What's new

[VIDEOS] Has Hassan Ali done enough in domestic cricket to earn a recall to the Pakistan side?

Has to be in the squad against South Africa. Only for the tests though. Can ease him back into the LOI setup. He'll inevitably play the PSL whether we like it or not. Can see how his fitness holds up from there

He's done it the right way.

Came back from injury, worked hard, took wickets and led from the front.

Deserves an international recall.

Agreed. Thing is irrespective of bench strength or available quality there is no excuse to run down your best bowlers to the ground by playing them every random T20.

Pak cricket needs a broader vision than running their best bowlers down to the ground or fast tracking youngsters and using lack of options as an excuse. Even if someone buys excuse of lack of options, it still doesnt give anyone the right to destroy career of players just because they want to prove their coaching and managerial credentials.

Problem with Misbah is that there seems to be a real randomness to his selections. Not much vision to speak of. Players come in and disappear the next series. One can only hope this changes with Waseem.

Misbah won’t be the selector the next series so let’s see if M Wasim selects him. I think it’s possible he is and deserves it too

Based on the numbers, he deserves it for sure. He has definitely set the perfect example for entitled brat Amir

Amir did the same. He had a fantastic domestic season and a great BPL along with it.

I am talking about right now. The selectors were right to drop him and he struggled badly in the domestic T-20 tournament and he didn't set the world on fire in the Lankan Premier League either

Agreed.

Hasan is the type that needs a challenge to stay motivated. He gets complacent quickly.

Hasan Ali has bowled 40 no-balls in the QEA Trophy so far. That's four per match. Major concern if he wants to make a comeback in the LOI sides.

Dont think that is a problem if he is topping the bowling charts and taking wickets.

Excellent performance - leading from the front.

I agree with Omar. This is a major concern. I can see him getting wickets via no-balls against SA. He's bowled wonderfully and looks fully fit.

There is just a nagging feeling his no-ball issue might hurt us if he is selected against SA.

It is a concern that he is bowling lots of no bowls even if he is taking wickets but i suspect he wont bowl that many when it comes to international

Indeed and that too by playing season of First-class cricket instead of playing T10 or Twenty20 league here and there and showed how it is supposed to be done. Other recently retired cricketer(s) could have taken a leaf out Hassan Ali's book.

That cricketer was like I have retired from test cricket, why should I be made to play domestic 4 day cricket then

I count 17 no balls (so far) for Hassan in the QeA20 Final!

Congratulations Hassan Ali for scoring 100 in 58 balls in the QeA Trophy 2020/21 final chasing 356

The match has just been tied with Central Punjab all out for exactly 356. They needed 357 to win. What a match!!!

And what a performance hy Hasan Ali who remains unbeaten.

Should Hasan Ali be back to national squad - 2021/2022

Hasan Ali had a decent outing on QeA 2020/2021 season and also a beautiful and strokeful century today in the final.

Do you think he deserves a place in National team after this performance?

He definitely should be recalled for SA series based on his form.

However the problem we have with bowlers is that the standard of domestic batting is so poor in Pakistan that you don't actually know if bowlers will actually be able to trouble top batsman like Williamson or is it just a case of dreadful batting standards resulting in bowlers taking buckets of wickets.

Man of the Match: Hasan Ali

I’m more excited about the century - Pakistan needs runs from Number 9 - the era of Three Number Elevens has to stop.

The problem is, even the century lasted only 61 balls. Hasan Ali needs to last that long in EVERY innings.

This was a great match. Evenly matched competition between bat and ball. Hasan Ali played one heck of an innings at the end. CP could have likely won had they not declared at 257-9. Still they lift the trophy which is good enough.

Hasan Ali's return to the side all but guaranteed.

If he can even smash a 50 from number 9 off 30 odd balls in a test match it would be good enough in my book

This was a brilliant match. Absolutel thriller. Might be match of the year in all cricket.

He is in form, but is he fit enough?

Don't think he will last five days in Test cricket yet. Start with T20's.

Someone on twitter said Hassan Ali looked to have back issues again after the game.

He just played like 6 FC games in a row with only 2 days rest in between most of them.

Considering our issues in bowling Hassan could be bowling a lot of overs in five day cricket under a lot of pressure to do well.

Would be good if he is fit to start in tests as we really need his batting as well. Enough of tailenders like Naseem, Shaheen and Abbas.

We hardly play many tests. After these 2 against SA in Jan/Feb, we have 2 against Zimbabwe in April, then 3 in WI in July/August, so I don't think workload will be much of an issue. It could become an issue if/when he makes his comeback in all 3 formats. IMO those who play all 3 formats (especially bowlers) should only play ODIs against top 8 teams and T20Is against top 6 teams.

We ran Hasan (and are doing the same with Shaheen) by playing him in T20Is and ODIs vs Zimbabwe, Scotland, WI.

That was one of the ATG innings by a Pakistani batsman in First Class history.

Yes he was caught off a no-ball, and there was a missed stumping - he's not a specialist batsman FGS !

The balls to launch a counter-attack like that given the scenario. Most of his boundaries were clean hits.

That is called leading from the front, done so with bat and ball all season. He brought Central Punjab back from the dead and incredible they share the trophy.

Take a bow Hasan Ali, and yes he's earned a recall.

Chief Destroyer was right about this kid. Whatever shortcomings he has, his mentality is unreal.

Did you watch the highlights or ball to ball?

He should rest for few days and hopefully he can play against SA

HE can and should be encouraged to skip Zimbabwe tests
