[VIDEOS]"I have what it takes to represent my country at the international level" : Imran Butt

cant even play a forward defense with bat and pad together, or leave the ball. worst player ever to play test cricket.

He has had 4 tests against decent teams and looks awful. Looking at this tripe, Shan Masood was no where as bad( admittedly not great either) and will come back into contention along with Middle order guy whose name escapes me
Usman Salahuddin?

Now that you look at the thread title and can only wonder what goes through the thick heads of these guys.

He didn't mention which country - could've been referring to Zimbabwe or Nepal.

I swear if we send Shaheen or Abbas to open the batting, I am 99% sure they will do better than this clown.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a batsman so woefully unprepared to play test cricket.

All these guys do is talk lies, pretending they are one of the best out of there...

Whenever I see comments like these, its very possible that the guy is just a crap player and will say anything to please others.

IMO, if any guy blabbers self praise and self recommendation, it should automatically disqualify him from moving ahead.

Averaged 26 in 11 matches he played 2018 QAE. Topped the charts in one season in 2019 which was newly formed structure with flattest wickets, didnt get a go. After an year his name suddenly popped up in Pak squad before which he didnt even have much form behind him.

Lessons to be learned:

1) Let the batsman deliver in atleast two seasons before inducting him (Especially when someone’s career average is in 30s)

2) When selecting someone select when he is in form and confident of his game

Looks totally at sea and with zero confidence at all.

He's a good lad and I feel sorry for him, but maybe this level is a step too far for him.

Saj if you can get a message sent to him to go all blazing in the 2nd innings. Sometimes attack in the best form of defence. This could well be the last game of his short career. What a slip catcher though.

He's not really an all out attacking type of player. I'd be very surprised if he tried this.

Fair enough. It seems like he is always looking to block. The intent to score runs / boundaries need to be there.

I don't want to say anything bad about him, but the people who have consistently picked him in the squad and the eleven.

Played wonderfully for his 37. I think there is a player ready to explode. I'll keep him for next couple of tours.

There’s an argument to be made about how many runs his slip catching saves. Yes, he’s clearly not good enough with the bat right now, but he’s fairly young and should be allowed to develop and improve for at least a few more games. His technique needs a lot of work, let’s hope he comes good, because he is, without a doubt in my mind, the best slip fielder Pakistan has ever produced.
Abid Ali, on the other hand, needs to pack up and leave ASAP. Dropped two crucial catches that could have cost us the game, and looks like a club player against any average Test attack. Terrible player.

Saw the highlights of his innings.

Quite ugly and low standard.

Nothing close to have a class to play TEST cricket.

His slip catching is so good u could bracket him into the Allrounder category...

His technique needs a lot of work you said. Can you please explain? Serious question btw as I'm struggling to see much wrong with the guy technically. Also, have you followed him during hos last domestic season?

He doesnt seem to know where his off-stump is, if you look at his latest dismissal, his front foot was not even fully planted when he was pushing at the ball....thats an unstable base and leads to errors. he is inconsistent with playing with his bat and pad and there are gaps in his defence. just not a good enough batsman on anything with even a slight amount of bounce or movement.

Lahore, 5 October 2021: Balochistan’s Imran Butt has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for a level 1 offence for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during his side’s ongoing Cricket Associations Championship fixture against Northern at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

Imran demonstrated obvious disappointment when he was deemed LBW by on-field umpire and was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

On-field umpires Farooq Ali Khan and Zulfiqar Ali levelled the charge on the batter, who accepted the sanction proposed by match-referee Ahmer Saeed.

Balochistan captain Imran Butt and Central Punjab opener Abid Ali made centuries in their sides’ matches against Sindh and Southern Punjab on the opening day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22.

Imran smashed 104 off 222 to record his sixth first-class century at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. The right-hander knitted a solid 194-run stand with his fellow opener Imam-ul-Haq, who missed out on a century by three runs, as he was dismissed by Asad Shafiq after scoring 97 off 166 (10 fours and two sixes).

Pakistan Cup 2022:

At the Multan Cricket Stadium, Imran Butt’s unbeaten century led Balochistan to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Central Punjab. Chasing 180 to win, Balochistan achieved the target in the 37th over which included unbeaten 100 off 128 balls from Imran. The right-handed batter struck nine fours and knitted 60-run partnership for the opening wicket with Haseebullah (32, 30b, six fours) and 75 runs for the second wicket with Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (32, 39b, two fours).

Kind of feel bad for this guy

He would have scored a 50 at least in the Pindi Test

Good to see him hitting runs.

But I still maintain that the selectors didn't pick him when he was at his best a few seasons ago.

Glaring error.

Currently 24*(56) with his side 5 wickets down in chase of 237 vs Zimbabwe select.

Playing the anchor role?

Gone for 45(81) - Did what he could but should have done better with the experience he has.

Wow well, Pakistan are showing that we have like no bench strength so far with how Pakistan Shaheens have been doing against Zimbabwe.

So as soon as Zimbabwe put out a decent XI with some talent and experience our boys struggle.

Very odd that he was named as captain for Shaheens tour of Zimbabwe and in 5th OD is playing as just a player and Hussain Talat is captain.

Made a good comeback:

Earlier, after being put into bat, Shaheens scored 314 for six in their allotted 50 overs. Making three changes to their side in the must-win game, Shaheens got off to a great start as opening batters Imran Butt (64, 65b, 7x4s, 1x6) and Haseebullah (62, 77b, 9x4s)had a 139-run stand between them.

I was a fan of his slip catching back in the day

Just wondering if he can picked in the test squad just to be used as a substitute fielder

He can change the game just by taking a stunning catch or two

Career-best 255(401) First Class score for Imran Butt.

The opener became the 6th batsman to hit a double century at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore this season.

Is the bowling so bad or are the wickets flat like a pancake.

You do question the quality when below average blokes make 255 in an innings

Both. Terrible standard all round. You want flat wickets but Sporty Wickets. These wickets and the standard is appalling. Most of the players are basically 2nd eleven county players and probably worse.

Imran Butt led Lahore Blues to victory with 128 off 113 deliveries at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Imran Butt will perhaps have the same sort of failures as Abdullah & Imam, but hey at least he will take those damn catches in slips.

I say bring the average lad back!

Might be wrong here but he’s always been placed at 3rd slip, all the drop catches have been at 1st and 2nd slip.

Probably the best slip fielder followed by younis khan or Asad Shafique. He would have taken those easy peasy dollies but he was not that much impressive with the bat.

I think he has 15 catches in 5 test matches. Even top wicket keepers don't have such stats but yes he is not even an average test batsman like Ramiz Raja was..

The best ever PK slipper. He was like a machine. Shame he couldn't bat

There is still a spot for Imran Butt. If he can work more on his batting specifically on 4th/5th stump line then an opportunity will be their for him.
