[VIDEOS] Hasan Nawaz: The emerging power-hitting sensation in International Cricket

Hassan Nawaz 122(54) against Ghani Value Glass, while playing for Khawar Properties at the Ghani Ramadan Tournament.

Back-to-back 100s for Hassan Nawaz while playing for Khawar Properties in the Ghani Ramadan Cricket Tournament.

Yesterday he scored 176 off just 70 balls and today he scored 100 off 42 balls.

Yes, this is not a high-level cricket but still, if you can hit centuries for fun, you must have some serious hunger for runs that can be useful for the next stage of the game as well.

He is good at bashing poor club level bowlers , any decent bowler always seems to get upperhand over him.

Hasan Nawaz is looking lethal and explosive, a pure T20 specialist batter. He can slog effectively and play shots all around the ground. He’s making waves with his gigantic sixes in the PCB Champions T20 Cup 2024, where he is representing the Lions.

An explosive batter who might do well to earn a call up only to be batted at 5 or benched.

Yeah no point of getting excited

He’s got no chance as long as Pakistan continue to choose the path of unbalance

Players like this should be backed and giving chance in A tours

This guy has legit talent. Long levers and a strong base. Can be a good t20 player if he keeps improving.

Seems like he's improved him defense along with using his brain. He can be a solid option in t20s. His game against short balls need to improve.

Was doing very well a few years ago but then he criticised the PCB for awful PSL advertising, said something along the lines of the PSL is nigh and there are no posters, billboards or anything around the city, most people didn't even know that it was happening, after which he was dropped from almost all local T20 tourneys. Hopefully he performs in these 3rd class tourney now and gets selected for the PSL.

That was Nasir Nawaz.

Yeh there used to be a Nawaz hard hitting opener, had him confused also.

Looks like a good prospect, but will he get chances?

Good batter. Should be sent with A tours and Shaheens tours. Can be a great prospect.

He will be played out of position.Should be picked for A tours alongside playing first class cricket.

There was a lot of hype around this guy... Here is his chance now

He had a decent T20 Champions Cup but the standard in that tournament is nowhere near what he'll face internationally or even PSL.

His overall T20 SR is 131 so if players like these are getting hyped then God help Pakistan cricket.

I was watching videos of him this guy look all class if pcb wants pakistan to be competitive in T20 again this guy jas to play every match should not be dropped after few failures.

Hasan Nawaz in the media talk:

"The city (Layyah) I belong to has never produced an international player not even a first-class player so I worked very hard to reach this position and my family and I are very proud of that."

"I used to admire Shoaib Malik a lot so I started playing cricket while watching him and learned a lot from him."

"It is the decision of the team management and captain to determine where they want me to play but they have backed me a lot and just asked me to play fearless cricket."

"New Zealand is a tough competitor and we have prepared accordingly. Given the way we have been performing in domestic cricket, I am confident that we will deliver positive results."

"In New Zealand you get some bouncy tracks and we are preparing ourselves accordingly. Our focus is on playing positive cricket to achieve positive results."

"During the practice sessions here, there were some seaming conditions so the management told us not to fear losing our wickets but to play our natural game from ball one. We are approaching the game with that mindset."

Hassan Nawaz will most probably feature in the playing XI tomorrow in the first T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch

0 (2) for Hasan Nawaz on debut, not a fairytale start for the 22-year old

0 (3) today, still yet to make an international run and got out slogging in the same way as in the first game.

I'm all down for being aggressive, but his body position was too out of place to play that shot

He doesn't have a cut or pull and is bound to fail in NZ. An inferior version of Haider Ali against pace but better against spin. Omair Yusuf should replace him in next game. Nawaz should get more opportunities in home series.

Hack

Is overall stats are garbage

Pakistan cap has truly lost its value. Any clown can play for Pakistan

Aqib Javaid is such a clown the guy has no clue how to coach or how to select players These clowns dropped Babar for clowns like these. Babar might not be Kohli, but he is still the best you got he is a ferrari compared to these mehraans

He hasnt impressed me and looked reckless BUT, what I will say that he is gutsy. it's easy to go into a shell to try and stat pad to guarantee yourself a spot in the next game. But he still decided to go all out. He looked ugly, but it was gutsy

Pakistan batter Sohaib Maqsood has slammed debutant Hasan Nawaz’s shot selection in the ongoing PAK vs NZ T20I series:

“I told him that he was an exceptional T20 batter. I advised him to stop playing club cricket all year for some money. Instead, he should train for international cricket,”

“It looked like Hasan Nawaz was playing club cricket against New Zealand. He was slogging like a tailender,”

We have gone the complete opposite way to RizBar, having these tullay represent us at international level.

Atleast select successful tullay then, rather than these players who have barely played domestic cricket.

The way Hassan got out twice wasn’t about having guts, it was about him being completely out of depth against an international level bowler.

Not international material as he lacks basics , play him at any high level cricket and he will get exposed very badly.
U r right , exposed badly... Swinging from the hips... he is connecting to the ball very poorly...His shots here will either fly high or fly to the third man... Head , hand-eye co-ordination , body positioning everything all over the place just like Usman khan..

Pakistan try to go with tullaybaaz one after the starting with Asif ali, Ifthikar , Danish Aziz, Usman khan and now Hasan nawaz and Abdul Samad all of them looks out of sorts in international cricket except Ifthikar who was backed like there is no one else in Pakistan to fill his role , finally a good riddance...

All of these hacks that were tried got away with playing in too many club tourneys and scoring heavily there... International cricket is completely different class where such hacks get exposed badly..

We should look to groom players for T20 who are already came up from the system and has got their basics covered , we should be looking for recently graduated U19 players like Maaz , Shamyl , Shahzeb ,Azan and Riazullah as they have got decent technique against swing and pace plus Shamyl can handle bounce and Shahzeb and Riazuallah can play spin very well Maaz and Azan are jack of all trades sort of players , groom them for all out attacking cricket and in couple of years time we will have them ready for International T20 cricket.

Even if two of them become international regulars then our target achieved.

So far, he has become a proper example of what a real tulla is...Mindless shots and it looks like he is plying club cricket. O BHai, this is international cricket.

You will never be able to excel here with such tullay baazi.

How can a player prove that they have good technique, composure, common sense and ability to adapt in different situations? The simple answer in domestic 3/4 day cricket. I wouldn’t even bother trying a youngster in international T20s until they have scored at least 2-3k runs in FC cricket.

Samad has a disgraceful FC average of 12.92 in 13 matches. To me that suggests that he is nothing but kachra.

Fakhar Zaman scored a lot runs in FC cricket before debut for Pakistan cricket, he had decent FC stats.

A player doesn't need to have incredible stats for FC for T20 selection but should play at decent level to be considered for this format.

Finn Allen avgs 20 in FC. Just saying.

Players such as Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, Usman Khan Shinwari & Mohammad Nawaz are the right age profiles to be playing for Pakistan as well as having the experience domestically.

However, they haven't clicked at Intl. level or just haven't been provided the opportunities to succeed.

HALF-CENTURY in 26 balls against NZ in the 3rd T20 finallay after getting 2 ducks back to back since debut. What a knock this has been so far

This is what Pakistan expected from him.

Go on, GO ON

What an innings by the young lad. Shows mental strength after getting two ducks and now a majestic century. He swings wildly at times, but this is T20, so no harm in doing that early on in his career. Some of his shots were breathtaking, with straigt bat as well.

He is mentally tough and even though his game against short pitch stuff is a work in progress but he definitely can improve

A lineup of
Saim
Hasan
Farhan
Babar
Usman
Arafat
Haris

Well played, he needs to keep improving his shot selection other grounds may not be this easy to scoop over for 6. His long handle and height are in his favour and positive attitude.

Ohh wow suddenly selection headaches arise.
TBF Good headaches to have.

Some of his shots reminded me of Shubman Gill, ps! not comparing the two lol.

That was a quick U-turn. You said he will be exposed badly at international level and lacks the basics 🤔

why no Agha and why Farhan at 3 instead of haris or Fakhar and why Usman khan lol..

The difference between Usman and Nawaz is both are gully cricketers but Nawaz has better mental strength and range of shots and it took him very soon to succeed... USMAN had games against minnow teams and still failed miserably and the same way of dismissals.. Anyways with Saim and Fakhar waiting in the line , Usman makes one place ready for them , the other one would be either Abdul Samad i guess , he is simply not cut for intl cricket , with poor physique and also poor runnning between wickets...

Usman should go back to UAE or rot himself in domestics... He cant even stand in his crease to play a cricket shots, he reminds me of those cricket games in the street played with coke or pepsi boxes as stumps...

What is babar doing in there?
I still believe Babar can play his part in the middle order as second fiddle for someone going aggressively at the other end just like how Agha did today.. he adds depth to the batting, good fielder... He can play aggressively only if he wished to.. Last year in NZL he batted at 3 and scored 3x 50s at a 155+ SR and also the reason why Pak can consistently put score above 160 in all the games quite easily but it was the bowling that was so atrocious back then lost them 4-1

He will be forced to now if he comes in to this unit, otherwise he will caught out odd..

Agha is better player of spin than Babar for middle overs and even against pace can pierce gaps while Babar got only few shots in his arsenal.

What surprises me is how we scouted this guy given his poor average in domestics and how poor management is at identifying talent. To choose him over likes of haider ali, khwaja nafay, maaz sadaqat was a 4d move.
I had not seen this guy much in Domestic before. Today was really the first innings I had seen of him.

You can see he has potential. There are ingredients. But he needs some work as well. Hopefully now with confidence he'll work on it and be a permanent member of this side.

Just reading through this thread.

A lot of you guys really need to calm down and not panic. Watch enough cricket from around the globe and see what kind of players are playing the modern game. Stop worrying too much. They will all come good as long as they are the right players for the right format.

Auckland has given some memorable innings while chasing. Inzamam wc semi, Sachins first innings as opener. This one from pak perspective a significant innings.
