This just shows the difference in the standard of cricket being played in first class and in the second xi games. Just look at this example of Abrar Ahmed, he performed exceptional in the 2nd xi games he played (48 wickets), and then gets promoted to 1st XI and struggled a bit, as the competition was higher and stronger and then he gets demoted to the 2nd xi (terrible decision in my opinion) and picks up 9 wickets in his first match back.
This is how a domestic system should be. A player performs and then gets promoted and notices and feels the difference in the standard of cricket being played. This is how world class players are going to be produced and they are going to be mentally stronger once they reach international level.
Now that there is a strong system, and players know that they have to work twice as hard even after getting promoted to the first xi of their respective teams, young cricketers should not be fast tracked unless they are performing exceptional and have proved to the selectors that they are ready for international cricket. Before there was no system, as many young cricketers got lost in the system, so I was one of those fans that always wanted young cricketers to perform and get selected in international, because of the danger of them getting lost as well.
But now with this strong system, the more first class cricket these cricketers play, the more it will benefit them and improve their game. Before the players use to learn at international level and they were not really ready. They were 50 to 60 percent of the finished product. When you go to international, players should be 85 to 90 percent of the finished product.
The story of Abrar shows the success of the new system. And if WK stays around for another 5 years, the fruits will be born by PK for decades. Players are now out of their comfort zone and if we put the heat on the coaches to improve fielding standards, we will get highly competitive games all the time.

Is it possible the different ball being used is causing some problems for him ?
Cause was reading an article comparing different balls and how the kookaburaaaa ball spins less the. Other balls.
In this article the SG ball was reported to spin the most

Was taking wickets for fun in 2nd XI Trophy (57 wkts at average of 11 in 6 matches).
Finding the stepup to 1st XI more difficult though, 15 wkts at 44 apiece.
He may have ability but 57 scalps in 6 matches is ridiculous and suggests in the 2nd XI either the pitches are woefully underprepared or the batsmen are incompetent against spin - likely it's both.
He is reportedly struggling with the size of the kookaburra, which isnt being used in the 2nd division. Was taking wickets for fun in 2nd XI Trophy (57 wkts at average of 11 in 6 matches).

Inferior quality balls as well

Good for him that he is selected for Pakistan Shaheens but Wasim should have selected Faisal Akram another mystery spinner
I agree he should have but maybe too early for him. Really disappointed Southern Punjab dropped him after 3 games when he had just one bad game
From Round 6 of QeA:
Karachi, 24 November 2021: Sindh took complete control of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22 sixth-round clash against Balochistan on day-one of the four-day fixture at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi. After rolling over Balochistan for 96 courtesy leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed’s maiden five-wicket first-class haul and pacer Sohail Khan’s four-fer, Sindh openers Ahsan Ali (119 not out) and Khurram Manzoor (94) added 199 runs for the first-wicket to all but end Balochistan’s hopes of a comeback in the match.
Sindh won the toss and opted to bowl first against Balochistan at the UBL Sports Complex, Balochistan got off to a poor start as Sindh bowlers dominated the first session. Lunch was taken with Balochistan placed at 67 for four.
Fast bowler Sohail Khan made the inroads before lunch and it was the Abrar show post-lunch as Balochistan were sent packing for 96. Captain Imran Butt (33) was the only Balochistan batter to offer some resistance.
Abrar finished with a five-wicket haul conceding 23 runs in 5.5 overs as Balochistan lost their last six wickets for 19 runs. Sohail took four wickets for 26 runs from his nine overs. Sindh collected the full (six) bowling points on offer.
Another gem of a selection after Usman Qadir. Decent spinner, but specialist spinners are not fit for T20s especially when this series could be used to find a possible solution to our batting woes.
What does one thing have to do with another. He’s clearly there to challenge Qadir as the reserve leggie. Also there aren’t any sure fire middle order batsmen that are kicking the door down
Could have tried literally anyone, even the 15 average hacks. U Qadir was already a poor selection with Shadab being our go to leggie. Even Qasim Akram and Agha Salman were better choices than specialist Abrar.
Abrar Ahmed picks up his third five-wicket haul in first-class cricket in QeA22
Abrar takes 11 wickets in the game

Should have played against England.
When i was really young, i used to follow domestic performers go gaga on them and would keep on saying that flana should get selected because of so and so performance.
As I grew I stopped, but than I heard Misbah say good things about Abrar Ahmad 2 weeks ago and knew that this was some new kid who recently got selected for pakistan.
Been following his matches for the last couple of days, he is picking a 5ver in every match.
This kid is a gem, and im really excited about him.
This Kid can throw Shadab Khan out of the team because this kid is actually taking wickets in first class wicket. If he takes wickets in all formats and performs for Pakistan, Shadab's place in the team can become in danger.

Lahore, 3 November 2022: Abrar Ahmed produced his best performance of the season on Thursday, taking six wickets for 61 runs, to put Sindh eight runs ahead of Southern Punjab before they finished with the second innings lead of 80 with eight wickets in hand at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The second day of the seventh round belonged to the 24-year-old mystery spinner as Abrar recorded his fifth five-wicket haul in as many matches of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He further consolidated his position as the leading wicket-taker and now has 38 scalps at 17.66.
