[VIDEOS] David Warner calls time on his international career - how will he be remembered?

Pat Cummins' Cheeky Response on David Warner's Retirement U-Turn Ahead of India Series

David Warner coming out and revealing that he would be willing to come out of Test retirement to open for Australia for the upcoming Test series vs India has rocked the cricketing world. While the cricketing world remains shaken, the Aussie skipper, Pat Cummins had a hilarious response to whether he would want to see his former teammate back in the side.

Cummins who was well aware of Warner’s stance had a funny response as the skipper revealed his take in the popular ‘The Grade

“Dave, we are very interested. We are taking it very seriously, and we’ll be in touch, mate,” said Cummins.

But the skipper opened up on the conversation he had with Warner where Cummins sarcastically revealed his actual take on Warner’s return.

“I did speak to Dave a couple of days ago, and he was like, ‘What do you think’, and I am like, yeah! Good luck with the Thunder this year. And I will look forward to your comments on Fox,” he shared.

Cricket Australia’s (CA) Conduct Commission has modified David Warner’s lifetime leadership ban effective immediately.

In a unanimous decision, the independent three-member Review Panel determined that Warner had met the necessary criteria to have the ban lifted.

In its decision the panel noted “the respectful and contrite tone of his (Warner’s) responses, as well as the content impressed the Review Panel and led it to the unanimous view that he was sincere and genuine in acknowledging responsibility for the conduct and in his statement that he had extreme remorse for his conduct”.

The panel also considered references citing “the contribution that Mr Warner has made, and can make in the future, towards the development of young cricketers in Australia if they were given the opportunity to be led by Mr Warner, his important continuing role in fostering interest in cricket especially with the South Asian community in Australia and generally.”

The hearing took place after Warner lodged an application to have the ban imposed in 2018 modified pursuant to Article 10 of the Code of Conduct.

Warner will now be eligible to hold leadership roles in all Australian Cricket competitions.

Nick Hockley, CA Chief Executive said:

“In 2022 we updated the Code of Conduct to ensure there was a fair and rigorous process in place for all players and player support personnel to have long-term sanctions reviewed.

“I am pleased David has chosen to have his sanction reviewed and that he will be eligible to take up leadership positions in Australian Cricket this summer.”

Funny thing is he can easily put on the pads and come back.

These current openers aren't even close to his quality and Head deserves a proper partner.

Bit sad he got unsold.

So what next for Warner, very poor as a commentator may be PSL the next destination

That’s why he will not be remembered as the greatest IPL batsman.

Cheteshwar Pujara, during a conversation with a local Indian sports media outlet:

"When I wasn't in the Playing XI in 2014-15 (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) and was carrying drinks, he [David Warner] came into the field and said that you look good carrying the drinks. After that, our conversation started and I reminded him every time and did something like this (Pujara does an offspinner's action through his fingers because Warner had been dismissed by Ashwin numerous times."

"I even told the bowlers that you just show this offspinner's action and he will get out. I wanted to play the psychological game on him. Then, I also spoke to him at short leg but I won't elaborate on that discussion here."

"After that incident, whenever David Warner visited India, I was always reminding him that you get out to Ashwin a lot of times and it affected him psychologically. There were a few occasions when we were travelling together and I used to encounter David Warner. I used to have so many conversations with David Warner that he went the other side after seeing my face and didn't appear in front of me even when we were travelling together."

David Warner is on fire.

Can he bring this fire to the PSL 2025 as well?

Australia legend David Warner joins Seattle Orcas for Major League Cricket 2025

Former Australia opener David Warner joined the Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise Seattle Orcas for the upcoming third edition, which will kickstart from June 12. This would be Warner's maiden appearance in the USA-based T20 league, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Warner is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League 2025, where he is leading the Karachi Kings in the tournament. So far in his cricketing career, the left-hand batter has played a total of 401 T20S where he has managed to score 12,956 runs at a strike rate of 140.27.

Seattle Orcas had a strong start in the inaugural Major League Cricket season in 2023, finishing at the top of the points table, but fell short in the final against MI New York. Their performance, however, saw a sharp decline in the second season, as they ended at the bottom under Heinrich Klaasen's captaincy, managing just one win in seven matches.

The 2025 edition of Major League Cricket will run from June 12 to July 13. Unlike last year, the tournament will not overlap with The Hundred, allowing David Warner to feature for London Spirit without any scheduling conflict.

David Warner went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and will miss the tournament for the first time since 2009. The southpaw is currently the fourth-highest run-getter in the IPL, with 6565 runs from 184 innings.

Warner made a strong impact in this year's Big Bash League, returning as captain of the Sydney Thunder and guiding the team to the final. He was the tournament's second-highest run-scorer, amassing 405 runs across 12 innings.

Earlier this year, in February, Warner was part of the Dubai Capitals squad that clinched the International League T20 (ILT20) title.

David Warner Joins 13,000 T20 Runs Club, Alongside Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle

The legendary Aussie batter, David Warner, has now etched his name into T20 history, becoming just the sixth player to cross the 13,000-run mark in the format. The elite list includes Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik and Alex Hales.

Warner reached the milestone during Karachi Kings’ matchup against Peshawar Zalmi. After a slow start to his PSL stint, the Kings’ captain was at his brilliant best, scoring 60 off 47 deliveries in a low-scoring contest to guide his team to victory. He struck eight fours before being dismissed by Luke Wood.

What makes Warner’s achievement particularly impressive is the pace at which he got there—403 innings—making him the third-fastest to the milestone. Only Gayle (381 innings) and Kohli (386 innings) reached the mark quicker. Warner is also one of just three Australian batters with more than 10,000 T20 runs, alongside Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.

One of T20 cricket’s most consistent performers, Warner has played for 14 teams across global leagues. His most prolific spell came with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he scored 4,014 runs at an average of 49.56 and a strike rate of 142.6. He also led SRH to their only IPL title in 2016.

Despite his track record, Warner went unsold in this year’s IPL mega auction and is now turning heads in the PSL. He captains the Karachi Kings, who currently sit second on the league table with six points. After scoring just 46 runs in his first four matches, Warner found form with a crucial 60-run knock against Peshawar.
