I have thought a lot about what should be Pakistan’s T20I team and I’m convinced that I have nailed it. I have no doubt in my mind that this is a very formidable outfit.

You have an aggressive and deep batting lineup where only one player (Abrar) is a mug with the bat, and there are plenty of bowling options as well.
Aggressive and deep 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Guarantee is your skill set. That’s why top players score good number of runs in powerplay by taking risks. I’m not against the notion of taking risks but I believe SF doesn’t have what it takes to succeed at this level.
So what’s wrong with Farhan? Has he not improved his basics?!

He might have improved, but sometimes it is not about your improvement, it is about who you are competing with.

David Silva and Xabi Alonso would sit on the bench for Spain in their prime because of Iniesta and Xavi.

Farhan must make peace with the fact that no honest and agenda-free selector/coach/captain will pick him over Babar in any format.

I think hes made peace with the fact that hes in the team opening and Ba/Riz aren't.

Good line-up.

I would just place Babar Azam to open with Rizwan at #3.

Babar Azam is best utilized as T20 opener and can make use of powerplay. Saim would be a good foil to Babar.

Moreover, Babar's game is much better versus pace which he will get to play more as an opener versus top teams.

I have thought about that too, and I think it is very interchangeable. You can’t go wrong with either of the two.

Not so fast. He is not even first choice ahead of Fakhar who is a joke of an opener in this format.
Wdym not so fast? Hes opening right now is he not? I'm in no mood to play future guessing games and make a fool out of myself. No thanks.

We only need one wrong prediction for 2025 aka 2025 is the Chinese year of the Babar.

I dont wanna outdo you.

Another problem with Farhan seems to be that he bottles in crunch games.

In National T20 finals, as well as PSL for IU.

Now, this could also be him being exposed when opposition is tough or they bring their A game.

For this reason, he shouldn’t play at all?

He has played 10 T20Is. Let him play some matches before writing his career obituary

You’ve got to hand it to these clowns

“Sorry Farhan, you are brilliant at topping the charts with a healthy average and a strong sr of 160+

But we just ain’t going to pick you because you are likely to fail in the finals of a tournament” 🤡

Sahibzada Farhan leads the T20 run charts in 2025 with 1,128 runs in just 20 innings at a blistering strike rate of 172.21.

Looking at his international and PSL batting prrformances so far.
So what do you see in Babar and Rizwan’s PSL and International batting that suggests they are better and more deserving than Farhan???

So what’s wrong with Farhan? Has he not improved his basics?!
I’m not convinced by what I see. Yes he has improved but not to the extent where he can succeed at this level.
He lacks strong hitting base plus he’s very vulnerable against short pitch bowling. Any opener who’s not good against short pitch bowling will struggle to score in T20Is.

Pakistan have scored, and chased, 200+ with Babar and Rizwan several times as well. All I am asking for is people to hold their horses and not catch like this bunch has revolutionized cricket.

Also, what did Shubman Gill do?
No doubt — RizBabar are good players, and they’ve had some great moments. But let’s be honest: the game evolved, and they didn’t quite keep pace. T20 is changing fast — it’s less about just scoring runs and more about how and how quickly you do it.

In their last 50 games, Pakistan couldn’t cross 200 even once with Rizwan and Babar opening — despite batting in the powerplay, which is the easiest time to score. That’s not a hot take, that’s a pretty solid sample size.

So yeah, opinions should be flexible as new data comes in. It’s not about writing them off — it’s about adapting expectations to the direction modern T20 is heading.

As for “revolutionized” — fair point, maybe that word is doing a bit too much. Let’s hold the horses… but maybe don’t stable the whole herd just yet. Some of these young guns might just be on to something.

Responded on Gill on the other thread. You showed flexibility there, and perhaps it’s time for you to show some of that flexibility here.
