That seems way too easy

Haider Ali out for 9 vs Worcs - another disappointment.

What on earth was that shot today.

Look at the footwork, the head position.

Dear me, surely this guy is better than this.

Tonight's innings was a quick one:

6 6 out.

I was hoping for a break through season for HA. We know he has talent but also know the guy makes Imran Nazir look like Isaac Newton. It would have been a chance for him to develop his batting where he takes less risk and plays more percentages. At the moment, he faces a few dot balls, he slogs like a drunk guy playing Parks league cricket

I don’t know why is there this feeling that he is better than this.

I think he has talent to succeed but talent alone isn't enough. You have to know your game and work on your weaknesses and understand match situations, which he seems to be oblivious to. He is probably around 27, so it's going to be in the next year or so, or never.

24 not out today off 22 balls as Derbyshire chased down 300 to win.

Openers did the hard work with an opening stand of 159 from 22.3 overs.

Difficult to rate players in this tournament . The bowling attacks are rubbish and the ropes are pulled in quite a bit.

Also , is this guy really 22?

I've lost count how many times Haider has been out this season in County cricket, playing across the line.

You'd think, that by now, he would realise that playing straight is the better option in England.

It's important for haider to note that playing across the line requires a good understanding of the situation, the bowler's line and length, and the field placements.. but this gentleman doesnt bother anything.

LBW again today and once again playing across the llne.

Last 3 dismissals all LBW.

Batsmen who consistently rely on cross-batted shots may find it challenging to play deliveries that are pitched up and aimed at the stumps. This can lead to a limited range of shots and make the batsman easier to predict for bowlers and that is why Haider is a piece of a pie for most of the bowlers.

I don't think thats quite right , Saj. You have to play square of the wicket as well especially in England.

The problem is in the execution. His head going ever so slightly to the off side and his front pad coming across. Not the best position to play the flick.

Play square to the right deliveries and when settled in at the crease.

The shot today was his first ball.

It's important to judge the line and most importantly length of the delivery early to decide how to play the shot.

Going the Umar Akmal route very fast.

The only way out of this rut for Haider would be to forget about international cricket for at least the next 2 years and focus on domestics

The only position where he could ever be effective is as an opener where he is told to close his eyes and swing hard.

Any kind of batting which requires actual thinking will be too much for the lad.

He hasn’t done anything in international cricket to even be considered 1/10th of Umar Akmal

How can you go down his route having done Jack all?

In high-pressure situations, batsmen might attempt cross-batted shots due to the urgency of the moment, leading to errors. But tHaider Ali can attempt on very first ball of the game.

Yeah but if he's not good enough to pick the line and length against this level of bowling, then probably's he's not as talented as many think? Regardless , he's not in the best position to play that flick and that is something he/his batting coach can work on.

A friend of mine watches Derbyshire quite often and he was saying how disappointed he has been with Haider and his lack of respect for opposition bowling attacks.

What he means by that is his lack of match awareness and lack of planning against bowlers - basically playing the same shots, every day and against every bowling attack.

Some days it will work, many other times it won't.

24 today in his last game of the season.

He is going on Umrah and then to Asian Games.

Haider Ali has been called up to the Pakistan squad for the Asian Games, bringing an end to his time with Derbyshire.

Ali, 22, has been ever-present for Derbyshire this season in all formats, scoring more than 1,000 runs and recording a high-score of 146 in the LV= County Championship fixture against Yorkshire at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

The 2023 Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, China, in September and October, with Twenty20 cricket making its third appearance, having previously been played at the 2010 and 2014 games.

Haider Ali has been named in the Pakistan squad for the Asian Games, and as a result, his time with the Club has come to an end.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said:”Haider has been brilliant in the dressing room, he’s matured as a person and the Haider Ali who leaves Derbyshire is better than the one who arrived.

“This is a chance for Haider to go and play on another big stage for his country and perform; it will be an important step in his development.”

He finishes the County season with the following numbers:

481 runs in the County Championship - average of 32.06
335 runs in the T20 Blast - average of 25.76, strike-rate of 137.86
240 runs in the One day cup - average of 34.28, strike-rate of 109.09

Mohammad Amir speaking about what overseas players can learn from County Cricket

"You know county cricket has a huge role for cricketers even for overseas players; So I was talking to Haider Ali who recently played for Derbyshire and did well and he said that he learned lots of things here"

Haider Ali says he "Learned a lot of things" but not to swipe across the line and get pinned in front of the stumps.

Biggest learning point should be the need to play straight as much as possible instead of hoicking across the line.

This guys finished. Looks like a proper tailender. Worse than Alan mullally with the bat.

Has regressed soo much.

My cousin from Derby told me when he was here playing county cricket he met him at a restaurant and he was asking where the best Shisha bar?

This tells you everything about his work ethic more into money eating ans smoking Shisha.

Absolutely has himself to blame not working hard enough and literally on the verge of embarrassment the way he’s batting
