[VIDEOS/ PICTURES] Mohammad Nawaz - A risky pick for Pakistan's spin attack?

Easily the worst player across all squads.

Cost us the t20 game Vs India last year, and now undid all the pressure today.

Have been saying for about a year now he needs a break from the game.

Babar was bitching at him at the end, but you’re the one who keeps playing him failure after failure.

Seems like finally babar wanted to show one last time that he should never ever be selected again.. It seems he puts his fingers in butter then comes to ball specially in such situations how can someone be so stupid.. You've been hit for 4 by a tail ender in a pressure situation

Dont blame him. Blame the Captain who always chooses him to bowl in the death overs.

This is the 4th time I remember him completely choking the game away. Enough is enough with this guy

Game was done when we ran out of seamers to ball.

They would have scored the runs eventually against spinners.

I think putting the blame on Nawaz is just scapegoating at this point.

Babar kept Nawaz for last 3-4 years even though Imad deserved to be in this squad on his batting form alone. For last 4 years babar spread his cancer throughout the team and kept on selecting his buddies

Easy on the criticism.

I will bash Nawaz for poor bowling and no spin and not being able to take a wicket yet in the world cup. But what i wont blame Nawaz is the stupid captain leaving his overs in the final death slot every now and than.

First of all, if you dont trust Nawaz in the whole game, than maybe dont bother playing him. If you do want to play him, than use his overs upfront. THis has happened three times where Babar had his pants down because a spinner had an over left.

Had Babar bowled the full qouta of either Nawaz, Abrar or Ifti by teh 35th over, that would had allowed us to extend the usage of our pacers.

Agree :) lol ATleast for luck sake Babar should try someone else. His only option is firing the ball outside the leg stump targeting pads. Nothing else. Ashwin cleverly left that for wide. Even today it was a wide. But Maharaja did it better by getting inside. His only modus operandi is that. This should have been noted by team management and tried someone else. This is the problem with bit part players. They can't be match winners in either department.

At that point, everyone watching was cursing Babar for bringing Ifti and rightly so, when Shaheen-Rauf/Wasim were needed.

In the end, Usama was the only other realistic option and he'd taken wickets. But seriously, if Maharaj smashed Usama for a boundary, many would have said he was thrown to the slaughter.

The game should have been won earlier. And SA gave Pak plenty of opportunities to do so.

I agree that Babar should have managed his bowlers better, but Nawaz has shown time and time again that he is incapable of bowling in the death with the game on the line and hasn't improved at it one bit. Is it a big ask for him to bowl to his field, not bowl full tosses or wides? That's not on Babar that's all Nawaz. One time is hard luck, twice is a sign, but 4 times is just plain evidence this guy does not have it

Babar preferred his friend over Imad. Huge crime!
Imagine Imad batting and bowling in the end. The result in my mind would've been different.

Haha isn't this the guy who choked against us by bowling a wide against Ashwin at the crunch?

Every single ball he bowls to right hander is a wide when he wants to bowl defensively. He just got away with one wide. Batsmen made error by giving room and getting hit on the pad. Only Maharaja and Ashwin got inside of the line. Ashwin left it. Maharaj slapped it. That is how you should play him. Pretend to give room. He will dart outside the leg stump. That is his only ball.

Nawaz hasn't taken a single wicket this whole cup, he didnt even take one in Asia cup post Nepal.

So why bring him on to take the last wicket? Nonsense strategy. Usama mir is risky but he's the only option babar had left?

Nawaz should have been bowled out earlier. Babar always leaves it to his bestie to choke when it matters most. And he never disappoints.

Fair point. Nawaz's overall bowling performance was extremely poor in this WC as he didn't took wickets, he doesn't have variations in bowling. But blaming Nawaz for today's loss is grossly unfair as it was hit or miss situation. It was only a matter of one shot and it was very difficult to defend 4 runs as too many balls were left. The blame goes to ridiculous batting and 21 extras given by bowlers. Some posters are expecting 50-60 runs from Nawaz the batter when all main batsman are failing

I mean this has got to be Nawaz's peak right. Choke against the Master chokers.

Pure Poetry

Haha! And every time that happens the commentator should shout: "IT'S A WIDE NAWAZ WHAT HAVE YOU DONE NAWAZ".

No, what babar did is right. Its risky but the game is a wicket taking game. He had no choice and we would have won if the umpire ruled in our favour, so once the pacers were done, it was game over.

But why bowl nawaz? Usama has taken wickets and yes he's bowled full tosses but he's the only option you have?

Why on earth are you asking nawaz you're spinner who's on a wicketless drought to take the last wicket? Damag theik hai captain ka?

Babar's mistake was bowling Rauf too much at the start. No point. The script was clear. Rauf was bound to be the key figure at death.

100% agree, but tbf they were desperate to get makram out.

Rachin Ravindra is considered part time. Rachin bowling is way better than Nawaz's. But look at his batting skills. Top skills. He will be directly rejected by almost all the top sides. Don't think he will even walk into West Indies team as Akeil hosein is way better

The only right decision he has taken this entire tournament and by that I mean bowling out the pacers and not giving Nawaz the last over.

Also Babar was adamant about giving the ball to Nawaz. Before the last over Iftikhar was standing behind the batsmen signaling to someone (I presume Rizwan) that he could bowl. Babar and others were discussing, Babar was shaking his head, not looking happy and telling them off and he emphatically signaled to someone (Nawaz) to come and bowl. It was his decision and I think against advice which is why he was shouting at Nawaz at the end.

Not that it would have made a difference, they would have probably made it whichever spinner was given the ball.

It wouldn't have made a difference I agree. Usama is risky especially with his full toss nonsense but he's taken wickets In this game and got a crucial albeit lucky wicket of klaseen.

Why wouldn't you give him the over to take the last wicket, instead of nawaz who is on a wicket drought?

The only way a bowler with Nawaz’s skills can play at international level is if he is good enough to bat at 6 which he is clearly not. With Babar losing the captaincy I think his days are numbered. We will soon see the likes of Imad and Qasim (and i am hoping Arafat who I think is a very fine prospect) replacing him.

Because Babar and Nawaz have a long history of playing together and therefore Babar trusts him more than Mir.

Like he trusted nawaz > hafeez's suggestion to include abrar instead?

Brother nawaz is a freeloader. He ruined us against India, Ruined us here. The day he takes a wicket is the day satan cries.

Most useless bowler I've ever seen, This trust trust nonsense has killed our cricket

Didn‘t say it was the right decision was just giving my opinion on your question of why he gave him the ball.

Babar trusts nawaz because their friends.

Cricket needs to be viewed as a business, not a friends club.

In a business you have competitors, you try to outbeat your competitors, you work together as a unit and function as a unit with your ceo and cto and cfo being the coach, captain and selector.

In business selecting friends is a conflict of interest and doesn't end well.

Pakistan cricket is more like a Nokia or atari story whereas Indian cricket is like the inspirational story of Apple or Sony 😂😂, one keeps innovating the other is too lazy to catch up.

ideally yes, but happens everywhere. In each and every walk of life. Be it the corporate world or sports or any other field people tend to favor and trust people they know. It’s human nature.

He took 1 wicket each against Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

Stat of the day: Pakistan won 100% in this WC in which Nawaz took a wicket.

You still have doubts over Nawaz the match winner.

Every great success story has started through networking. The whole a single man started an idea and levelled up is nonsense.

What happens is, that's its always a team if buddies who trust and support each other and a collection of ideas. They work and achieve a goal but one of them from the group ends up becoming the face of the business and ends up either being the most succesful whereas everyone else who was a part of the work don't get acknowledged or he ends up being the biggest failure and the problem for all hate.

In order to remain a success story the one who came forward must ensure the right steps are taken and HR skills are employed

Babar is no different. He's a success story who came into an established set up but became the face of it and now he's also the brunt of all attacks after failures.

All success stories may start with friends and a team of buddies but eventually the one who becomes the face needs to make the hard choice aka select the best and discard the rest to keep the ship sailing, even if it means discarding the one who was their from the start.

Steve jobs had to do that to Steve wozniack and Mark Zuckerberg had to do that to eduvardo because the person Mark found wasn't his friend but he was better and sailing the ship.

Has babar done that? Has babar who started with his friends made the hard choice to discard the vices that have stopped the ship? Or has he still lived in the past wondering the buddies who started with him are the only ones that can keep him going?

Leaders make hard choices. Babar can't plain and simple.

Bro he's so useless, you don't even remember when he took wickets 😂😂. What a spinner we have

Not sure what the guy's purpose is? Has no intensity in anything he does, just seems to rock up and go through the motions without actually doing anything useful.

However just to add yeah he flopped and has flopped in the past too but we need to ensure that he isn't used as the only scapegoat.

The whole world cup has been a failure. Yes Nawaz is sadly useless BUT he's not the main reason we are out of this cup.

Lol at him going through the motions. More like he stands stagnant lol

the biggest scapegoat is babar followed by rizzu, plain and simple.

I have no hate, but now even God is bringing his wraith down upon bobby

You've got to also question the people who have kept on picking him again and again despite his limitations.

You have to ask why.

Delve deeper and the answers are there.

To be honest Imad should have been made captain in 2020. I've always maintained he's mentally stronger than any current player.

It's not about ability. He has no cricketing sense and seems mentally weak. Yesterday or against India he has played some stupid shots when he just needed to stay on thd pitch to ensure playing 50 overs. And his bowling has been so bad.

Aamir Sohail was livid with Nawaz blaming him for playing an irresponsible shot when Pakistan needed him to play out the full 50 overs. Sohail commented that Nawaz is an ordinary bowler and a club level cricketer and the person who selected him should be the first person to resign.

Imad Wasim maybe a limited cricketer but such a mentally strong player. In 2019 WC, he took the game till the end against Afghanistan and won the match. This is called self belief whereas Nawaz is a mental midget who gave up against Australia considering they were 3 overs behind in term of over rate and yesterday innings as well.

He should never for Pakistan again

Nawaz is really an ordinary bowler. Even Amir Sohail was a better left after spinner than him who used to break partnerships at crucial moments. Yesterday also usama was a better option to go for that last wicket than nawaz who don't have the capability to take wickets purely with his bowling skills.

Could someone please tell me what was the point of Nawaz?

Not sure about this format of World Cup! but certainly, yes it would be the last ODI world cup for Mohammad Nawaz for sure.
