Again, Haris Rauf speeds and the amount of hype he gets.Just look at those speeds... 73rd over and such pace. Nice

He's lucky that he kept getting injured otherwise we would have been exposed by now. But 6 years after debuting he is still playing just little enough to keep the hype going for his amazing 91-92mph bowling. He is decent but massive overhyped by certain fans. After 4 year of work load he only gets 2 wickets in 1st innings against India at the lord's test and from those two wickets one was from Number 8 test batsman who was slogging at that time. Lol

It's rare to see fast bowling spells in test cricket. I can't remember the last time seeing a bowler consistently clock 90mph in this format.Again, Haris Rauf speeds and the amount of hype he gets.
He is not even in the top ten fastest bowlers and gets hyped like he's Brett Lee or Shoaib Akhtar in terms of speed.
He is a over hyped Neil Wagner who's only skill is to bowl bouncers.
I would say the best comparison for him is Wahab Riaz except less fit and more prone to injury.
Still, he is not close to the likes of Akhtar, Lee, Johnson etc. It's rare to see fast bowling spells in test cricket. I can't remember the last time seeing a bowler consistently clock 90mph in this format.
Haris is a T20 bowler he couldn't pull this off in tests.
However the real test for a bowler is not the speed gun but how many wickets they take.
Yeah he's nowhere near Akhtar Lee and Johnson. He has promised a lot but not delivered much so far.Still, he is not close to the likes of Akhtar, Lee, Johnson etc.
Currently wood is faster than him as are a few of the other out and Haris has not really paid test cricket but he's as fast in ODI/ t20.

he has a beutiful smooth action. I enjoy watching him bowl.Apart from the pace, he also doesn’t have their ability to swing and seam.
Hes just a bouncer specialist who gets some luck due to national variation.
A poor man’s Wagner and similar to a Wahab Riaz mould with bat and ball, without the fitness. The odd exciting spell.

He isn't bowling well so far in this innings though.

Yes, Rubbish player managed to get Rubbish Jaiswal out twiceHe is decent but massive overhyped by certain fans. Yes, that pearler to Pant and that C&B of Washington that turned the game upside down were because Woakes is done.Outbowled by a 'finished' Stokes nursing a groin injury. He is being made to look better because Woakes is done, there's no Anderson/ Broad, and the others are newbies. A very good third seamer who is lucky he was injured for the last 5 years so he can continue his hype.

Not a fair comparison, Wood has been the fastest bowler in the world and so will never be able to play consistently without injuries.England put many of their eggs in the Archer and Wood basket.
Wood has spent two years bowling in pressurised tents in Loughborough and Archer handled with kid gloves for years too for this moment.
Unfortunately, it hasn't gone to plan so far.
Bumrah got injured in the last match of the India-Aus series and missed crucial sessions which could have saved India. These guys look punctured at the start.
Moral of the story is you need more Carse and Siraj type bowlers than X-factors who fall flat in key moments.
Hopefully Wood and Archer can redeem themselves.
The quick bowlers these days are made of glass. So much for the advancements of sport science.England put many of their eggs in the Archer and Wood basket.

I think molly coddling bowlers and hoping they will eventually roar is ultimately a failed strategy. The quick bowlers these days are made of glass. So much for the advancements of sport science.
Starc may well be the last 145+ bowler of the old guard.
But your point overall is correct, every team needs workhorses at least one or two. But at the same time, the quick bowlers need to show some quality in the short spells they bowl too.
Archer has had both Atkinson and Carse but he’s been abysmal. Wood if at a certain fitness level (he clearly wasn’t in the first test) is a lot more of a threat in his short, sharp spells
100% the investment in Archer esp for test comeback was an exercise in futility. Archer even before his injuries was a lazy one.I think molly coddling bowlers and hoping they will eventually roar is ultimately a failed strategy.
If Wood and Archer can't bowl consistently, then perhaps they shouldn't be wrapped in cotton wall and have all this resource spent on them in the hope they will bowl a good spell every two years.
It may sound harsh, because ultimately they are human beings, and can't help the way their bodies respond to stress, but perhaps ( and I say this with the benefit of hindsight), England should have cut their losses a lot sooner.
We are sort of guilty of it too, wasting time with Shaheen and Naseem in Tests, when we could have invested in someone who was up for it, and their body was up for it too.

That’s exactly what’s required but they won’t do it. And if they do, he will sulk like he did after the New Zealand tour 2019/2020.He seems like quite a soft lad who has been treated softly and carefully by management, so is ok going through the motions at times. At the end of the day, under this positive regime, you can imagine them saying well done for trying your best Jofra.
He has it all, smooth and repetitive action, pace, bounce, and can be a very good bowler.
They need to try something different with him. Perhaps some Alex Ferguson style hair dryer treatment and tough love, someone sitting him down and being honest and saying listen you've been sh!t, we didn't bend the residency rules for this crap, get your act together and knock some heads or you're on the scrapheap.
See if he responds.
If he sulks, then just get rid.
A slightly better version of Chris Lewis but overall someone who would rather play league cricket than regular test cricket.
