Yes, that's the most important part, staying on the ground. That way they will continue to put in the hard yards and improve. It's also important to never be satisfied and wanting to get better and better. That's what makes a talented player a good player, and a good player a great player.

Its T20 - everybody is hittable. He is a much better prospect than all of our other so-called A/R's - Anwar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti, Faheem Ashraf and even Aamer Yamin to certain extent. Hopefully under Waqar's wing at IU and Pak - he can work on his lengths and variations, not every bowler in our attack needs to be at bowling 140+

I was joking. There was someone on here before that said Ammad Butt is very hittable, and then said I have no eye for talent for saying the inning last night shows he's a clutch player.

Shadab batting decently in a role he's not made for. Still don't get how he wasn't selected for tests to bat at 7.

Misbah made a big mistake announcing the t20i squad so early. He should have waited for this tournament to finish. Ammad Butt definitely deserved it. Aqif Javed deserves selection so much more than Irfan.
 
If only Pak management is willing to take a 16 member T20 squad. He is in great form and Pak should utilize it.

any ideas about Ammad's pace... his heavy ball is about 140kz which isnt bad... i think he is generally about 135k avg with heavy balls in early 140z ...

he used to bowl at 145k regularly, but after changing his action last year he has lost around 5k to 7k pace

Performing consistently for a while now. Should be playing T20s ahead of Wahab.
 
Very impressed by Amad -just need to see some fifties under his belt now.
 
This guy has actually shown decent performances with the bat whereas someone like Faheem is living off a fluke innings in a frickin warm up game :facepalm:

Justice needs to be done soon and Amad given a chance ahead of useless Faheem.
 
Unless you're a Waqar Younis , Waseem Akram , one should not be fast tracked to International cricket. Amad has been playing FC and domestic cricket for 4-5 years now, has been gradually improving his skill and performance and now its the right time to prefer him over useless "allrounders" and include him to ODI and T20 team. He still needs to polish his skill more, which he will do once in big league.
 
Whereas Faheem has gone downhill, this lad has steadily and slowly improved in all facets of his cricket.

I was speaking with some of his team-mates and they say he's a very hard trainer and hard working cricketer.

Perhaps he's due a lucky break soon regarding selection.

I have heard the same things, but we are reaching the point where his age - he’s 24 and a half officially - is becoming a problem.

Players like him don’t develop if you leave them in domestic cricket or junior international cricket. Rather like Fawad Alam this season they thrive against weak opposition when the best players are on international duty.

You have to do what happened with Abdul Razzaq - add them to international squads early so that they practice in the nets against international batsmen and bowlers every day.

When Northants offered Faheem Ashraf an expanded and extended contract they did so explicitly stating that he is faster than their other bowlers.

It’s a worry that Amad Butt has already lost around 5-10K in speed. His role in international cricket would be as fourth seamer outside Asia, batting at number 8 (or even 7 if you are right about Shadab deteriorating).

That’s the Ben Stokes or Mitchell Marsh role. And to survive as a bowler requires either pace or movement or preferably both.

Should be a lock-in for the LOI teams. If Faheem can be given a long rope, not sure why this lad is still on the fringes.

He has been handling the pressure extremely well recently. Previously with the bat as he played some impressive knocks under pressure in national T20 cup and now with bowl in hand as well.

Should be part of both the T20 and ODI plans going forward.
 
Someone convince me he's not Anwar Ali v2 with both the bat and the ball.

Who has seen him play well-timed strokes against the pacers 360 degrees, or at least most of them on the off side?

Who has seen him consistently bowl above 138-139 kph?

If nobody can vouch for the above two things, he'll turn out to be yet another Anwar Ali at the international level. If we tone down the typical hyping, that's what he appears to be.

Anwer Ali wasnt let down by his batting as he still can bat better than Faheem in LOIs rather his bowling with nothing much to offer.

While Amad isnt consistently in 140s but he can go upwards of 140 kph and he does bowl a heavy ball even in mid to late 130s and his back of the hand slower ball is one of the best around in Pak domestic cricket. Unlike many he is also a thinking cricketer and is fit too.

He atleast have a strong zone where he can hit the bowl unlike Faheem who struggled both on the offside as well as leg side not only because of lack of skills but his pressure handling skills as well which with Amad is a big plus.

He shouldnt be hyped to be the next best thing since the sliced bread but he definitely is an upgrade over previous pace bowling all rounders we have been seeing as he can actually bat and ball decently and more importantly which is probably the most important aspect of international cricket in my opinion is that he has a good temperament and pressure handling skills.

Comparing with Faheem's batting is not a comparison bro. When you say he can actually bat, do you mean like a proper allrounder (it has to be someone who can hit!).

Amad is a bowling all rounder so I wont compare him with the likes of Stokes who is more of a batting all rounder.

He is more than good enough to bat at no 8 and provide momentum at the end of the innings and provides a decent 3rd,4th seam bowling option. He can hit the pacers when ball is in his zone, just like most hitters he is stronger at hitting straight down the ground and towards mid on. However, he has decent ability to put the ball away on off side as well. His Innings against Southern Punjab when Baluchistan needed 30 runs in 15 balls in national T20 cup where he hit Umaid Asif for a few sixes who might not be the fastest but definitely is a bowler with a lot of weapons in T20s was one of the besthitting under pressure by a Pakistani batsman I have seen in recent times.

He averages 19 with the bat in List A with a SR of 99 manifesting he is a bowler who can bat so expectations should be such. If we need a pace bowling all rounder at no 8, I dont think anyone offers more than him in LOIs at the moment.

I agree. He should be given a go in LOIs and see where he goes from there, there is definitely no harm in trying him especially when we have been trying to find a pace bowling all rounder. He averages 24 with ball in FC cricket so he does offer decent potential with bowl in hand too.

He is not stopping, one performance after another, keep nudging the selectors. He would bring badly needed balance to the side at #7, bowling allrounder. Bring him in when he is hot.

Totally. Selections have historically been pretty poor in this aspect as a time to give someone a chance is when he is in full form and flow, no point waiting if he is to be included in team plans going forward.

I would say bring him in to the Karachi test in place of Abbas. Abbas needs the Remo set that he an be dropped and isn't an automatic selection. His form is very poor. Amad will do decent with the ball and will add depth to the batting at number 8. He is also very fit and is probably a good fielder. His style of bowling is well suited to Pakistan conditions.

While its highly unlikely thing to happen considering our monotonous and traditional selection methods in tests but he can definitely be more accurate than what we are seeing and his batting is a bonus. Other suitable combo can be drafting him in along with either Shadab or Zafar and make it a five bowers combo as wickets in Karachi are generally high scoring so an extra bowler can help.

Though I think considering everything, best chance he has for a debut in any format is BD T20s if the tour goes ahead.
 
Finally. Hopefully he plays all the games. He is the allrounder we need, also handles pressure well.

Richly deserved. He has improved batting massively also his bowling suits t20 format which requires different kind of variation which he does have

For any international team main focus is to win the series first with what they think is the best xi.
 
He can hold a bat and has some power game, however his bowling is on par with Hammad or just slightly better.

Unless he has developed his bowling, he will get carted around and is a liability with the ball, plus bowls medium pace at best.

he is much better than hammad... he is i think better than Faheem ... has ability to bowl yorkers and has deceptive slow balls ....
 
i dont think he is better than faheem thats the issue...but if you look at the full package including his slower bowls etc he might be on par with him..his batting is similar to faheem but he deserves a chance i just hope he takes it.

Unless he has improved drastically, he is an average bowler.

Faheem is comfortably better than him.
 
Ofcourse its not something to base a judgement on, but it looked like he went for a lot of runs during the practice match(es)

He's been like that in all the PSL competitions I've watched. Definitely has more bad games than good ones. Would hate to see what would happen if he was exposed to the top international teams.

It wasnt him whole bowling unit couldnt finish well rather he was better in his last over than some others. He finished with 4-0-27-4 which are pretty good figures by any standard.

His yorker to Vince and slower balls were pretty impressive.

Not international quality but is decent at the franchise level. He needs to work on his concentration, he bowls too many 4 balls atm.
 
Very good spell today his slower balls are really good needs to bowl between 7-14 overs when he has more fielders out
