[VIDEOS] Concerns about Shadab Khan's bowling

I have feeling his economy will be better than Yasir's 5-6 rpo. I could be wrong but we wait and see.

Huge opportunity for Shadab to cement a place in the Test side if he picks wickets today

pope probably hasnt played good spin in his domestic set up. While it will take time for Yasir to get his line right, atleasst 5 overs atleast. If Shadab gets the ball before, i am confident he can get him on the googly

Azhar probably doesn't even remember that Shadab can bowl.

azhar has been attaccking, so hasnt felt the need for bringing in shadab.

Oh right we all forgot that Shadab is a defensive bowling option and just for containing runs. Only Azhar and you knew.

Yes because I support personalities and not the team. :))

We all remember how you shifted your loyalties from IU to PZ and announced to take haitus from watching cricket after a certain player retired.

You obviously had no answer so had to resort to question my loyalty to the team.

thats domestic team.

Shadab claims the wicket of Archer with a big bouncing leg spinner, breaking an important partnership that was hurting us.

Shadab takes the final wicket of the innings, finishing on figures of 2/13 from 3.3 overs.

So Shadab the hero for Pakistan in the 2nd innings?

Horrible start for Shadab in the first T20 vs England.

0-26 after 2 overs and he is getting dispatched by Banton.

The guy can't even go an over or two without bowling a long hop and Junaids will tell you he should be test match captain.

Got a rollicking in between overs from a couple of his team-mates.

Bowling has been all over the place.

He needed that wicket badly!

We don't have a better package than Shadab Khan in domestic cricket. We need to stick with him in all formats.

His last two overs had figures of:

People are very quick to knock Shadab Khan because he has the same combative attitude as the young Virat Kohli. I know he gets up your nose - just like Kohli got up mine.

He’s the best Pakistan cricketer under the age of 22 that I have seen since Wasim Akram.

The best sportsmen have that arrogant edge to them, from Ronaldo to both Richards’.

Wasim debuted in 1985 - since then officially following few U22 players have played for PAK - Waquar, Saeed, Inzi, Mushi, Saqlaine, YK, ARazzak, Danish, Afridi, Mo Amir, Asif, Mo Zahid, Babar & Shaheen ..... and the best sportsmen with a little arrogant edge are CRonaldo, Viv Richards & Shadab Khan.

This post I’ll definitely mark for bumping - FGS.

The next stage would be for him to claim that Shadab is the reincarnation of the great R. Benaud, just like Naseem is the reincarnation of the F. Trueman.

His comeback was superb after all the spanking in the first two overs. Completely changed his line as well as speed of delivery to use the grip in the surface. Got his man.

Judgment reserved on how far he can go but if he keeps using his brains like he did in his spell and like he has done to regenerate his batting, there is a runway yet.

I’d have him in every format all the time, best Pakistan fielder by a mile regardless of how he bowls

His bowling is barely first class standard atm.
Poor control and lack of spin.
He regularly gets smashed in the psl as well now.
Really worrying signs.

You know Pakistan cricket is in the dumps when some of the fans would rather have fielding all rounders in the team over proper cricketers

Shadab not only bowled well in last two games but also batted well in last game. Remember these are high scoring games and he is bowling at some of worlds most destructive batsmen, whereas English spinners bowling at duds like Shoaib Maqsood, Azam Khan, Fakhar.

You know Pakistan cricket is in the dumps when some of the fans would rather have fielding all rounders in the team over proper cricketers
He has been taking wickets, scoring runs at lower end, and not going above 10 runs in high scori g games, so whatt else you want from him.

His googly used to be very well diguised and deadly when he first started out, now it is very mediocre at best. His development has stagnated because he has been given too much on the platter, he has not been made to play 4 day games, toiling away and having to bowl 30 overs in an innings is what ultimately helps to share up a spin bowlers line, length, flight, how to set the batsman up.

He seemed to become obsessed with becoming an all-rounder and in the process forget how to bowl. He needs to work a lot on his bowling because he'll never be good enough to just stay in the team based on only his batting or even worse when some people talk up his fielding as something special. No team needs a specialist fielder or barely competent all-rounder.

Qadir is miles better leggie, Shadab though is better all-round package and best fielder

Shadab bowled a lot better this series.

I have never seen Usman Qadir bowl so poorly. He was bowling like a part time spinner in the 3rd T20 vs England.

Wasn't in rhythm...takes an over or 2 for leggies sometimes and doesn't help when Roy and buttler are playing the reverse sweep

Agree.Shadab bowler a lot better.Usman did bowl poorly but this could be due to nerves and I experience. The pitches in WI are good for spinners, he should be given chances.I read somewhere that leg spinners peak at the avg age of 30.5 years and fast bowlers peak at 29 years.Afghan spinners an an exception they peak at 16 years.

Debate ends Shadab is not only better package but more reliable leggie. He was bowling well today and could have bowled his 4th over as well and may not have conceded the two 6s Hasan did.

Shadab Khan needs to reassess his bowling quickly

He is bowling slowly and trying to flight the ball and trying to extract spin and limiting his googly , clearly it's not working for him and it's time to go back to his strength.

He started as a fast leg spinner with lack of control and accuracy and who bowls lots of googlies and still he hasn't gain any control or accuracy so it's time to bowl fast again and he was never the big turner of the bowl so clearly bowling slowly and flighting the ball isn't helping him and also he can't stop himself from bowling boundary ball every over , so by bowling quickly and mixing up with googlies will make him unpredictable and he can also get away with his poor bowl per over if he is bowling quickly and mixing it up , clearly it was working for him when he started his career but when since he tried to transform in to a traditional leg spinner he is no longer effective and it's time to revert back to what was working for him
Your views?

Moreover he is not accurate enough to flight the ball and land it on good areas on consistent basis nor he extract massive turn to compensate his lack of control , he is just helping the batsmen by giving freebies , he must realize that he don't have tobe a traditional leggie in order to find success in t20s and must reassess his bowling strategy today

He must open his eyes that bowling slowly hasn't work for him in last two PSL, national t20s or at international stage so clearly he must do what was working for him earlier

Why was he made VC of the team?

His bowling and batting are mediocre at best. You can't make someone that senior because of fielding.

Need a big performance from him today - long overdue.

Been below par in all facets.

I have written it before, Indians play leg spinners very well.

I am worried about his bowling today.

I will be very happy if he proves me wrong though.

If he fails here, I would seriously consider Usman Qadir, especially against NZ who struggle with spin.

Mohammad Nawaz is another option to explore, but if Shadab wants to do well, he'll have to do something different tonight.

Time for Shadab to prove his doubters wrong. If he can't get wickets, he should at least be economical.

Credit where it's due.

Excellent spell today against India including the vital wicket of Pant.

4-22-1

Hardly any loose balls.

I can't remember the last time he got the wicket by getting bowled , caught behind or LBW , he just need to bowl fast and wicket to wicket with both ways movement at 95k (slow version of more like M.Asif) , he stopped trying to become a traditional leggie which he clearly can't

And people wanted him dropped or replaced top spell showed very good control and outfoxed pant

In recent times Shadab has become a dreadful bowler but thankfully today he gave a great performance with the ball and he looked sharp in the field

He did give 1-2 hit me balls each over (long hops, leg side), though jadeja/pant missed them mostly. India was being extra cautious due to wickets lost earlier.

Won't be lucky with all teams

I didn't see much hit me balls baring a couple.i thought India play spin well :)

He's been a lot more consistent with the ball during the last few weeks:

He has bowled well in this tournament. I hope he continues in semi vs Aussies

Credit goes to Shadab but also Saqlain. He’s definitely played a big role in the improvements Shadab is showing as a bowler

Bowled with real control. No rubbish at all so far and if he bowl like he has so far, he will be a real threat in the SF.

Seems to have turned a new leaf in this tournament.

Always had faith in Shadab bowling, batting and excellent fielding. Fans forget he has been offset by injuries a lot, and it takes time to get back in form, especially when these guys do not play first class much due to their busy tour schedules

has improved since saqi has been around, bowling at a better pace and getting more spin.

He has started to deliver, i hope he has found himself now. IU can only win if he delivers

Shadab is starting to bowl like he used to do he's in much better rhythm and injury free.

Confidence seems to be back. Bit more whip in the action.

Shadab Khan's bowling in his last 11 T20Is:

4-22-0
4-17-3
4-22-2
4-20-1
4-26-4
4-14-2
4-35-1
4-22-1
3-19-0
4-22-1
4-22-0

Overs 43
Runs conceded 241
Wickets 15
Economy-rate 5.60

I was a critic of him last year as he wasn't doing what his primary job, taking wickets and being economical. He has changed that & turned it around so fair play to him.

Saqlain must have helped him so Saqi needs to be kept on even if he doesn't land the head coach role.
