[VIDEOS] Azam Khan - international performance watch

It’s a shame because going by these fitness standards. Even the great Inzamam ul Haq would not be selected for the team
Azam is also not a great keeper, he really struggles to keep against spin.

Both look and are extremely unfit. Neither deserved a spot in the squad. It doesn’t matter how many runs Inzi scored, he was an awful role model.

Wow where have we come.

Inzamam is a legend. Call his name respectfully bro.

I once went to watch an ODI game when Inzamam was the captain. I kid you not when I say during the warm-ups before the match he didn't participate in any of the drills and the only thing he did was lie down on the floor as the physio was giving him massages and stretching him.

Inzamam was a terrible example of a role model. He was overweight, lazy and very unfit.

No one cares if one is overweight, lazy and very unfit if they are scoring runs and winning games - like Inzi did.

Fitness is the least of our worries.

Our main priority is finding a middle order batsmen that can play spin and hit sixes.

Forgetting the fact Inzi played in a different era where a diving catch was a celebrated miracle, in his prime, heck even closer to retirement Inzi was half the size of Azam! Azam is relatively much bigger than Inzi.

So coming to TODAY, can someone answer the query, where will one hide Azam when Pakistan fields?!

He's passable as a keeper and is nowhere near good enough to replace Rizwan or Sarfaraz. In today's limited overs cricket (Azam will not survive a 5 day test), where exactly can you hide (not really hard to miss is he?) him. Any top calibre opposition batsmen will target wherever he stands. He's not taking a flying catch in the inner ring. He's not diving to save a boundary, let alone do a two step catch like most top teams do in cricket nowadays.

Can the team really accommodate 20 overs of Azam Khan the fielder?

Hafeez backs Azam Khan. Azam has failed again so far in the ongoing PSL season 9.

Hafeez reveals reason for Azam Khan's axing after three matches in NZ

Former Pakistan cricketer, Mohammad Hafeez has shed light on the decision to drop Azam Khan from the playing squad after just three matches during the T20I tour of New Zealand.

While talking on a local sports show, Hafeez disclosed that the team management had made it clear to Azam that he was not being dropped permanently.

"We've given clarity to him (Azam Khan) that he is not going anywhere," Hafeez said.

Speaking on a personal note, Hafeez expressed his desire to provide Azam with more opportunities. However, after evaluating his performance in the initial three matches, the management concluded that he was not meeting the required standards.

"Personally, I wanted to give him more matches, but after 3 matches, we thought that he's not performing well enough so that his confidence doesn't shatter to the extent that he can't make a comeback, because you know nowadays social media comes after you immediately after one or two performances." he further added.

The strategic plan for Azam Khan involved giving him a consistent run in the team until the upcoming World Cup.

"The plan was that we'll play him, give him a full run, till the World Cup he's not going anywhere," Hafeez said.

Despite being dropped from the New Zealand tour, Hafeez reassured that Azam would have ample opportunities to regain form and confidence.

"So the 3-4 matches he got here (New Zealand), New Zealand's team is coming here in April and then we're going to England so he will get those 10 to 15 matches before the World Cup," Hafeez further said.

Lastly, Hafeez emphasized the importance of sticking to the planned strategy for Azam Khan's development.

"And if you don't provide him those opportunities then you're going against the plan you've set," he concluded.
