[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Winnipeg Hawks win Global T20 Canada 2019

Winnipeg team looks quite ordinary on paper. Only Umar Akmal, Dwayne Smith, and Dwayne Bravo are significant players.

It seems like Toronto has some decent ground shahid makes sense by the way are you watching the game now

Toronto has these grounds:

1) Flemingdon Park (worst ground possibly).
2) Eglinton Flats - East.
3) Eglinton Flats - West.
4) Sunnybrook Park - North.
5) Sunnybrook Park - East.
6) Sunnybrook Park - West.
7) King City (proper international ground).
8) Norfinch (garbage ground).

Sunnybrook and King City are the only proper ones. Rest are junk grounds.

I am following on Cricinfo. Not watching.

Okay I see

Umar Akmal looks fitter than before as all his chest, abdomen and bottom look much bigger than the last time I saw him. Must be all muscle which he probably added by drinking water. It is called water muscle!

Montreal tiger win :) despite looking like the worst team on paper they beat Winnipeg who isn't amazing but on paper do look better than Montreal team

Toronto nationals will play Edmonton roylas that should be a good game today nationals having some big names in their squad like Yuvraj - Mccullum- Boult and Nepali spin bowler Sandeep Lamichhane

Edmonton got strong international starts too in Williamson - Faf du Plessis - Jimmy Neesham- Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz

I predict Edmonton will win the game although who ever bats first I think will win but I'll say Edmonton to win

Than later on today we have Montreal tigers vs Brampton wolves who will play their debut game today that should be a fun game too, despite Montreal being the the weakest team in this tournament ( thier squad based on paper) I feel they might just win today

Montreal star players are Sunil Narine thisara perera Isuru Udana and Kyle Coetzer

Brampton star studded international with Darren Sammy , Shakib Al Hasan , Colin Munro , Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz , Lendl Simmons and Canadian internationals talents in abarash khan and nitish Kuman

Edmonton royals 75-3 Hafeez gone for 17 off 16 balls got out the same way he did during the World Cup. Spinner green took his wicket . It's also worthwhile to mention that Hafeez was dropped on 1

so Shakib-ul Hsssan missed Bangladesh ODI games to play in this league?

There are big stadiums for other sports but no real stadium for cricket.

Cricket is actually not even among top 5 sports in Canada. A taxi driver can probably earn more money than a cricketer in Canada.

I'd assume Cricket isn't among the top 5 sports in any of the South, Central or North American countries. Don't see why Canada would be any different so it's not a surprise.

Yuvi on 29 smacked Shadab a couple of times crowd was making a lot of noise when Shadab was bowling to Yuvraj lol

Umar Akmal 49 (30).

Are you kidding me Toronto national win despite being 100-5 at one point with 2 wickets left the managed to beat Edmonton royals who made a great total what a game of cricket

Two of his wild hoicks resulted in dropped catches as well, on 12 and 35. Absolute dollies.

Very easy chances. These are probably local Canadian players.

Brampton demolish Montreal

Chased down the total and made 102 runs in 6.4 overs with no wickets lost

Shadab Khan 36 (17) and 2/42.

Wahab Riaz 1/32 in 4 overs
Shahid Afridi 1/14 in 4 overs

Brampton Wolves won by 10 wkts - so a good start for both Wahab and Shahid Afridi

Lol no they don’t not where I live they absolutely do not Canada is the most multicultural country I don’t know if you saw the 6buzz video where the cops were playing cricket with the guys that was me and my boys playing cricket at night lol. But what I mean to say this league is a massive flop a country like Canada doesn’t deserve this league lol

LMAOO do you also read the 6buzz comments ? People can't be racist in a multicultural country, clearly everyone dislike South Asians. Punjabi Especially but south asians as whole as well.

I used to play in TDCA. I would call Toronto grounds absolute garbage (not all but most). Grounds like Norfinch and Flemingdon were horrendous.

Mavis ground is brilliant. I also like Artesian ground.

Mississauga and Brampton have better grounds (in my opinion).

Artesian ? the one by Winston Churchill ? lol I hate that. Nothing is worse than Kingcity. I never plaid in any of those grounds. I hate grounds that aren't even, can't believe how many time I messed my ankle up due to uneven surface.

I was referring to Mississauga's Artesian ground.

I have played in FairTree, Sunnybrook, Eglinton Flats, Mavis, Artesian, Flemingdon, Norfinch, Humber, and McCowan. I have always enjoyed Sunnybrook the most.

I never played in King City as that's the ground where elite/premier division players play. I was in 4th division.

Vancouver Knights vs Winnipeg Hawks, 5th Match, Round 1

Winnipeg Hawks won the toss and opt to bowl

VCK 39/0 (4.1) CRR: 9.36
Winnipeg Hawks opt to bowl

Malik v Umar Akmal

Ordinary innings from Malik of 28* off 25 balls.

Umar Akmal doing what Umar Akmal does. A few wild slogs then out for 9 off 5 balls.

Seems like batting second is the way too go I am thinking as sweep shot poster mentioned it's due to the small boundaries regardless good effort by Winnipeg to win the Macth

Vancouver 208/5
Winnipeg 210/3 chased in 15.2 overs

JP Duminy 77 runs off 38 balls

Afridi batting well. Some lovely shots including a six over long off from Shadab's bowling.

50 off 23 for Afridi. Rolling back the years :)

Very sensible innings by Afridi! Why could not he do this throughout his international career?

So here we have Afridi, who has been able to lose weight at his age and on the other end, we have Umar Akmal who is simply refusing to do anything about his bulky figure.

What is the point of this league? How can such a league that has nearly 0% local interest be able to buy players? How does this work financially? :s

As we can see Hafeez is struggling in this type of league and boundaries are small to clear sign he no longer has it need to retire

Sponsors allow the league to buy these big names.

Also, it is not true that it doesn't have interest. There is a high number of people from subcontinent and Caribbean in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) region. These people love cricket.

Shahid Afridi 81* (40)

So afridi still had some fires left in his belly.. Thought he retires from all form of the cricket..

any news on the Umar Akmal fans???:yk:yk
may be they are hiding in some corner... Third class player will always be third class, even playing in some unknown league..

I went to 4 of the matches this past weekend. It was an incredible experience, super thankful for this tournament for allowing me to see quality cricket as a fan in the USA. I was able to meet a bunch of cricketers and get their autographs. Even got a selfie with lala!

Yeah man my first time ever watching a cricket game and I feel extremely lucky as I got to see afridi score 81 off 40 balls which is a rarity and I consider myself extremely lucky cause of that. I literally live a 5 min drive away from the ground but unfortunately I didn’t get to meet any players or take any selfies.

they should have had the regular stands all around the ground... the current setup makes it seem like no one is there.
