The celebration was classy as well, i don't like to see him being so serious all the time. Smile dude smile!![]()
I mean really... I just watched the highlights of the game again. how many people can do that?? My God what an insane innings given the context of the match. World Cup Final. You're the captain, leading your side and you totally annhilate the other side. Best Finals innings of all time
i will not remember him .He was a terrific bat but had disgusting habit of spitting on his palms !!!
I will remember Ricky as one of the toughest players ever. Feilding at silly point he was smashed in the face, and blood splattered everywhere . He must have been in pain, but the expression on his face never changed.
^ it was his way of getting under the skin of the opposition. As an Oz fan I used to feel he went over the top at times too....... But that's our Ricky...
Best batsman I have seen play
A typical moaning Aussie. Good player in his day though, rubbish now.
Dont think so.
Def a bully and bad natured fellow. He was gen riled up every morning it seemed. Be it the opposition player, the umpire, or even at the press conference.. he was ready to pick up a fight anytime.
Ponting can field and lead a side as well...Character wise and batting no where near to someone like Sachin and I'm a Non-Indian saying that. Don't like the Indian team and its fans but Sachin is a special person. Don't forget Sachin can also bowl a bit.

He obviously got under your skin![]()
Elaborate on the underlined part pls..
I thought Inzi was pretty good with that attribute.
Nope.
A foul mouthed/natured cry baby is not worth that much really![]()
Wow he really did get under your skin.
Confirmation of Pontings all time greatness came when he was voted player of the decade from 2000-2009 by an overwhelming majority by a jury comprising former and current players and cricket writers.
Ponting was the stand out player as voted by the players themselves, former players and cricket writers.
It was amazing to watch a player with incredible skills with the bat, fielding and leading the team.
The way he led the team in the WC is legendary and will remain one of Australias proudest moments.
Only an idiot will dispute Ponting's claim as an all time great. A phenomenal talent, a wonderful batsman he was.
.
In terms of his tactical nous Ponting isn;t as good as Clarke.
.
The reason he was voted the player of the decade was also because he was a all time great fieldsman and a brilliant leader of men. That is why most of his peers, former players and cricket critics overwhelmingly voted for him. Not just his batting skills but his fielding and leadership.
Mark Taylor was the best captain Australia has had in the modern era because he had both tactical nous and great leadership.
To everyone complaining about Ponting being a bad sport/sook - would you be complaining if he was a Pakistani or Indian or Englishman?
To everyone complaining about Ponting being a bad sport/sook - would you be complaining if he was a Pakistani or Indian or Englishman? Or would you be saying that he has "pride and wears his heart on his sleeve".
Horrid player, who can't even bat well in the best tournament in the world, the IPL. Playing the best bowlers, like 147 kph speedster Vinay Kumar, Pointing shows how easy it is to hoodwink people into thinking you're good in Internationals. Indeed, IPL is the best measure, and he has failed. Sachin beats him hands down.
An all-time great batsmen, fielder and a great captain but inferior to Michael Clarke.
Clarke might be better tactically but he had some issues with players in the dressing room.
Ponting was better when it comes to man management.
Ponting unlike Clarke had leadership qualities esp raising his batting during crunch moments. Clarke was very good at home but away not so good.
The one who pushed Sharad Pawar
Best Aussie batsman ever across formats.
I’ll remember him as only one thing a CHEAT.
I cannot beleive the praise he’s getting from indian posters here he’s cheated the most against you guys

Cheat? How? Are you specifically speaking about the Sydney Test against us in 2008? He was being rowdy and obnoxious, no doubt about that. A very, very unlikable character on the field. But I don't think he was a cheat.
