shahzad achieved his best-ever figures of 6-90 in the first innings, but was less effective in the second innings. Post-match scans revealed no fractures, and doctors have advised a brief period of rest. Barring any complications, Shahzad is expected to be fully fit for Pakistan's upcoming Test series against England.

Day 1, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25, Round 1:

Khurram Shahzad made a strong return to red-ball cricket after injury, claiming 4/42 for Faisalabad Region against Lahore Region Whites

What a comeback he's making after recovering from injury, claiming a 5-wicket haul (5/71) against Lahore Whites for Faisalabad on Day 2 of Round 1 of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024/25.

Khurram Shahzad bowled an impressive spell of 5-71 as Lahore Region Whites beat Faisalabad Region by five wickets at Diamond Ground, Islamabad.

If He can stay in the park he’s our best red ball seamer he’s not a world class talent but he’s decent and better then current Shaheen and Naseem

Unfortunately Khurmi you have no future because Pakistan will only 16 Tests in next 27 months, and 8 of those will be on spin wickets , so dear your chances of representing the country are bleak better keep it as a side hustle

Khurram Shahzad looks in good form after recovery from injury, bagging 4/32 on Day 1 of the first four-day match against Sri Lanka A for Pakistan Shaheens.

He should not be in A sides as I feel he is locked in as our first choice seamer when fit .
Shaheen games should be for upcoming unproven talents.

Good bowler but He is always injured
It’s weird since he mostly playing full FC seasons his fitness mostly becomes an issue when playing test cricket maybe he tries to bowl a yard or two faster then his natural limit while playing international cricket

Exceptional performance from this guy for Shaheens against Sri Lanka A in first 4-day game.

took 4 wickets in 1st inning and now h took another 4 in the 2nd.

Now he got his fifer in the 2nd inning. great bowling from him.

Not sure why he gets injured after playing test cricket internationally.

5-wicket haul for Khurram Shahzad, Khurram Shahzad literally dismantles the whole lineup of Sri Lanka A in just one hour of play on Day 1 of the 2nd four-day match against Sri Lanka A.

This guy is red hot. I think he is going to have a breakthrough tour in South Africa. Mir Hamza, and Shehzad should be first choice starters. Need to bin Shaheen and Naseem

He will play a very crucial role for our chances in South Africa. Also, I don't know why everyone is not mentioning how he debuted against Australia in Australia, and bowled very tidly, averaged under 26 and got Steve Smith out early in the 1st innings, got key wicket of Marsh who was smacking the bowling for fun, and then gets early wickets of Warner and Marnus, and then gets Smith out again (yea they were trying to go for quick runs but still). Even putting his great spell against Bangladesh aside, he bowled like a well experienced bowler in his debut game in literally the most difficult tour for Pakistan all throughout our history where many 'greats' have struggled, amazing stuff from him.

I hope he keeps his fitness because he has been getting injured after just 1 game. Cannot be taking such a player with the team who is gonna crumble every other game.

Probably the best red-ball bowler atm in Pakistan.

Please wrap him in a bubble wrap before the South African Test series.

He'll be an important bowler for Pakistan in that series if he's fit.

Ghani Glass' Khurram Shahzad (3/67) delivered an impressive bowling performance on Day 1 of the seventh round of the President's Trophy 2025 against SNGPL.

Ghani Glass’ Khurram Shahzad (5/70) registered another five-wicket haul against SNGPL on Day 2 of the seventh round of the President's Trophy 2025.

Ghani Glass’ Khurram Shahzad (4/37) delivered with the ball on Day 2 of the ninth round of the President's Trophy 2025 against WAPDA.

Khurram Shahzad stars with a ten-wicket haul in Ghani Glass's 279-run victory over WAPDA in the ninth round of the President's Trophy 2025

The pacer (4/37 & 6/40) bagged his second first-class ten-wicket haul.

A great spell by him keeps Quetta Gladiators in the hunt against Karachi Kings in PSL X. Ended with decent figures of 2/31 in 4 overs.

Good game for Khurram Shehzad, infact Mir Hamze from KK also bowled well showing a bit of help from wicket and trundlers are in business

@cricfan432. Khurram Shahzad on fire for Quetta Gladiators as he notches 4 scalpes for his side against Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans today in PSL X. 4/10 in 2 overs so far

Should get his chance in odis atleast if not t20is. Look at his performance against multan sultan despite of helpful pitch where Amir failed to pick any wicket, khurram picked 4 wickets inside powerplay.

His line and length is good due to domestic grind which apparently shaheen and naseem did not.

His second spell turned the tide against Karachi.

They haven’t looked back since!

Khurram Shahzad at the post-match presentation:

"I was fully prepared, and I'm glad the results showed today. In T20s, you usually get flat pitches, but there was something in it for the bowlers this time. My focus was on hitting the right lengths and attacking the stumps."

"As fast bowlers, we communicated really well. I always aim to take wickets in the powerplay with the new ball. When you bowl in partnerships, you often see the results — and that's exactly what happened for us today."

Good bowling but the wickets have been really helping the ''fast'' bowlers, not sure that is the standard wicket for T20Is
