[VIDEOS] Mohammad Hasnain : International cricket performance watch

Awful selection.

We already have Shaheen in the squad as the newbie, we didn't need another one.

he landed yorkers when needed, he bowled good lines mostly...i dont know what else people want from him.

can bowl good yorkers but Im concerned with the fact he isnt moving the ball much..may not mean anything in this tournie with its predicted flat phatta pitches..but it would help if he could do a bit more with the ball

If Pakistan loses the games against Eng then who knows Shinwari, Amir might be in afterall.

A lot of crazy things can happen when Pakistan panics!

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I don't like his release. Looks like he could be cutting across the outside of the ball slightly when it leaves his hand, that would affect any movement, and probably speed too. It might just be me though, don't know if anyone else has seen it.

Proven World Cup performer

We are not in 2011 buddy .he was terrible in his last icc event against india in champions trophy. BTW who can forget his legendary bowling against steven smith in 2016 worldcup

By that logic McGrath should have never played again after Razzaq hit him for 24 in an over.

Waqar should have retired after 96 QF after Jadeja hammered him.

I can go on and on.

What a disrespectful statement for legend like McGrath and waqar .Wahab is no way near them .these two have won alot of matches for there country same cannot be said for phast bowler wahab raiz.
Btw what are you on about razzaq are you talking about just 5 fours in a over ?Wahab raiz have been destroyed many time in his career and even over the hill yuvraj Singh not long ago was treating like a club level bowler

He is young and can learn but i don't think he should have been in the world cup squad. If they needed pace wahab should have selected. He has been bowling wonderful. He looked stronger fitter and improved even shoaib akhtar mentioned i think management made a mistake by not adding wahab.

His sample size is not enough to gauge him, to be honest. He should be sent back to domestic cricket where he should prove himself first. I am not a fan of drafting players directly into international cricket without any domestic cricket experience.

Players should not be picked from PSL. Inzi needs to do his job and go to domestic matches and pick players who have performed day in and out. He is getting hefty amount but picks players from PSL in the end. Even I can do that.

Waqar on commentary regarding Hasnain.

Said that his run-up has improved and is smoother now. However his strides are too long in his run-up and that his run-up is perhaps a bit too long.

He's bowling a bit better today, although it should be said he's not really bowling much faster than Hasan Ali. generally around 88mph, although he could probably stop bowling from behind the crease so much as that is giving the batsman extra time to pick the length.

.

Easily looked the best pakistan bowler on show today

You need that fire!!! I have been saying that... he looks like the only wicket taker

Could have developed him in the last year or so and made him play List A cricket and he would be ready for the WC but NO ! carrying uninterested ,pathetic Amir with the team was more important.

Really don't understand why people have been critical of his selection.

Really don't understand why people have been critical of his selection.

He hasn't played any List A cricket, selecting him on the basis of PSL's average performances was a gamble and even wrong to be honest

I watched him for an extended time yesterday for the first time, and I must say it was an embarrassment. He got no control and no plan more or less randomly running and throwing the ball. In modern day cricket, we need professionals out there this formula of 80s and 90s of throwing in young players without any exposure or understanding of high-level cricket will not do any good for the team and or for the individual himself.

I would love to see him play first class cricket and Pakistan A learns how to ball and work for the national side and get selected again.

On the contrary he looked quite decent yesterday. Yes there were some bad balls in between which can be put down to inexperience but he looked the most threatening among Pakistan bowlers

If this is threatning then I am sorry for Pakistan I am used to better standard of cricket.

I feel you are reading too much into figures.

Anyways in my opinion he looked decent. We can agree to disagree on this

I said this during the psl waqar is right

Over-hyped greenhorn.

doesn't have an athletic build, neither is he lean. got some josh which can only carry you so far & will quickly fizzle out. Needs an astute captain & senior bowlers arm around his shoulder but unfortunately he doesn't have that either.

Thrown in at the deep end by azhar & mickey to save their jobs.

I know I don't share the majority view on this but let me share it anyway . .
I fail to see the hype . .

He is not as fast as people make it out to be . . he was the 3rd fastest bowler on display yesterday . . His fastest bowl is just slightly over 90 and his average is around 87 . . Not fast enough to be playing only on the basis of him being "fast" . .

Then add to that his utility as a batsman and particularly fielder. . I think he is very raw to be playing international cricket right now . .

Even if I completely ignore the figures and look at his bowling and body language, he was no where near international standard, I felt terrible for the kid. Inzi and co are destroying his career before even it begins playing him so early.

Without sounding like a protagonist I don’t mind them playing him early
The amount of promising pacers who have fallen down the pecking order and become inconspicuous in the chief selectors plan and then losing pace or getting injured

He succinctly reminds me of Mohammed Sami with shoaib Akhtar action
I thought hasan ali was the same but he endeared to be something special over the years
So maybe hasnain can come away from England and do the same on dry pitches in Karachi and Abu dhabi

He looks to bowl as fast as possible, no or little movement unlike Amir who started off by swinging it both ways
Even Tanvir was a big swinger when he first came onto the scene
And unlike our own bowling coach he comes without a repetoir of slower bowls and slower ball bouncers in the death overs

If you ask me his current state reminds me of Mohammad Irfan debut more then anyone else. Yes, we don't have reserves of fast bowlers, but that is no reason to destroy a 19-year-olds career in this selfish manner he is a boy who got some pace but needs to learn a lot more before he can play cricket on the top level.

He played 2 first-class matches, and they sent him to play world cup on these batting paradises of wickets. I am not against the youngster I think his current state is an embarrassment for Pakistan cricket and suicide for his career and confidence.

Lol can't believe bowling 86-87 miles and the odd ball at 91 mph is considered serious pace.

He is far from a finished product and shouldn't be in the squad.

Its hilarious that ppers calling him threatening and serious pace etc. He got wickets on two poor deliveries, one inside edge and other one sliding down the leg side and went for 80 runs. Just run and throw with no swing or accuracy at all. He bowls around abt 86 mph on average which even faheem can bowl with better accuracy. Its ovbvious he is not ready yet for international stage. He might be after playing two or three first class season.

Not sure why this guys being classified as “express” - from my understanding express is over 155 consistently. This is just “fast”- only an elite few have been express i.e. akhtar, lee & tait

Harmison must be a PPer too, he was also saying that he was impressed by Hasnain's bowling and that he was the only one to really threaten the batsmen. Unlike others, Harmison also noted the number of misfields which dented the figures for what was overall, a pretty good spell of bowling.

This Alamgeer speaks from a wealth of experience. Harmison still has a long way to go in terms of acquiring such wisdom.

Yeah look what happened to Amir, including the extra circulars that too were telegraphed on and cursed him...

Exactly why I would not have him in the team he is not ready, no control and plan and seems clueless. It’s ruining him by picking him so early. A real lack of professionalism by the selectors. The days of putting in teenagers and crossing your fingers and hoping it will work out are gone. Instead more seasoned and polished bowlers should be chosen. Those that have shown they can set up batsmen and get them out.

Reminds me a lot of Mohammad Talha. Not very athletic, a bit of a slow mover. Hopefully he can get fitter and stronger soon.

Really was impressed with him in the last game bowled his heart out at and average of 90 mph. Just needs to work on that loose delivery he bowls every now and then, but he certainly has that X factor about him triggered the collapse in the last game.

Usman Shinwari who outperformed both Hasnain and Junaid vs Australia

Hur dur dur Shinwari gets hit wain wain wain :(, in PSL yes but he has done very well for Pakistan in ODIs

After Hassan Ali, Shinwari has been the best ODI pacer over the past 2 years - a total wicket taker.

It's a travesty that a washed up Junaid was selected over Shinwari in the WC

Waqar suggesting that Hasnain is taking big strides in his run-up too soon, which is making his run-up laboured.

I am absolutely fed up of our selectors fast-tracking players into the national team based on PSL. We end up destroying more youngsters than helping them by fast-tracking them before they've had a chance to even learn their craft. Yes Hasnain has pace but the modern day batsmen are not frightened by pace - if so, Mark Wood would be the best ODI bowler in the world. If you can combine pace with movement then it's a different matter and I haven't seen this kid move the ball that much.

Yepp why he should be no where need the squad

Rauf was the way better choice to try out. This is school boy bowling

Hasnain is a good talent but he's extremely raw and lacks discipline and consistency, plus he's bowling to arguably the most destructive batting lineup in the world on their home turf. He has a long way to go, I have high hopes from him, but selecting him at this stage of his career was always going to be a gamble.

Awful selection.

Simply awfully rubbish million times. No other words Pakistani bowling is Garbage want really want them to get trashed so that the selector sitting in the comfort of their home how they are Garbage them self including Inzamam.

He is way too raw. Everyone says to bring in Haris but he is raw too.

You can’t just draft in players without them have developed with a right programme which involves exposure to cricket.

We really are being ripped into pieces without having a proper pace bowler and swing bowler.

His control has been poor in more matches than not. Clearly not ready for a world cup campaign.

Haris Rauf is just as raw as Hasnain. Drafting Hasnain into the team was a big gamble, he has shown some positive signs but clearly is too raw for a World Cup. Usman Shinwari deserves a chance ahead of Rauf, or anyone else.

Raw but no way close to Husnain. The difference was clear in PSL

You can see him not able to carry himself and not able to perform even by his standards to his potential all poor lad is doing these days is run and throw the ball.

He got pace, but at what cost? Maybe he is even pushing himself too much for that pace, and without skill and training, he may also end up injuring himself. I agree this PSL based fast-tracking need to stop PSL is useful for development as players play with international cricketers, but it is nowhere near world cup standard.

Can someone give me his average speed and his fastest today? I have been waiting for someone to prove to me that he is genuinely fast . .

I said this already about all of Pakistan's pace bowlers. Most of them bowl in the mid 80mph range. Hasnain bowls slightly higher, and can hit 90, but only once in a while. He is mostly mid-high 80s as well.

I don’t get what all the fuss is about - what exceptional pace?

Unless you are genuine express like Shoaib, Zahid, Brett Lee, Tait, Simon Jones, Starc etc there is no way you should get a place in the team on the basis of offering ‘pace’ alone, you need to be able to take wickets first and foremost.

I’m prepared to see a bowler who can bowl short and sharp spells rattle the batsmen even if he goes for a few runs , but bowling just slightly more than 85/86mph does not merit a place in the team and licence to get whacked around as an ‘express’ pacer.

Even Umar Gul hit 90 now and again.

Selected in ODIs because he bowled a single solitary bowl above 150kph in a domestic T20. You cannot make this up. You have to be a special kind of thick to make these selection decisions.

Well done Inzi. May you be chief selector for a hundred years.

Long way to go.

Rauf at least swung the ball in Pakistani conditions.

He is decent but nothing exceptional. He needs to add a bit more pace and control. He needs a few more domestic seasons. He can serve Pakistan in future
