[VIDEOS] Rameez Ijaz : Young leg-spinner from Sanghar

Rameez Ijaz is a 16 year old Legspinner from Hyderabad. He has all the deliveries a leggie needs and his googly is special. He was called to NCA and impressed all the coaches and even bowled Ahmed Shehzad out with a googly.

Now as you know the PCB is holding an under 16 tournament and surprisingly this kid has been overlooked. Out of a squad of 16 sindh has selected 13 from karachi. No wristspinner or off spinner has been selected and the selector was Wajahatullah Wasti.

This lad has been appreciated by Sandeep Lamichane and Rambo...

He was called to NCA last October. Lamichane replied to his video on a tweet: "he is amazing. Such a serious talent"

Rambo also tweeted: think the kids got s future. Look how his right leg makes a circular motion. That helps him spin the ball"

To be honest he looks decent and can turn the ball, though maybe lacks a little bit of control. However at this stage I really don’t expect control so potential is there. Did he not do so well at the U16 trials? I guess should cut his age by a year and try again next year

Tbf, he is pretty easy to read. The googly has a flatter trajectory and very easy to discern.

Yes that's correct. Muhammad Zahid promised to call him in the under 19 camp but is now stuck in ...the videos are a year old and i believe he's developing nicely..he just had a setback by not being selected for sindh under 16's

He will have another opportunity at the U-19 level. A little disappointing that they didn’t even pick a single wristspinner when someone like him looks quite decent.

These young spinners need to relentlessly focus on their stock ball, not worry about bowling six different balls an over. So it's good to see him spinning that legbreak.

He needs plenty of red ball cricket in his development stage and not get sucked down the T20 route becoming another Imad Wasim type darter that are dime a dozen in Pak domestics.

Apparently, U16 cricket this year will largely consist of one-day cricket which is a bit of a shame.

As far as his leg break goes, it's good to see him spinning it but it remains to be seen how he develops his control and intelligence - that's the most important thing for a leggie, in addition to having a big heart.
