Fakhar Zaman speaking during the Desert Vipers Podcast:

“Hundred percent I will play for Pakistan (again). Actually, many people do not know about that, but after the T20 World Cup I got sick and because of the medical condition I was not fit, so I was not a part of the team.”

“But now I recovered a hundred percent, and you will see me in the next international series which Pakistan plays.”

“My plan has been around the Champions Trophy (in 2025). I did not play in the Australia tour or in the South Africa tour, so my whole plan was just to play in the Champions Trophy to make myself available and to be fully fit for the tournament.”

“That was in the back of my mind, and I am thankful, and I am lucky to be fit right now. I started from the Champions Trophy 2017 and that went really well for me and now I am very excited for the next edition also.”

“I hope and I believe that he will recover quickly, and I was thinking yesterday to call Saim just to talk to him about this injury. Believe me, he is such a great player that if he continues to play for the next four to five years, he will be at the top and he will be amongst the top three players in the world.”

“There are many Pakistani players who have played for the Desert Vipers including Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Azam Khan and Mohammad Amir and they talk really highly about this team, the environment, the management, the way they play the cricket and the way their mindset is.”

“So, when I got the offer, without any discussion with anyone, I said ‘yes, I would love to play for this team.”

“I was really excited and, to be honest, I was supporting this team even before I was a part of this, so I am really excited to be here and I am very happy.”

“Of course, my preference is always to open for any team, like if I play in the T20 matches or 50-over games, but you know it also depends on the team requirement.”

“In Pakistan we have three of the best players in the world in Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub, so sometimes I feel lucky to be in the team even if I am not able to make my place in the team as an opener."

“If the team has faith in me and they want me to bat at number four or five, so that totally makes sense, because for me the team is always first and I play wherever the team wants me to play, but I always prefer to open.”

“I know he does not know about it, but I am very excited to play with Sherfane Rutherford because he is one of the best cricketers in the T20 format and I really enjoy seeing him batting.”

“I am very excited to be part of this team, and I want to share the crease with him. He is one of the best players, so I am very excited to play with that guy.”

“If you see our team, the team is very balanced. We have a good mix of young players and experienced players. We have good players, and we have strength in both our bowling and batting.”

“So, if we play as a team – and you know in cricket you need luck also – then hopefully, if luck favours us, you will see us in the finals.”

Ofcourse because Fakhar is best limited overs player in pakistan currently .

Fakhar "I play for my team but I'd prefer to open in all formats"

Babar and rizwan fans: What a rubbish selfish joke of a player. Preferring to open, it's good that he was dropped to 4 shpuld be thankful to misbah for saving his career.

Rizwan : I want no 4 in odi and opening in t20, am not happy with anything else.

Babar and rizwan fans: Rizzu you're my hero, what an ambassador for the team 🤩🤩

Can we not turn this into another RIZWAN BABAR debate>??? CAn we do that???

Look at fakhar's comments? Who is he taking a dig at? Who my friend? Who is he subtly alluding to with pure malicious intent?

Fakhar and Imam should open in the CT if Saim is unavailable. Also, Fakhar should be back at #4 in T20Is.

Fakhar just covering up his shadow ban. My 5 year old lies better than this.

A true team player though, can sacrifice anything for the team.

Rizwan at no 4 claiming that he's not happy and him at opening despite single handidely costing the sa game is the example of a true player who sacrifices anything for the team?

Didn't understand this. Rizwan did not claim he's not happy at 4. He said he wanted to bat at 4 and wasn't happy at 5. And he's doing great at 4 in ODIs. That's his best position whether you agree with it or not.

Which SA game are you referring to?

Here's an interesting ODI stats:

Fakhar while batting first has an average of 43.88 and strike rate of 88.63.

Fakhar while chasing has an average of 48.90 and strike rate of 97.60.

Not many good batters around the world have such an improved record in average and strike rate while chasing.

“Hundred percent I will job to Babar and Rizwan and take the blame for it”

We don't want him to play again but DELIVER again, with CT around the corner. It is the same event which made him FZ.

I mean more concerned about his form rather than just mere comeback in side.
Fakhar will always be inconsistent, nothing will change that.

The question is, do you take an inconsistent batter who can pull one hit wonders or do you take a batter like Abdullah or imam who at their worst will be tail enders and at their best will soft score and have no impact to the overall scoreboard.

Fakhar inconsistent.???

He averages 47 with 11 ODI hundreds.

Id take an "inconsistent" player like him any day.

His average is inflated due to his 180, 193's, 210's etc which are monster hundreds.

Don't get me wrong I'm not mocking him, I'd take an inconsistent player like him as well. He's too valuable to drop.

But it doesn't change the fact that his entire career has been to fail 5 to 6 games in a row and follow it up with 2 daddy hundreds then fail 5 to 6 games and then 2 daddy hundreds, rinse and repeat.

What a clown moment 🤡

So his daddy hundreds won't be counted?

Stop being aggressive and think rationally for once.

I'm.not saying they won't be counted. I'm disagreeing with the notion that he isn't an inconsistent batter so maybe read properly next time.

Everyone knows that fakhar is an impact batter but he is inconsistent, he'll kick off once every 10 games. That's the story of his career, however when he kicks off its magic.

And don't argue for the sake of arguing, I made a similar comment comparing head and Travis and you liked it, now you're reverting.

Fakhar Zaman has 27, 50+ scores in 81 ODI innings. How is that inconsistent?

He makes 50s and small 30s in between as well. But just because he doesn't make hundred every other game doesn't mean he becomes inconsistent.

Even if you remove his stats against Zimbabwe. He still averages like a consistent batter.

Just because he recently in Asia Cup and Afghanistan series had a lean patch doesn't mean he is or was an inconsistent batter. By same logic then Babar is an inconsistent batter because he didn't had a century for so long.

27, 50+ scores in 81 innings means he scores fifty or more runs every 3rd game. That's a record of a consistent batter.

Babar is 100% an inconsistent batter since 2022 lol. Don't know what point you are trying to make.

By inconsistent I mean fakhar fails against teams he's not suppose to but succeeds when you least expect him to.

After his 3 daddy hundreds vs NZ, He flopped vs Nepal and just wasn't great in asia cup, even against rubbish bowlers in warmup games like when aus decided to bowl the likes of Warner and nz the likes of mitchell he flopped.

Sane warmup matches where even saud punished said bowlers black and blue despite not being an attacking batter by default.

Yet he makes a comeback and scored another daddy 100 vs NZ and saves Pakistan against NZ.

Even during his 2017-2019 golden run I would see him score daddy 50's only to score like 0 of 12 balls and get dismissed.

These inconsistent innings are highly uncommon for most batters.

Some like kohli isn't gonna score a 50 every other game but suddenly score 0 of 12 straight after.

It was similar with Ahmed shehzad scoring a century the game before and getting dismissed for a duck the next game. Granted shehzad is not even on the same planet as fakhar as a batter.

You're clutching at straws here.

Give me a reason why a batter who scored 50+ in every 3rd game is inconsistent and I have proven to you with stats.

Okay bro, I'm clutching at straws cause you said so.

I already gave you a reason. You're not accepting the reason. Big difference between not providing a reason and not accepting one.

Imam is the other side of that coin yet you say you don't want him either.

There is no such thing as a perfect player.

Failures here and there are part and parcel for any cricketer especially for someone like Fakhar who plays high risk and takes chances.

An inconsistent player doesn't have stats as Fakhar. As simple as that. If a player is scoring runs every 3rd game then he cannot be labeled as inconsistent

If you say so. Savak already did a detailed analysis on this

He definitely will. I really hope he stays fit and in form for the next WC. He wasn't fluent in the t20 cup but seemed to have found form at the end of the tournament.

Just a few weeks ago Fakhar was interviewed during the domestic champions cup if he’s injured.

And he said if he was unfit/injured would he really be playing the tournament.

Something along those lines.

And now he’s acting all innocent and saying “people don’t know that I was unfit”?

He’s either acting OR the PCB has talked to him and assured him of a place in the CT and asked him to keep his mouth shut.

So, he’s keeping his mouth shut with diplomatic statements.

Regardless, he’s needed for the CT.

Only dynamic top 3 should play for Pakistan which should never include the likes of Imam and RIZWAN.

In an interview with a media outlet, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody praised the abilities of Fakhar Zaman:

“At the end of the day, as long as he [Fakhar Zaman] is delivering for the Desert Vipers, that’s a real bonus for us.”

“That’s why we embraced the opportunity to have him as part of our squad. There’s no question about his capabilities and the impact he can have as a player. We welcome him wholeheartedly.”

“He looks great in the net sessions. He’s fitted in perfectly and has trained really well. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table.”

COO of Lahore Qalandars, Sameen Rana talks about Fakhar Zaman's thyroid problem and his fitness.
