[VIDEOS] No handshakes between Pakistan and India?

This is another case of hypocrisy of India and their players... Nothing new

Surya is free to choose when to handshake and when not. On the field in front of crowd and camera is a statement, what happens in private is not.

Btw, I still want to know what will happen if Indians don't shake Pakistani players hands next Sunday, will they get the next refree fired too?

I just hope this doesn't become the norm, I might be in a minority @cricketjoshila but that's now how sports should be played, its one thing to boycott but it's another to play like this where only Modiji can hold hands with Pakistanis.(Indian players just shake hands)
This will become the normthe new normal

They will fire the entire icc

This is a very slippery slope in my opinion. Say they lose the next game, or any game against Pakistan in the future, will they be disrespecting the Pahalgam victims? Don’t tie the respect with the result of a cricket match. This will bite you in the backside sooner or later.
Had similar thoughts on this.

CT'17 had similar behaviour but from the outside. The Bollywood losers were on the bandwagon talking really crass and wishing Father's Day etc. It was overkill and not funny. You could see the team which had dominated the tournament were under pressure. I remember seeing Kohli in the tunnel looking severely stressed and closing his eyes and I got this sinking feeling that we could lose (it was a sinking feeling cuz, in theory, at the time, there was no reason for Pak to beat us) And then we got hammered.

This is similarly setting up the Indian team under extreme pressure. What happens if we lose the final assuming both teams make it. How much of an insult will the defeat be to the the victims then?

On Indian cricketers refusing to shake hands with Pakistani cricketers during yesterday's match, former Captain of the Indian Cricket Team Sourav Ganguly says, "The team did what it thought. Terrorism should not happen. Be it India, Pakistan, Russia, Ukraine, Qatar. What happened in Bangladesh should not happen. Sports is different. Not everyone plays sports and the majority of people who get killed are not sportsmen. They are normal people. So I think this should not happen."

------

Pretty clear he doesn’t support India’s stance here.
These Gambhir like Indians are actually fearful. They believe any Pakistani Cricketer can show up as terrorist.

If he sees you. He'll probably think you're a terrorist too

I know there a lot of young folks in here but I vividly remember Pakistan-India relations were not good in the 90s either but we still had good relations when it came to playing cricket and that was all at netrual venues - 1996 quarter final World Cup maybe was one exception where there was some hostility on and off the field but understandable given the circumstances.
The difference now is India is a cricket powerhouse with massive influence at the ICC that they didn’t have in the 90s and also their country have gone in a very right wing direction not just with their media institutions but also with the government and thus taken the population with them.
The likes of Yadav just represent that part of the population.

This is not going to change for a very long time so the current Pakistan players really need to be told of this aspect. Most of them probably have no idea is my educated guess.

I prefer to keep sports and politics seperate myself. But if one side doesn’t want to do this then the other should respect their wishes and just move on.

That should be the end of it.

Gautam Gambhir to team India( After 21st September match)

"Arre umpires se to hath mila lo (at least shake hands with umpires)". 🤣

:klopp :kp

India head coach Gautam Gambhir stirred controversy after India's Asia Cup Super Four win over Pakistan by instructing Indian players to greet only the umpires post-match, deliberately excluding the Pakistani team

This directive came after India won by six wickets in Dubai. Earlier, Indian player Suryakumar Yadav avoided shaking hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss, and no handshakes occurred at the game's end as key Indian players walked straight to the dressing room.

Gambhir was seen asking Indian players to greet match officials only, leaving Pakistan puzzled by the gesture. He later posted a photo of the Indian team on Instagram with the caption "Fearless." The strong performance by Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma helped secure the win. India now faces Bangladesh, potentially securing a final spot with another win, while Pakistan must fight to survive in the tournament. The Super Four final is set for September 28 in Dubai

Gambhir is a little 5'5'' man with big attitude. :inti

Poor guy, ends up facing us three times in a single tournament.

And we have chance to thrashed Pakistan thrice in a tournament.

Has anyone Humiliates a team thrice in Asia cup or ICC event's?

Plus 3-0 steaks of handshake.

:klopp :kp

I wouldn't say the most recent game was a thrashing. India's victory over Pak was in a similar fashion to Pak's victory over SL. Besides, India are heavy favourites in the final so all the pressure will be on them.

Disgusting antics from BCCI. If you really feel so strongly about playing against Pak, rightly or wrongly, what does refusing a handshake achieve? Refuse to play Pak outright. We all know India are the better side so there's nothing to prove by playing Pak.

It was thrashing. Pakistan was never in the game during indian innings. :kp

By the end of Abhishek's innings, yes, Pakistan were unlikely to win. A thrashing however, no. An example of a thrashing would be 182-0 chasing 182. according to the Oxford dictionary, a thrashing is a heavy defeat.

Final is coming...

Will there be handshakes this time???

Well IMO, they should just just make it a norm in Pak india game.... so that there is no drama

Let's give these hypocrites and drama queens hell. Treat them as the enemy they have become on a cricket field. We may lose, but they should be forced to battle for every run and wicket. Its time Agha led from the front.

Yet another India-Pakistan game and we see no handshakes.... Simple thing.. Make it a habit now... No need for Pakistan to even think about it.

I didn’t mind it in the mens but this is heartbreaking

Women getting involved in war tensions between India and Pakistan is alarming

Not sure what the great Indian writers such as Arundathi Roy would make of this!

What does that mean? Can only men get involved in war tensions?

The less we hear of her, in whatever shape, form, format, medium the more positivity in our lives and our senses. An absolute parasite/termite who took advantage of our democratic values!

What’s next?

Pakistan and India u5s match in which Babies are instructed by the Indian government to not shake hands with the Pakistan babies as a sign of standing firm with the armed forces?

Handshake or no handshake who cares? It’s all camera drama.

Real patriotism would’ve been refusing to share the same pitch with Pakistan.

India sold the blood of Pahalgam’s victims just to grab two ICC points.

Pure Indian hypocrisy on full display.

Yup.

The fact they played the game showed revenue was more important than conviction. :yk
