[VIDEOS] Sohaib Maqsood 2.0

I think he’s the least of our problems tbh.

He’s showed glimpses of being a match winner on his day.

I don’t mind him getting out the way he did. It’s a tough pitch and a meter back that’s a six.

I feel he deserves more chances as we don’t have the players for the middle order.

How long should the rope be? WI series? He may just perform there, especially if they have brain fades while bowling, but nothing about him says international batsman yet.

Maqsood loses concentration very easily. His short selection is very poor.I know it is growing backwards but Shoab Malik should have been selected for England and WI series. He is good player of spin.He should be in T20 WC team. Both Hafeez and Malik can retire after WC.

Below average player against pacers and miserable against spin. Can be trapped very easily by any above average bowler.

I would give Maqsood 3 more T20s.

Malik is done and dusted. We cant carry two 45 year olds.

Sohaib has missed the golden chance of cementing his place, now WI tour will be his last as i think he will fail there as well and then we will be playing Malik in T20 WC :)

Sohaib aint international material, lacks fitness, lacks concentration, extremely poor shot selections, we should not carry him for long .

He dominates the PSL and gets rewarded with a recall for the England tour, during which he only scores 93 runs across 6 innings.

He's now dropped from the side in the first T20I against Windies. Did he blow his chance?

I think in terms of the t20 he's making good starts but just needs to be told to put his foot on the break at times, he can hit some really irresponsible shots.

I think he deserves to stay in the squad for another tour as he got starts but didn't convert but he may not get another chance in this series.

We should have persisted with him at no.3 for a few more games. I did see some potential.

Was in the July squad against England but dropped out New Zealand series.

Sohaib made 75 (47) today for Southern Punjab vs Northern

Pretty solid batting today. Shows that if he applies himself properly he certainly is international quality material

Key player for us.

Different league to the likes of Adam Khan and Khushdil who are not international level batsmen.

Maqsood reaches his half century
now 54 (33) with 6 fours and 2 sixes. SR 163.4

Happy birthday Sohaib Maqsood 🎂

The right-handed batter has represented Pakistan in 55 matches, scoring 1,054 runs. In 79 first-class matches, he has scored 4,656 runs.

Great batting from Shoaib Maqsood made 38(20) so far with a strike rate of 190 against India Champions while playing for Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2024.

Sohaib Maqsood gone after playing a really useful innings of 51 runs off 26 balls.

Everyone is going cuckoo over Sharjeel, not many are talking about the stylish knock by Sohaib. He had decent success playing for Pakistan at no.3 in white ball and then was due to an agenda shifted down the order.

Even after doing well in PSL, he does still not find a spot in the playing XI in PSL.

Everything is agenda driven in Pakistan cricket. Unfortunately many legends who are in the squad in the current tournament were mastermind in the agendas against certain players.

Sohaib maqsood is smashing England champions... currently playing on 53 runs off just 35 deliveries.

This guy is looking a serious hitter to replace lord Iftikhar Ahmed in Pakistan team.

He’s 37 and looks the right age, probably still younger than Ifitkhar 😂 but his international days are well behind him. It’s a shame he didn’t get that last shot with the Pakistan team, I think it was the previous T20 WC where he was in the selected squad coming off smashing PSL form but got injured at the last minute.

That is the poblem in Pakistan cricket that we dont give chances to the dervring talent at the right time.

He was ruined by Misbah. He came, played at no 3/4, Scored half centuries, an 89 and many other match winning innings.

Was a genuine six hitter. Then he had a slight dip in form and was relegated to no 7 by misbah to support asad shafiq of all people.

That's the issue with misbah, rather then act like a normal coach/selector/ captain and focus on how to improve your players who can become genuine match winners,

He relegated them to the side and focuses on trying to improve people like rizwan, Chacha or shafiq who at their absolute best are impactless players who'll have maybe 1 to 2 good knocks here and their or at worst insufferable failures.

37 is not too bad for a batter. He looks fit. The key for me is to play him at no.3 for Pakistan.

What a catch taken by Sohaib Maqsood close to boundary rope..

Must be inspired by SKY! :ROFLMAO:

Another “what if” which is sadly all too common with Pakistan cricket.

Him and Harris Sohail are two players whose careers were mishandled and ruined.

Sohaib Maqsood was originally selected for T20 WC 2021 after good PSL season but just before tournament he got injured and was replaced by Shoaib Malik. Many players were tried after 2021WC but he was never selected due to reasons best known to selectors or captain even though there was no proper hard hitter in the team. He should have got 3-4 series to prove his worth but unfortunately that's how things works in Pakistan cricket

He was one of my favorite players who didn’t get the grooming he deserved. He reminded me of Kevin Peterson because of his power and technique but sadly he was inconsistent and wasn't given a long enough rope. Age isn't on his side now, making a comeback unlikely, but I still believe he's miles better than Ifti.
Haider Ali, on the other hand, has immense talent and experience despite being just 23. With more chances lower down the order, he could become a fantastic finisher. I still can’t believe he’s only 23!

Iftikhar literally was hitting 90-100 meter sixes in the PSL this year.

Maqsood is getting pies from retired players.
The difference is that Ifti can't improvise; he needs the ball to be in his zone to hit those crazy long sizes. Maqsood, on the other hand, was a 360-degree player with no apparent weaknesses. Unfortunately, he was his own worst enemy with his shot selections

Sohaib Maqsood yes.

Haris sohail no, Haris sohail was outside of anyone's control. Their was no way to handle his knee issue.

He was fit, he was a player, he was our star batsmen alongside fakhar during sarfi's era. But his knee wasn't his fault.

Some things are not meant to be. Plus the knee is a tender area. Surgery isn't really a magic be all solution for playing cricket.

I have a slightly different take on Haris Sohail. The PCB did mess up with how they handled his surgery, to what extent I don’t know for sure but they are partly to blame. On the other hand, Haris never took his fitness seriously, he had all the skill in the world but fitness just wasn’t there even if his knee was good he would likely have not survived for too long. Plus he had some mental blocks like the time he ran out of a hotel room claiming he saw a jinn. I do miss him though, he had a beautiful cover drive.

Don’t forget his 2015 ghost stories about the hotel he was staying at in Christchurch. He was found shaking and refused to believe suggestions that his fever was causing hallucinations.

A fascinating character, no doubt.

Shoaib Maqsood was seen as the next Inzi when he came onto the scene.

He is a great player to watch when on song.

Agreed. I think he still has a batter range than Azam Khan, Ifti, Asif Ali, Khushdil and other strikers. His off side hitting is also very good. The thing with him though is that he is not a lower middle order batter. He is a number 3 batter and that is where he has had more success.

Is there any possibility of bringing him back to the ODI squad in place of Shadab Khan or Salman Ali Agha?

Why did Pakistan waste his talent all these years. His timing is supreme and his batting fearless. Very similar to Andrew Symonds
