Usman is bowling pretty well. Still maintain he is a test quality spinner

Imad should have been picked instead of this actor.
Shadab has no business being in white ball cricket. His bowling is terrible and his batting is not good enough on a stand alone basis.
Such is the weak bowling of Shadab that Usman Qadir looks world class in front of him. I would always pick a leggie who can actually spin the ball. Qadir should be a permanent member of the team in white ball cricket.
Last 5 matches:

The problem with Shadab's bowling, is partly due to his action. Whenever he's under pressure, you'll see him run faster into the bowling, and that means his bowling speed increases as well. He is at his best when he's bowling with a consistent repeatable action.
Secondly, he overcompensates once he's hit for a boundary. Normal spinners would take a boundary and would either stick with their original plan or bowl in a more controlled fashion. When he gets hit, he usually bowls it quicker, and at times, it means that he drags the length back.
He's not a bad bowler by any means, but his bowling form at the moment is poor to say the least.
Personally, I think that he needs to start doing the basics right.
Shadab doesn't spin the ball much, and a lot of people are stating this, but neither does Rashid Khan. The thing is, Rashid Khan understands that he won't rip the ball, so his length is always hitting the top of the stumps. Shadab bowls too full but doesn't spin the ball. For him to be successful, he needs to go and figure out his natural length. At times, I think he's trying to bowl it shorter, but it usually comes out as a half-tracker.
Every spinner has their natural length. Spinners with high arm actions and height tend to bowl it a bit short to get more bounce. Spinners who can rip the ball like Warne used to bowl extremely full to get more revolutions. Rashid Khan bowls quite short with pace because his action doesn't allow him to rip the ball. Chahal consistently tosses the ball up because he can spin it enough to draw a false shot or a mistimed shot. Likewise, Qadir bowls it full as well because he can spin both his leg-break and his googly, so his bowling style is built around turning the ball convincingly.
Shadab needs to find his length, and he needs to do it quickly. He has to be tonked around a few times in order to learn which length works and which doesn't. Only then will he emerge as a better spinner, so I'm not worried about what happened yesterday, what happens tomorrow will be of more importance.
Simple problem- the leg spinner isn't spinning at all. Just like it's difficult for front on fast bowlers to move the ball away, it's the same issue,Needs to get a little more sideways on.
It's not as easy as that.
I've known many people who have tried changing everything about their actions yet they never spin the ball.
I have the same problem at times, but the length is important. Length is the only reason a darter like Imad survived so long in international cricket.
His action is also to blame, he needs to get closer to the wickets and put more body in his followthrough.
The length is what will help him build pressure and get wickets.

No first-class cricket, no long spells, no matches where he has to bowl 20 to 30 overs a day.
His last first-class match was the Test match versus England at Old Trafford 8 months ago.
He isnt going to spin the ball with that action and after that everything is academic. He doesn't have to even spin every ball, just enough to create the doubt in the batsmans mind. It's not difficult to bowl leg spin, I used to turn the ball square, the problem is to land it in the business end, ( leg and middle on a good length) on a consistent basis. The bowlers that can't spin their leg spinner are mostly natural googly bowlers where the wrist comes over too much. Shadab didn't have a great leg spinner but if you watch his highlights from the U19 WC, it wasn't sharp but enough to be fairly effective. ATM he is a shadow of the bowler, and if he was sent back to FC he wouldn't be much of a threat. He has become a terrible bowler.
One of the worst leg spin bowling spell I have watched
English spinners have totally showed up our two main non spinning spinners here.
Qadir is twice the bowler Shadab is. We have picked the wrong legspinner for the World Cup. Qadir can atleast turn the ball and he has far better control.
So Usman Qadir gets to sit out the ODI series vs West Indies - must be cursing PCB - great chance to get some wickets but Shadab preferred.
Usman done well so far I feel - Pakistan looking at him for some more wickets

Not his fault, leg spinners only get better by playing more.He still bowls too many bad balls and is expensive. But that's a good performance by his usual standards.
