[VIDEOS] Sargodha win the Lahore Qalandars 2017 Rising Stars tournament

Bilal Malik is obviously copying Cornwall's diet. He's huge. I don't care how hard he hits it, it's ridiculous he is playing. Completely the wrong message.

Burger King playing some lovely shots.

This farzan guy looks impressive all-rounder took 5 wickets while bowling and also scored runs and finishing the match in style

Rising Stars that impressed in First season :

Batsmen.. Zeeshan Malik, Rafay, Tabrayz, Sikandar and Sargodha's Top-6.

I was impressed most by Tabrayz.

Bowlers .. Ehtisham Sultan and Irfan ( ? Irfan Elahi) . And a thin lean Left arm Pacer from Fsd, iirc Mudassir.

Was getting good bounce on a dead pitch. Did you manage to see Haris Rauf?

Yeah, bowled a good opening spell with Zahid who's added 20 pounds lol. I guess that's what happens when you're neglected so much. Haris definitely has pace but obviously needs work. A good start would be to stop holding the hands together when running in. Currently he's just transferring energy from one side to another making the body sway sideways instead of propelling himself forward.

Ameer's got everything man. Reminds me of Bashir but a controlled version.

I know how much you rate Bashir, so for you to say that is high praise indeed.

Did you see Ameer's diving catch? Great effort from him. Plus it looked he was pretty tall too, so definitely one to keep an eye on. It will be interesting to have his speed measured- these cameras make it very difficult to guesstimate.

You are right about Haris- he has alignment issues. For the whole of his run up, his right shoulder is swaying into his body. It's so obvious I am amazed no-one has told him already.

Yes, he's an athlete. You can tell just from the first moment you see him move. I didn't see the catch. I skipped through the match because the 2nd match was laggy. Looks about 6'3 to me and is jacked.

I liked his aggression when he was bowling too- wasn't afraid to give the batsmen a stare down.

He was definitely the tallest on the field.

So far, it's mainly bowlers who seem to have impressed. I really hope a few of the batsmen are also able to make an impression.

Any players who stood out for you Abdullah719?

TBH I didn't get the time to watch much of it, not even from the highlights... However I was looking out for Zeeshan Malik, I thought he was looking pretty good until he got run out. Played a couple of nice shots. Hopefully he can play a longer innings in the next couple of games.

Lahore Qalandars – Jazz Rising Stars T20 Cup Day 1

Muzaffarabad, 26th September 2017: The festivity of Cricket officially landed in Azad Kashmir on Tuesday with the eight-team tournament in second phase of Jazz Rising Stars program being formally kicked off in Muzaffarabad.

Azad Kashmir’s Prime Minister Raja Farooq Khan joined the party with renowned TV anchorperson Hamid Mir, Chairman Lahore Qalandars Rana Fawad and Director Cricket Lahore Qalandars Aqib Javed at the opening of tournament.

The tournament started with a festival double-wicket tournament which witnessed AJK PM showcasing his cricketing skills, wearing Lahore Qalandars’ jersey.

The first match of tournament was played between the hosts Muzaffarabad and Rawalpindi, in which the visitors registered a win by six wickets.

Batting first, Muzaffarabad were bowled out with 118 runs on board in 19.1 overs as Kamran Ghulam took three crucial wickets for Rawalpindi.

Muzaffarabad Rising Stars’ captain Muhammad Mubashir was the top scorer for the team with run-a-ball 34. Muhammad Irfan scored 15.
In reply, Rawalpindi Rising Stars reached the target with six wickets and five overs to go. Sajawal Riaz, the subsequent man-of-the-match, stroked seven boundaries for an unbeaten 57 off 46 deliveries.

In second match of the opening day, Sargodha Rising Stars defeated Gujranwala Rising Stars by 7 wickets.
Gujranwala was bowled out for123 runs in 19.5 overs after it decided to bat first.

Haseeb ur Rehman scored 22, Imran Dogar scored 15, and Zeeshan Farooq scored 12 runs to help Gujranwala post a respectable total. Sargodha’s leg-break bowler Farzan Raja played an important role in restricting Gujranwala’s batting by taking five wickets for 21 runs in his allocated four overs.

Chasing the target, Sargodha lost three wickets with 56 runs on board, but then Atiq ur Rehman and Farzan Raja took the charge and finished the match for the team with ten balls remaining.

Ateeq scored an unbeaten 40 off 30 balls while Farzan Raja smashed two sixes and one boundary for his 21 ball 29.
On Wednesday, Muzaffarabad Rising Stars take on Sargodha Rising Stars & Gujranwala Rising Stars compete against Rawalpindi Rising Stars.

Just saw a little bit of the 3rd game I think and the left handed batsman Malik Aswad was looking really good.

I was hoping for the same, and he certainly delivered today.

So happy to see him continuing his good form from IU's tournament and putting in consistent performances. The only thing I am not sure about is the fact he is playing this tournament ahead of playing for Rawalpindi in the QeA.

Obviously he is trying to improve his chances of getting picked up in the PSL which is a good move, but to be honest I think he already did that through IU's tournament and from memory he was one of the top scorers in last year's edition of this Rising Stars tournament. Playing some FC cricket would be a good for his development.

By contrast, it looks as though Hasan Raza (the one from Kashmir) has chosen to play for KRL in the QeA rather than play in this tournament- only time will tell who made the right call.

It's a shame LQ are not uploading the scorecards themselves on twitter as PTV always make mistakes. For example according to this scorecard Haris Rauf bowled for both sides. :))

Geo Super is broadcasting, but I know what you mean.

My apologies, I have unfairly slandered PTV. :))

IU were very good at uploading the scorecards from their Twin City Takra on twitter and it's a shame LQ aren't doing the same.

I like how Ameer Hamza the bowler became Mir Hamza the batsman in this scorecard. :yk2

Wait...

Isn't Zeeshan Malik selected in Rawalpindi's QeA trophy? How is he playing this tournament?

So which videos are needed?

Zeeshan Malik, Kamran Ghulam, Haris Rauf, Ameer Hamza, Salman Irshad and Haider Ali I will do.

Anyone else?

Lahore Qalandars – Jazz Rising Stars T20 Cup Day 2

Muzaffarabad, 27th September 2017: Rawalpindi Rising Stars and Sargodha Rising Stars did a double as they won both matches to qualify for the semi-finals of the Lahore Qalandars-Jazz Rising Stars T20 Cup. The first match was between Muzaffarabad Rising Stars and Sargodha Rising Stars where Sargodha won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Muzaffarabad scored a total of 133 runs in 20 overs with Muhammad Mubashir starring as he scored 56 runs and got a quickfire half century. Shahzeb was the stand out bowler for Sargodha took as he ended with stats of 4-22. Haider Ali had an outstanding batting stand for Sargodha as he scored 63 having hit a total of five sixes as Sargodha won with only two deliveries remaining.

Rawalpindi Rising Stars faced Gujranwala Rising Stars in the second match. Zeeshan Malik scored 73 and Kamran Ghulam scored 55 as both put up an extremely effective partnership as Rawalpindi ended their innings with 147 runs on the board. Zubair Khan and Shahzeb Bhatti got three wickets as Gujranwala could only reach 114.

On Thursday, the third day of the tournament phase, Muzaffarabad Rising Stars will take on Gujranwala Rising Stars while Sargodha Rising Stars would look towards facing the dangerous Rawalpindi Rising Stars team in the beautiful Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium.

Don't know about pitches etc so cant comment in that sense but Zeeshan for my liking is playing too slow for a t20. I saw some of his other scorecards too where he scored 50+ but there too he scored too slow.

Zeeshan Malik with a century, guys seems to be scoring bucket loads of runs.

Has to be picked by a PSL side.

Abdullah719 can we get a video of Bilal Shah Afridi of Rawalpindi, once you're free?

is he same bilal shah whose bowling action is similar to cummins?
The one that was found in Wasim's camp a couple of years ago.

He was apart of the LQ squad in the Emirati T20, yet only managed to play one game for Rawalpindi despite them having a fairly mediocre attack.

Thanks so much.

He's a lot shorter than I thought, and the head is falling away causing M. Sami level accuracy. The raw ingredients are present, along with a hefty bit of aggression.

Talent hunt in Muzaffarabad has been a huge success: Aaqib Javed

MUZAFFARABAD: Pak*istan’s premier first-class domestic cricket competition, the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, has yet again failed to attract the crowds to the grounds despite the fact that a number of leading players are featuring in it.

However, Lahore Qalandars’ Rising Star T20 Cup which does not have a single big name featuring in it, has successfully pulled thousands of fans to the Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium here.

While this puts a question mark on the performance of PCB’s marketing and public relationing departments, it also accredits Lahore Qalandars for making great efforts to promote and support the game of cricket.

As Pakistan’s former Test pacer and LQ’s Director Cricket Aaqib Javed stated, “There’s no Shahid Afridi or Mohammad Amir here, but the electrifying environment attracts the crowds to this ground.”

Pakistan Super League’s franchise Lahore Qalandars has organised a talent hunt programme in nine cities of Punjab and Azad Kashmir in which more than 160,000 players have appeared. “Usually, we don’t get to see more than 50-60 players coming for the trials, but here we have witnessed even 26,000 at a single venue,” said Aaqib.

“We have used imported speed guns which are being used in baseball in the US,” disclosed Aaqib. “During the trials, we have discovered more than 12 fast bowlers who can bowl over 88 miles per hour,” he claimed.

Aaqib also discussed how merit system has been strictly observed during the trials. “Pakistan’s former Test player Salim Malik did everything to get his son selected into a team but he was rejected at five trials,” he said. “It was only when we got two good pacers selected from Gujranwala and then there was a demand for a batsmen from that region that his son was selected.”

Last year, LQ trials only focused on Punjab but on the request of Azad Jammu Kashmir prime minister, the management decided to take it to the land of beauty. “We wanted to spread it throughout the country but the PCB stopped us,” said Aaqib. “Last year, we only had three stakeholders on board but this time, all eight teams are sponsored. This platform is going to be a national campaign in coming years, I can tell you.”

The former pacer is stationed in Muzaffarabad for the T20 Cup opening matches. “I have never seen such a charged up crowd during my entire career,” he said. “We are changing the mindset of the audiences.”

At the end of the tournament, the coaches will select the best players and a 16-member team will then visit Australia to play against their local clubs. “A son of a mechanic is going to be trained at MCC, isn’t it amazing?” asked Aaqib.

“This platform will provide youngsters with five international opportunities at the start of their career. When the team returns from Australia, they will have Emirates T20, PSL and MCC. And when Durban Qalandars will do a talent hunt in South Africa, that team will be coming to play here in Kashmir,” he added.

This guy has carried out so many talent hunts over the year and not ONE has made it big

Biggest con artist out there

Destroyed two generations of World Cup winning under 19 squads as head coach of NCA

Im not completely against such talent hunts but the truth is, they rarely amount to anything when you look at players over 18.

Talent hunts for Under 17 and 19 levels are good considering that give more time and opportunity to the players to be polished. It would be criminal to claim that all such hunts have been unsuccessful because we need to keep in mind bowlers like Shaheen Shah, Amir and Co. are all the fruit of such talent hunts but for a lower age group.

Interestong bit aabout the speed gun and 12 bowlers bowling above 88mph...

M Ilyas, left handed batsman, has looked good so far.

Gone for 46(35).

Rafay is still there.

Right arm Malinga-esque bowler. Has a good yorker and is getting a little bit of movement

Also has a good bouncer and slower ball.

The other guy is a good bowler as well. Different style but good death bowler. MA bowling talent bohat hai yahan.

Lahore Qalandars should make a development squad, minus Awais Zia, Nauman Anwar, Usman Qadir etc and take them on road. A bit like A team. That will really help our tittle chances.

This is what LQ's Australia tour is for.

Finish on 142. They were set for a good score at the halfway stage but fell away.
