[VIDEOS] Is Babar Azam the best all format batter in the world currently?

If Pakistan continue to lose, it could become a case of people outside the team - Babar and Shaheen included - looking better than they are now.

I agree. For example, it is hilarious to see India top the ICC ODI ranking when it is not even good enough to win an ODI World Cup at home.

And Pakistan at no.7 in T20Is when it's losing to teams like USA, Ireland, New Zealand C
 
It’s becoming more and more apparent isn’t it? Babar needs roads to bat properly? Not just in Test cricket, but in every format the guy only seems to score runs and survives on tracks that are the least bit challenging. He doesn’t have the stomach or skill to stand and bat on challenging decks regardless of the quality of the opponent. There are other batsmen in Pakistan who have regularly shown much for fight than he has on tracks that are not absolute roads.

It will be shame but he clearly should be labelled a ‘Glorified FTB!’ In every format

During Ramiz Raja's tenure, from September 13, 2021, to December 21, 2022, Babar averaged 70 in home conditions, despite Pakistan not winning a single Test at home. However, after that period, his average dropped to 30. This suggests that the focus was more on making Babar look impressive on flat pitches rather than achieving wins for Pakistan.
 
Batting averages of mid tier teams are often misleading due to playing a lot of games vs minnow teams.

Nowadays, Big 3 play a lot against each other while NZ, SA, Pak have to contend with playing SL and BD and each other more which results in stat padding.

Babar performed on the flattest pitches ever produced in Pakistan’s long Test history; when you look at your schedule for that WTC cycle, it was a golden opportunity for Pakistan to make the finals. Instead you had one of your worst Test runs in history at home…but but Babar scored some runs, what did it actually mean ? Zilch.

Babar is not the best all-format batter atm. Head is above him if we somehow ignore his away performances in test cricket but He has done wonders in other formats.

Babar needs to wake up now as his time is running out.

His T20 career is in the dumps. Averages below 40 now with a sub standard SR. Thoughts on his test career? 2 overseas centuries in 10 years. Average trending to below 40. Would be great to get you thoughts here @Mobashir
 
After the retirement of Gayle, Kohli and Rohit from T20is, Babar is currently the best T20 batsmen in world cricket.

What a match winning knock today, showed all haters why he’s the best.

As your name suggests, you will keep crying out loud because Babar is gonna play '28, '30 WC along with '28 olympics too if Pak team gets to olympics. That too even if you play him out of position as you're currently doing.

160 strike rate is surely too much for Babar. Even 150 strike rate is very difficult for him. The best he can do is around 130-140 strike rate.
 
Nope... Not the best one out there... But there are not many all-format players out there atm who are doing well.. Things are not that easy

There was a time in 20/21 when he was best all around batter in world.

It didn't last he regressed in all three formats. T20 cricket has evolved past him now. Test was always his worst format.

Jokes aside - and as an Indian the jokes front up very easily - it’s a pity how this guy lost his way.

For a year or so I did think we had someone who’d take the mantle of greatness, surpassing Inzi to match and maybe surpass Miandad.

Never ever came close. Forget his white ball tuk tuk, you need to perform in TEST cricket. He never did that.

In ODISs apart from cheap runs in JAMODIs what has he done in ICC events, which match winning knocks has he ever played?
 
Babar is respected more outside of Pak than he is by some so-called Pakistani fans which is a matter of national shame. Despite his average BBL, Babar was box office in BBL. They were treating him and even Riz with reverence. The game between Riz and Babar was billed as the clash of heavyweights. No cricketer in recent history has got as much adulation as Babar in that part of the world. Even Shaheen admitted it in an interview where he said whenever opposition players talk about Babar, they refer to him as King.

Babar's poor form has given trolls an opportunity to attack him but he still has 32 international 100s. He will end with 50+ 100s for Pak and leave a legacy behind. A young Babar took Steyn on in SA and smashed him around, he won a WC game vs NZ in 2019 and destroyed Bhumrah in a 10 wicket thrashing in 2021 T20 WC. He took NZ out again in the semi of the T20 WC and stood like a rock against Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood to save a test. People glorify tulla HTBs like Head or hacks like SKY and denigrate Babar simply because he has had a bad patch.

I said till 2022. Yes most of his test innings are in winning causes.

His average was 60.9 in matches Pakistan won before 2022. What else you need? Should have been averaging 100 or we should have not lost a single match because Babar Azam played??

Which legacy will he leave behind? Striking at 110 in T20 WCs, hiding and failing in ICC events 50 overs or being an absolute flop in TEST cricket who cant score a 100 in SENA?

You all fail to realize that cricket is a team game not an indivudual sports. Babar has most runs in winning cause across formats, he is the highest scorer for Pak in one edition of WC in both ODIs and T20 WCs. I mean what do you guys expect? He is not your behnoi if you have other aspirations from him

That’s because Pakistan hardly wins. And when wins, it’s mostly against Bangladesh, SL, etc.

It’s not like Babar smashed a century at Perth or J’berg or Lords. All his games against good strong attacks on difficult pitches are excluded from this stat. Because Pakistan doesn’t win in those circumstances.

That’s why average in wins can be a very deceptive stat.

His overall average was around 50 too at that time, and he was performing great in ether two formats, no player was that consistent s yes three formats he was, only test format no there were better batsmen but they were not great either in t20 or ODi. Thats very simple, why are you writing big essays on this.
He was the best all formats players during that time, now you can write bigger essays.
