[VIDEOS] Haider Ali's debut county season for Derbyshire in 2023

First ball duck LB in the blast as expected how did this guy get to play county ahead of Abdullah Shafique i dont know

That looked like a poor decision but still completely missed an in-swinging delivery

Not good enough Haider. Should be bossing Div 2 of County Championship.

With Saud Shakeel struggling too, it seems our guys are all at sea if the ball does a bit. It also shows how terrible the standard of domestic bowling is because both Haider and Saud have plundered runs for fun in QEA Trophy.

Playing around his pad all the time.

Head all over the place, not playing straight.

Tecnically awful at the moment.

His technique has been awful for the past year atleast if not more.

The strategy should be to focus on learning where his off stump is and move in the direction of the ball rather than just throwing the bat at the ball wherever it may be.

Once he starts doing the above his head would start to go in the same direction too rather than falling all over the place as it has been ongoing.

How could this lad play matches for Pakistan?

His technique is 3rd class. How he can play first class cricket?

Haider Ali played in a 2nd XI T20 game today - nothing great again.

Wayne Madsen: 83 (37)
Leus du Plooy: 58 (37)
Haider Ali: 30 (13)

What a batting display from #DCCC, as set Leicestershire 232 to win in today's Second XI T20

30 of 13 balls is not too bad in a T20.

Anyway, we need to tone down our expectations. I think Mickey has done Pakistan and Haider a huge favour at Derby’s expense.

There is no quick fix, he is there to learn and develop. It’s not ideal for Derby but great for Pakistan.

I mean it's good he's getting some practice in, but his form and performances have been poor.

Maybe some runs in the 2nd XI might boost his confidence.

Haider Ali will come up against Shaheen Shah Afridi this evening.

Couldn't get any more trickier for Haider

And the nightmare continues in all formats

Out for 1(4) vs Notts

Well Haider, Zaman etc better perform or Derbyshire might turn around and say we'll pick the overseas players, not you.

All hopes now on Zaman because the way Haider is going, Derbyshire cannot be happy with the situation

Batting like a local club cricketer playing on the village green.

This is not the Haider Ali I thought he would become.

His torture continues.

Out for 11 off 9 balls today.

This guy has to be the luckiest person in the whole world

Will Derbyshire persist with Haider Ali?! or will he not make it in the final XI for the next game?

Derbyshire Squad:

12. Haider Ali

24. Tom Wood
77. Wayne Madsen
76. Leus du Plooy (c)
29. Brooke Guest (wk)

Derbyshire Falcons have named a 14-player squad for their Vitality Blast clashes with Leicestershire Foxes (Thursday, 6.30pm) and Birmingham Bears (Friday, 7pm).

With half-centuries in each of his three Vitality Blast innings so far, Wayne Madsen is the competition’s leading run-scorer, and he will be hoping to solidify his place at the top of the charts and guide Derbyshire Falcons to a first win of the campaign at The Uptonsteel County Ground.

This guy neither has talent nor has any eager to learn. Shouldn't be allowed to play domestic because its just a waste of spot.

The danger now is that if he continues to fail, Mickey will be under pressure to drop him.

Desperately needs runs and then the confidence will come.

The bottom line though is that his technique is woeful and that means that more often than not that will lead to failure. He really needs to tighten up his technique and shot selection.

His batting skill is way too poor and should concentrate to learn spin and may have chance spin-cum late slogger for club teams.

Out for 10 off 9 balls.

Double figures at least - a small consolation.

Dear me.

If a village cricketer played such a shot, even he would get stick from his captain and team-mates.

He should consider moving to the USA.

He’s struggling in a competition full of mediocre bowlers where batsmen are getting 40 ball centuries.

Recent scores for Derbyshire:

10
11
1
0
6
2

22 runs in 4 innings in the T20 Blast:

Average of 5.50
Strike rate 95.65

wonder what made them sign him. ?

Must have been Mickey Arthur's choice.

Which is great for Pakistan cricket in that a young Pakistani batter is getting an opportunity to play County cricket, but I can't imagine the Derbyshire fans are thrilled with his batting this season.

On the train back to London after a trip to Leicester to see Haider and Zaman. After he hit a six I hoped Haider might finally hit some form, but bowled by Parkinson soon after!! He was still chirpy and energetic in the field but this must be weighing on him now.

Lost cause no need to pay attention here… he is Umar Akmal 2.0

32 today that's the good news.

But it took him 31 balls.

For someone who is supposed to be a big hitter - his strike-rate his 100 so far in the T20 Blast.

Highlights of his yesterday innings

A friend of mine was at the game yesterday and he said that whilst he scored 30, it was a real struggle for Haider.

He was failing to time and place the ball and only managed to time the ball a couple of times.

I watched it on the stream and he was still mistiming regularly despite getting his highest score. Zaman was excellent though.

Have a feeling he was given carte blanche to take his time - to get some runs but was it the right thing for the team?

Something special from Haider today, perhaps? 37*(26) at the moment

And Haider out for 74(47) - brilliant effort and long time overdue

Crazy dismissal, where did he think the ball was? Bad lack of awareness IMO, and a shame as he was playing a great innings. Promising to see him at least starting to get some runs under his belt.

I can't imagine what Mickey would have said to him after seeing that dismissal.

Doing well again tonight.

3rd match in a row where he's done well.

Started well but then slowed down.

Ended up with 42 off 37.

That’s poor in a T20. However, it very much expected. With a string of poor scores, almost every batsman would play a few innings for himself.

Playing around his front pad is a big problem for Haider and a very bad habit.

He can get away with it in UAE and Pakistan, but in most parts of the world it won't work.

County Championship stats so far:

Innings 10
Runs 157
Average 17.44

79* so far Haider in the 2nd innings - could well get a hundred at this rate.

His first County Championship century.

Well done to the lad.

Maybe the middle-order is a better option for him in 4-day cricket.

Shows he's not a mug with the bat.

his biggest issue is hes an aggressive player with classical shots, when he tries to bat defensively or tries to slog it goes wrong. hope he kicks on and has a good remainder of the season, has natural six-hitting ability.

HA has a great opportunity to develop his game. TBH the guy seem thicker than a whale omelette but he may come out of this experience as a decent player. It looks like he is suited to 5 or 6 but because he has batted at the top most of his career, mentally he won't find it easy to adjust.
