Rashid Khan in his video:

"AoA everyone - I am super excited to be playing for the first time in PSL and playing for Lahore Qalandars, and hopefully we will have some great memories, so see you soon Inshallah - Men hoon Qalandar, dil se"

Match winner.

Lahore have a strong bowling attack which should bail them out in matches when there weak batting is exposed.

Not sure why people discount his batting, he is pretty good ball striker as well. LQ finally made a one good decision

When he lived in Peshawar as a 20 year old, he was known as a batsman. Back then he was 'senior' to Adil Amin, who btw is around 33 on Cricinfo.

Yeah I guess he will have no choice to be retiring by the age of 30 odd when he just becomes useless as a player by then

So are you claiming he's fudged his age by ~15 years?

Incredible stuff.

Nawroz Mangal and Hamid Hassan retired in their early 30s, which is unusual for Asian cricketers. Pretty sure their actual ages are bigger than their paper ages.

Rashid will be very successful in PSL. Just as he has been in every league in the world.

LQ Bowling Attack:

Shaheen Shah Afridi
Haris Rauf
Rashid Khan
Dilbar Hussain/other pacer.

Haris and Dilbar are probably the weakest links. Overall, they have a pretty strong bowling lineup.

Their batting is something to be concerned with. Fakhar has to fire if they want to do well.

Best bowling line up in the tournament

Shaheen
Rauf
dilbar
Rashid
Patel
David wiese

Can someone pull up the thread where Afridi says IPL doesn’t allow star players to play PSL!!

He's bound to do well and win them a few matches on his own as he's no mug with the bat either.

The problem LQ has though is that whilst they have a strong bowling attack, their batting unit isn't earth shattering.

i think they can win games just based on the bowling

I expect them to get to semi final

I hope captincy is given to fakhar or hafeez for me sohail akhtar doesnt warrant a spot in the team

Rashid named in Afghanistan Test squad, with first Test starting 2nd and second on 10th - guess will go and comeback?

===

Afghanistan have named a 19-man squad for their two-Test series against Zimbabwe, starting 2 March in the UAE.

The squad will be led by Asghar Afghan, who was reappointed as the captain after Rashid Khan.

Afghanistan last played a Test in November 2019, an one-off encounter against West Indies, which they lost by nine wickets.

The squad features a host of new faces with Abdul Malik, Munir Ahmad Kakar, Shahidullah Kamal, Bahir Shah Mohboob, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Saleem Safi and Zia Ur Rahman Akbar all without a Test cap to their names.

Sayed Ahmad Shirzad also has no Test experience but the medium pacer has featured in two ODIs and four T20Is since his debut in early 2019.

Hashmatullah Shahidi, who was not a part of the side that tackled West Indies, finds his way back in the squad.

Two names missing from the Test side are Zahir Khan and Ihsanullah with the former being named as a reserve along with Abdul Wasi Noori. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Afghanistan's third-ranked T20I bowler, finds no place in the squad once again despite having played one Test.

The two-match Test series begins on 2 March in Abu Dhabi, the second match will start on 10 March. Zimbabwe have already named their squad for the series.

Squad: Asghar Afghan (c), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Javed Ahmadi, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afsar Zazai, Nasir Jamal, Abdul Malik, Munir Ahmad Kakar, Shahidullah Kamal, Bahir Shah Mohboob, Rashid Khan, Amir Hamza, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad, Saleem Safi, Wafadar Momand, Zia Ur Rahman Akbar, Yamin Ahmadzai

No wickets in his 3 overs but just 10 runs so not that bad

14 runs from 4 excellent overs.

All 14 were singles.

It's a shame he isn't here for a long time. He is a top class T20 bowler and would lift the quality of the PSL if he played the full tournament.

Doing the job with the bat too after doing it with the ball

Emphatic 6 to round off a brilliant all-round performance from Rashid Khan in his PSL debut:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/zf9fql" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Seems to have injured his finger (on his bowling hand) quite badly in the field

Wow, Rashid Khan knocks the dangerman Chris Gayle's middle stump out the ground!

Replay of the wicket:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/56e4n5" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

What a talented Afghan he is. Adds lot of Character to World Cricket.

Rashid Khan will sit out of the match with a finger injury - so not playing for his side either.

It seems that Rashid is on his way for the Abu Dhabi leg.

Lahore Qalandars have picked Rashid Khan to replace Shakib Al Hasan

The very best Rashid - Lahore lucky to have him on their side

Such a high quality white ball bowler! He would make Pakistan win the T20 World Cup and dominate in this format if he was Pakistani! On par with pre ban Ajmal the T20 bowler!

Seems like he will take a wicket on each ball!

3/17 so far in 2.4 overs

He is an outstanding cricketer. He has single-handedly destroyed any chance of victory for Peshawar today, he's ripped them apart.

Biggest regret for Pakistan, how did they let this gem of a player slip from them?

Wherever he has played he has performed.

Can't argue with that, just admire his ability and consistency,.

Class act.

Rashid Khan in his first PSL campaign:

Matches - 8
Wickets - 11
Average - 15.9
Economy - 5.46 (Best in the tournament from bowlers with more than 4 overs)

He must be thinking, what the hell just happened.

Couldn't have done much more than he did.

Perhaps take more wickets.

Was the opposite kind of bowler to Dahani, who was expensive but could be relied upon to take crucial wickets.

Perhaps he’s bowling defensively.

Batsmen rarely took risks against him which limited his opportunities to take wickets. Economy rate was incredible and he was let down by team-mates.

There’s always the option of attacking more as a bowler, bringing the field up.

Just my personal opinion but I don’t buy this economy rate only thing, though that’s important. And Rashid is not just good, he’s the best limited overs spinner in the world so needs to be held to a high standard.

He had Faulkner who was brilliant and Shaheen who wasn’t too bad from the other end too. So it’s not like teams could have played out 12 overs against LQ.

Performed as per everyone's expectations. Was just unfortunate to be in a disjointed mess of a dressing room.

He has that magical spark to turn around a match with either the ball, bat or in the field in a blink of an eye.
Afghani players should feel very comfortable and lively with him around.

Whatever the field when Rashid is playing, opponents rarely attack him.

When you have Daniyal and Raud in the attack, that's 8 overs of gifts and around 100 runs.

Fair enough.

But the difference between someone like Imad and Rashid should be his wicket taking ability. As the best bowler in the world and arguably the most valuable T20 league player, he has to do more than contain runs, regardless of what the opposition decide.

Rashid happy to re-join LQ

Brilliant spell from Rashid today against Quetta - 1/13 in 4 overs. One of the most reliable bowlers in the world.

Saturday's match against Islamabad United will be Rashid Khan's last in this year's Pakistan Super League

Rashid Khan finishes with 4-0-19-2 in his last game for Lahore, 13 wickets in all through the season.

Wickets today:

Hope LQ does not miss him a lot in the later stages and the remaining bowlers do their job to win the tournament. Rashid, Shaheen, Fakhar and Rauf have a very strong bond as players (and pathans as well) and if all of them retain their platinum category next year, it'll be a headache for LQ management to decide which player to release.

Release Rauf and hope you get the first pick in auction :)

Yeah, that's a fairly easy decision to make. Rashid Khan is easily the best legspinner in the world in this format, Shaheen is the captain and delivers more wickets up front than possibly any bowler in this format and Fakhar is the most destructive top order batsman in the country. Rauf is good, but his skillset (though not necessarily his pace) is the most easily replaced

Definitely you can always keep Akif just in case they don't get Rauf azwell.

Rauf is LQ's PDP product and involved in LQ's player exchange programs with BBL and county teams. So I highly doubt that they will release Rauf.

There are journalists reporting he is coming!

LQ almost pulled it off, The final stumbling block was the fact that Rashid only has one time entry visa into Bangladesh, if he had left Bangladesh temporarily and returned he would have had to reapply for a visa again which was to big a hassle to deal with.

Former Pakistan bowler and Lahore Qalandars head coach declared Rashid Khan as the pillar of Lahore Qalandars while speaking to local media:

"Rashid is such a player that if I have the choice to select one player in the world, it will always be Rashid Khan. There is no team in the world where he is included and there is no difference. It's a fact."
