Was contemplating making a thread.
I was looking through all the scorecards of the Pakistan domestic matches, and looking at wicket-keepers especially. He definitely seems like the best one.
 
So in 1 match he scored half the centuries that :adnan got in +100 FC matches, don't know about his WK skills obviously, but looks exciting (considering what we've gone through recently).

Well he is playing in Regional tournament so take those achievements with a pinch of salt !

keepers are judged on their keeping, not batting
 
Good start to him but Rizwan is higher in the pecking order atm.

yup but note that he scored 36% of total runs of his team in both innings. . hope he continues with his performance at every level

Let me rephrase that - he was playing Pak domestic cricket at any level and so take those achievements with a pinch of salt.
 
Atleast he didn't give any byes away. Thats the only indicator we can get regarding his keeping from a scorecard. :jf

Yeah but keeping should come first. A keeper who holds all catches and doesnt miss stumping and scores 30 odd is better than the one who drops 1-2 vital catches/miss stumping and scores a ton
 
He Needs To Play 50's & 100's Vs Good Bowling Line Ups & Then We Can Think About It
 
Need a keeper who can keep. Can't afford to drop the AB devilliers , smiths , Kallis , tendulkars, dhonis, sangakaras, jaywardenes twice in a match and expect to win. These guys will punish you. Need a keeper .thats why we are at the bottom of the team rankings . Many a match had been lost by our keeper

Absolutely. I m not even in favor of Umar Akmal in T20s/ODIs. He will do than what he did in the tied game against WI. A specialist keeper who doesnt drop catches and scores single digits is ok

then thank god your not a selector. Catches win matches.. The last thing you want is opposition to score runs. Dropping catches and scoring runs won't help.

Gilchrist, dhoni and other batsmen keeper were not persiissted just because they could bat, but they were also very good behind the wickets aswell.

In a perfect world you'd go with the keeper that doesn't drop, but seeing as Adnan can't keep or bat you might as well go with one who can bat.

Having said that I'm with that i'm with the poster above.

A keeper who averages 10 but can keep is much preferred over one who can bat and makes a horrible keeper.

Immense strike rate for an FC. Need to keep an eye on this one.
 
Even best WK drop catches.

If this guy can score @ 30 consistently and is safe as WK , try him.
 
So he remained at 104 not out when all his team-mates where falling... and at a healthy SR of +75 in +180 minutes with such 4s, means that he isn't strokeless and knows the value of rotating the strike. :shm

Also, he has three 100s but no 50. Good conversion rate, means that when he's set he aims for a ton, and don't think that his job's done after a half century.

I hope he keeps delivering and we get rid off the Akmal curse. :kami :adnan

And have a look at that conversion rate-3 hundreds and 0 fifties!
 
As for now he leads the QeA trophy with the runs : 370 in 2 matches @ SR 75.
Second is Fazal Subhan with 280 odd-runs.

Even :gul and I think :ahmed are Afridis.

Josh Malihabadi, the famous Urdu poet rated as second only to Allama Iqbal in the last century, was also an Afridi, and so was Dr. Zakir Hussain (both originally from the Tirah valley), 3rd President of India (which makes Bollywood star Aamir Khan an Afridi on his paternal side too.)
There's also Sher Ali Afridi, freedom fighter who killed the Viceroy of India in 1872 and was sentenced to death (he too, like a lot of Afridis, was from the Tirah Valley in the now Khyber Agency of FATA in Pakistan.)

So yes, quite influential despite the tiny numbers (as per Wiki, 50 000 in Pakistan and 10 000 in Afghanistan.)

Lol, yes. a very gifted tribe. we have almost 7 Afridis in Pakistan's national assembly ironically the law they make there isn't applicable om them Tribal areas :p :afridi
 
Regional cricket....that is all...Let him play from department and against department.
 
Wicket Keeper - Rehan Afridi

Rehan Afridi scored 3 FC 100s in this season already.

21 year old wicket keeper could be someone selectors should look for the future. his 3 100s came in quick time as well. He is curently the leading run scorer with 478 runs in 4 matches. too early to say anything but we dont have much talent when it comes to wicket keepers who can bat.
 
Has started off really well in FC cricket. Has decent average with good SR.

Got hit on his forehead while keeping against the Rams. Was bleeding as well. Hope he recovers quickly.
 
His keeping was pretty good. made some amazing diving stops to his right off fast bowling trundlers. reminiscent of mid 90's Rashid Latif.
That injury looked horrible. hope he is ok.
 
He's scores well too 80* of 48 With 9 fours and 3 sixes @166.00 maybe he's another Afridi but actually has a brain
 
Good to know that the injury wasn't anything as bad as Boucher's.. that's the first thing that came to my mind.
 
Rehan Afridi started the season with 157 not out. This time he is playing for PTV, exciting prospect. not sure about his wicket keeping abilities though.
 
Young talent should be given more opportunities in a bid to revive the Pakistan cricket that is struggling big time in International arena. And with some emerging player and this guy being one carrying potential to help us surmount our wicket keep woes, hope he thrives.
 
Rizwan, Bismillah, saifullah and rehan afridi are 4 top wicket keepers in pakistan and only two are in pentangular cup.

He will play one day for pakistan inshaAllah .
He is the best batting wise keeper in pakistan . I rate his batting higher then Rizwan .
For me top 3 wicket keeper batsman in pakistan are
Sarfraz
Rizwan
Rehan afridi
At number 4 , I will put adnan akmal .
No need to drop adnan akmal from A team . He is fresh from a fifty against srilanka domestic team . I rate adnan' keeping skills better then sarfraz and Rizwan .

why isnt rehan afridi selected for emerging camp while saifullah, bismillah and hassan have been selected
 
Only saifullah n Rehan have the potential to break into pakistan team as a wicket keeper batsman. Hassan and Bismillah aren't impressive batsman at all . Bismillah's keeping also not upto mark . Having said that sarfraz n Rizwan's keeping is also very poor these days . Both have high ratio of dropped chances and stumping chances lapses . Sarfraz's batting is breath of fresh air. Impact player as a batsman.
 
Rehan n saifullah should be regularly called to NCA . Rehan deserves to be selected on next A tour . MUST

He plays for Fata team . Let's see if this year he gets into Peshawar or Abbotabad team or not ?
Suppose he plays for FATA in qualifying round than if FATA qualifies for national T20 tournament to be played two days after qualifying round than if he performs well in National T20 cup than he will be in contention for PSL otherwise not .

Good news you broke .
His talent is apparent to me . While playing for his regional team when he made FC debut that season he made 3 centuries in his first 5 FC matches as a wicketkeeper batsman where for other team mates to score a fifty was a difficult task .

If this guy works harder and stays down to earth he will play for pakistan within next 3 years . Provided he stays grounded and works even harder.

I rate him among top 3,4 Pakhtoon players of our domestic cricket . With others being taj wali , imran khan (swat) and kamran ghulam .

Now he should make sure that this season he scores atleast 3 tons . He has got ability , potential and talent to do that . And he should also finish as best wicketkeeper with most dismissals .

I hope haroon has an eye on him and gives him a chance in pakistan A side.

He was a genuine allrounder at under-19 level and a big hitter aswell . He won us many matches by his late order hitting . In bowling he was a container and occasional wicket taker .

Then he had a very good FC season with the ball where he was seen turning the ball and as a wicket taker but hua batting worsened don't know why .
His drawbacks as a bowler I saw was that he is short in height so won't get much bounce and he fails to ball closer to the wicket with his his action and runup . Doesn't use the crease and angles . But he was good in last FC season .

Than in the two three T20 tournaments I have seen him bowl and bat he did not impress me .

Last time he got selected for Pakistan A got only 2,3 matches in srilanka but failed to impress in even one match with bowl or bat .

When he was playing for pakistan U-19 I believed this kid will play for pakistan within next 3,4 years maximum . But now I don't know whether it's a form issue ? Whether it's a temperament issue ? Or whether he has regressed with time .

Currently if you ask me which young or old left arm spinner you want to see in pakistan Test , Odi or T20 side ? Than I will have zero confusion in my mind and I ll take one name

Has anyone seen him,
what about his technique?
what about his fitness?

his he a one for the future?
 
He has got very good fitness.

Technique is very good and so is the temperament.

He can be termed as the best batting potential from KPK + FATA and the best wicket keeper batsman in pakistan after sarfraz and Rizwan.

I hope he scores alot this season and makes Pakistan A squad ahead of Adnan Akmal.

How would you rate Saifullah Bangash. Batting wise he has same potential as Rehan Afridi I am slightly inclined towards him because he bats with a good SR of 76 seems like a dynamic player like Sarfaraz.
 
Currently best wicket keeper in our domestic, also he is a very good batsman. Sooner IA we will see him with A Team. But he need to score in this season, otherwise we may see Adnan Akmal again and again.
