[VIDEOS] Fakhar Zaman - Pakistan's most frustrating batter?

This whole momentum thing is commentators **, i don't think professional players morale can get affected by 7-8 extra runs because of mis fielding. I can concede that one may loose or win the match by 8 extra runs but the momentum of a yet to start inning can't get derailed or built up because someone misfielded or took a catch on the last delivery.
 
Zaman is the most "premeditative" player I've seen. This guy almost always guesses and guesses wrong but refuses to change his approach. Abdullah shafique time
 
Time to get rid this hack. Ifti, Dhani, Rauf and Nawaz are better than this guy. But its Pakistan where performance doesn't matter. Connection is all you need.
 
Needs to get a full neurological workup done. There is something wrong with his judgement. Could be vision-related or cerebellar. He used to be a pretty decent fielder.
 
Not surprised to see all the knee-jerk critics coming out of the woodwork. Fakhar had a very bad day. But that doesn't change the fact that he is a top-quality, world-class player.

Its a shame certain fans' memories only go back a week. Only makes their opinions all the more meaningless...

Fakhar averages 22 at a strike rate of 130 in T20s. And there are people who want him to open lol. He is very good ODI player but T20 isn't his format and must be dropped.

If he isn’t opening he shouldn’t play T20s
 
fakhar is simply too one dimensional to succeed against top spinners, he doesn't have the game to deal with slower pitches.

his performance in the field is making him an even greater liability. he would be long gone if he was a right hander.
 
He struggles to rotate the strike against the spinners. Needs to work on this.
 
The catch or the non catch, really worries me. It wasn't his catch,he didn't need to attempt it and if he did,he had to take it. Every decade we have problems with bookies. I hope I am so wrong that i have egg on my face

We are a very sad and shallow nation .
 
Seems like the chants from the opposition fans on the boundary got to his head and he blew up big tonight.

Don't know why he doesn't back himself to clear the ropes against the spinners. Should be fearless in his approach against spinners.

KP once said about some batter who was going through a lean patch, A guy of his built should be cover driving the pacers for fours throughout the day instead he is afraid to bring his bat down.

Someone needs to talk to Fakhar like that as well.

He is more like an insurance policy if the Babar or Riswan fail, the other option is don’t have him come until very late but then you ask why play him

He is very strong mentally and a fighting cricketer despite his technical flaws is still able to succeed and is a match winner, he will get slaughtered each time he fails not fair when you look at the good times over the years
 
Fakhar has to be dropped. He has been living off that 100 in the CL final for ages. He offers nothing to the team at all.

Something is up with Fakhar, he does not seem connected with the team.

Perhaps a break is needed for him.

Definitely does not seem the case that he is not connected with the team, but today obviously he is hurting inside and therefore that is reflected in the video. Besides he is generally and understated guy .
 
I could be wrong.
But I think fakhar is more comfortable opening the batting.
He has always been at his best opening

But im also not sure if putting babar at no 3 is a good idea

Exactly he either opens and is given a licence to go hell for leather in the powerplay or he doesn't play at all.
 
He is fine, just had a bad game. Pakistan fans have memories of a goldfish, one bad performance and they throw their toys out of the pram.

Fakhar is an out and out match-winner who can win matches on his own when he gets going, and you don’t have many of them in Pakistan at the moment.
 
I have a feeling there is more to the recent performances of Fakhar. It seems he isn't very motivated or interested at all. As if someone forced him to be there.

He is too slow even for T20. He miss catches in regular intervals, sloppy fielding and tuk tuk and slog. He is not a T20 material. He rarely performs. I would rather add extra bowler who at least reduce the opposition score and may slog for 10-15 runs.

You obviously didn't watch the Innings against Australia when he slaughtered starc.
 
fakhar s/r in t20s used to be around 145, last 15 innings or so its been 115.

his timing is completely gone and unless he's going for a lepera six his batting is very touch and go.

doubt management with tinker with him in this tournament.
 
Cannot think of a player whose received the golden boy treatment more than warranted. He needs to be dropped for his own good.

Fakhar is inconsistent in t20s compared to one days where he averages 45.

However he still has 3 50s in his last 10 innings, the issue is some low scores sandwiched in between.

Can he do better ? Yes
Will he do better ? I believe the surfaces in Australia are right up his street .
Is he a big match player ? Yes . He has played 4 semi finals and finals for Pak and has always passed 50 with two MOM performances .

He is usually a gun fielder as well.

Therefore when you add all those elements together it is understandable why he is backed .

There is no favouritism going on here but there is no doubt Fakhar needs to increase his output .

The problem with a thread like this is it can backfire big time. If Fakhar has two outstanding outings in the next two matches people here will be all over you, so you need to be prepared for that.

Having said that we need to give Shan Masood and Haider more chances and bring in proper hitters in the team (if we have them).

Fakthar is not a pure hitter, he can't just stand and deliver. Against spinners he has to run down the track to get to the pitch of the ball, when he connects properly it is a six, but often he mistimes. And against quicker bolwers he just swings his bat like most of our other so called big hitters. If he connects it's ok, if not it will frustrate the viewers.

But yeh chalta rahey ga humari crikcet mein

i dont mind being proven wrong ... but its the "dis-intrest" of the man that is ******$ng me off

he looks like his mind is somewhere else... abs no energy

could have single handidly lost us the india game ... could have punched Khushdil to drop catch, 8 runs of mis-fields and then garbage batting.. and Afg game, he knew how important his wicket was given he is leftie and Babar got out 1st ball

but the shameless junk showed no intensity
 
What is concerning is most of Fakhar dismissals have been soft dismissals. He has not got out due to him being aggressive. Is he being conservative but unable to do so?
 
This guy keep putting our team in danger and bowlers have to step in to save us the match. Need to be kicked ASAP. Since we are already in final, Babar should try Haider which is more unlikely.

Why Babar don't understand most cases these players will not find form in a tournament matches. They may need 20-30 matches and by the mean time same player cost you trophy.
 
He is an impactful player however, it looks like he is mentally not in a right place (Maybe something personal going on). In a competitive sport/or any competitive environment sometimes you hesitate take a break as you dont want to leave your place however, that should not be something that should take priority. Health and family comes first.

I am his fan but, he has been poor in this tournament and T20Is for sometime and I hope he sorts his issues out.

Fakhar has demonstrated he can up the ante at any time . His semi final knock last year was even the more remarkable as he had struggled in the matches before , so I think Babar and the management recognise this.

Where were you fans when Fakhar was moved out of his natural position (opener)? The man quietly left that position without crying to the media or to the team management because he thought this is what the team wants and he is a team man. Why didn’t any of you speak up for him then? Why didn’t any of you speak up and say that he doesn’t have the hunger to fight for his team by playing in the best position that suits him?

All of you asking for him to be axed need a serious reality check. Misbah destroyed this team and it’s progressive mindset because of his own dirty politics and favouritism. Fakhar owes us nothing. We are blessed to have a player of this quality in our set up, it is up to the management to understand cricket and let him do what is best for him.

Teams are built around players like him, not others!
 
Fakhar has to sit out the next 2 games.

For whatever reason, he doesn't seem to be in the correct frame of mind. I have had times like these at work when I'd rather be not there.

He is important to Pakistan but not in this state.

Your post represents what is wrong with our assessment of Fakhar. What is this concept of memorable knocks? Both his memorable knocks were in ODI cricket. I think he has played one memorable knock in T20is which was an 80 odd against AUS in 2018.

You do realize that he averages 22 at a strike rate of 120 in T20is please tell me which top team has a # 3 with these numbers. All one can say to justify his spot is that he has played memorable knocks.
 
He has been an impact player for Pakistan especially in ODI cricket there are no two ways about it. However, in T20Is has been struggling for sometime but more worrying thing is that he sometimes doesn't seem to be in the great state of mind. Mental fatigue is a thing as well as personal issues in life, in competitive fields and sports sometimes it becomes difficult for people to think about their own well being with the fear of losing there space however, I believe health and family comes first.

I am his fan and everyone around the world knows how dangerous of a player he is. Currently just doesn't seem to be in best of mental space whatever is the reason (I hope I am wrong). I wish he sorts his issues out and take a break if thats needed. Fakhar is his optimal mental space is the kind of player who can pile up runs in domestic cricket and PSL as he showed in the last season or so and thus can always come back to the side with his quality after a break as well.
 
Avg. Is meaningless in T20. The SR of all our top 3 is miserable compared to other teams. That is because Our team strategy has always been to keep SR low at beginning. His SR is not lower due to his lack of skill.

All one should say to justify his spot is he has the reputation to cause worry to the opposition because of his typical approach. Which his replacements sharjeel, shaan etc. Will never cause.

Regardless if you disagree but he still doesn't deserve "pathetic" tag.
 
Totally agree with people who think this guy is a liability. Those dolly drops and last night run out just shows the guy doesn't take the game seriously. Club level match awareness from someone playing international cricket for 5 years. Not to forget he is an ugly hack. Time to show faith in Kamran Ghulam and Haider Ali.
 
Shoaib Akhtar gave some thoughts on Fakhar yesterday: “Please wake up, why are you so lost!”

He was rubbish at opening and even more so at 3. The best solution is bench for him.
 
I like Fakhar but he's had a horror tournament with the bat and in the field.

He usually steps up in big games so hopefully turns things around in the last two matches vs SL.
 
Hes been pretty poor in t20s for a long time Not just now

He needs to either pitch in or ship out His performance in t20s arent good enough

Has not been playing well. I would make him play as the opener to take advantage of the power play overs and have Babar come in at #3.

Currently playing in the National T20 CUP. On fitness alone Harris should never play for Pakistan.
 
One more innings to save his T20I career.

I agree, its completely fair to drop him after this tournament. However for the Final I would play him as opener. Babar & Rizwan should not open together.
