[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter: Mohammad Haris

I will believe in him when he scores tons of runs in a domestic season.

It is difficult for me rate players based on T10 or T20

If you are one of those who defends Babar’s captaincy and the RizBar opening partnership because of reaching the final

Well you owe this boy a lot for providing you the reason to celebrate those achievements.

1 innings, one dynamic effort of 28 from 10 balls totally tilted Pakistan’s fortunes in that tournament. That’s the power he holds, that’s the importance he has.

Mark my words, this is the kind of player who will suffer abuse from the SENA teams instead of the usual smiles and handshakes they give our players for being nice guys. They will never accept a player who fights their fire with fire, and Harris is that kind of guy.

Haris finally cashes in on a Pindi pancake to smash his first half century of the tournament. Could be a big one today

I don't think it's the same sort of pitch that we've seen so far. This one has something for the bowlers.

Hopefully with his & Saim performances we would finally be able to get rid of RizBabar in T20I's

Saim, Fakhar and Harris v Babar, Rizwan and Shan

I know what my top 3 would be

Haris has got all shots in the book.At times he gives his wicket cheaply by playing bad shots.

Another eventful cameo from Haris - 34 from 17.

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/6luq6s" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

A proper T20 batter, 360 player who is completely destructive on his day. Hope he performs well against Afghanistan.

The kid is something special. A half century from 28 balls today.

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/02r6zi" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Played 13 balls against Rashid Khan, the best bowler in the tournament, and took him for 29.

This is utterly outrageous

He was Pakistan’s best player in the T20 World Cup and now he is playing like the player of the tournament here too

Harris is that guy

Probably the best innings of the tournament considering the bowling attack, conditions and the stage. Absolutely brilliant really wanted him to get the ton.

But he really didn’t want to get that ton. Because it’s meaningless to him. That’s the player. That’s the right spirit

Absolutely brilliant innings today.

From start to finish he looked in control.

Some outrageous shots - without him PZ would have struggled to put up a decent total against LQ.

The boy has immense testicular fortitude. He plays with true bravery. I hope the fans allow him his failures, because playing in such an expressive way will make him hit or miss.

Haris is ideal no 4 and Azam at 5

We need quality middle order batsmen in the middle, opening is the easiest job

Showed his captain how to bat in T20 cricket, and not for the first time.

His innings vs SAF was one of the turning points of our WC campaign.

A team player.

Doesn't play for his average, instead plays for the team.

I felt he carried PZ until he was out and if others had shown the same urgency, PZ would have got close to 200.

Wonderful to watch when on song.

Quickest hands and amazing reflexes. Murders 140 kph bowling.
Great talent and not a hint of nervousness. As he tightens up his basics he ll be a beast of a batter.

Probably best offensive batsman in the country at the moment. I am sure selectors will label him T20 player and not pick him for 50 over WC, which would be a big travesty.

Very few batsmen take on Rashid Khan for fear of losing their wicket. He was fearless against him.Hit him out of the park.

In the T20 WC, he played some good shots against Nortje (150kph) and Rabada ~140kph but struggled massively against slower bowlers and spin bowlers, England was the only team to realise this.

I haven't been watching this awful PSL season, but if the other teams haven't figured the above out when bowling to Muhammad Hairs, its a big blunder, they must have.

Well he’s learning pretty quick then. Dealt with Rashid Khan pretty comfortably

Ideally he’s an opener, but he showed today that he can rock at No.4 as well. That only gives the team more options.

He can do either but if you want to maximise his impact and want to win more games, play him up top.

If you love babar and riz insta infographics, play him down the order

Nah, but I love Saim infographics.

I also acknowledge the gaping hole that we have at No. 4. Every option there is sub optimal barring Haris.

Well he did a insane six that was caught by quick Fakhar at fine leg.

It was a blatant no-ball from Shaheen, but the umpires still gave him the wicket on the last ball of his spell.

Shaheen ended with 1-41, although he deserved to be 0-48.

This

Great T20 teams have quality middle order. We can't get stuck with shan and ifti chacha. Replace these two with Haris and Azam.

He has a strike rate of 230 against all balls faced above 140 kph in his career. That is insane because no one in Pakistan has those sort of reflexes.
He must be backed through his failures because his approach is high risk and must continuously improve his game and put on a bit of muscle.

Has scored 110 off 48 balls (140 + deliveries) . It's not the biggest sample size but it's clear that he is an elite high pace hitter.

Ofcourse he doesn’t have those level of performances yet, but he plays as brazenly as his idol Jos Buttler.

I remember when Jos first debuted, people could clearly see how talented he was, but didn’t know what to do with him. They were frequently annoyed that Jos got out early. Thankfully Jos had Morgan as captain and Bayliss as coach and the rest is history.

This is why we need to give Haris a wide wide wide rope. Players with his courage, ability and work ethic are rare. InshAllah the performances will come to match that ability.

England's setup backs players to the hilt. They (captain, coach, players) have all bought in to the brand of cricket they want to play. A young dasher would be completely confident in himself even if he fails on his first few attempts . Will PCB, Mickey and Babar and the rest of the team be as accommodating? It all depends on that.

Exactly. If Phil Salt was Pakistani, he’d have been dropped after one series.

Speaking of, how does the BCCI handle such young precocious lads? (I don’t really watch India/IPL outside of ICC events)

Once they are part of the international team/squad itself, I think they are handled pretty well. Dravid has a lot of haters but I think he has a pretty good idea of what is needed.

However, we are not producing the level or diversity of skillsets required possible because

1. Talent identification/development is not where it needs to be and/or

2. There isn't as much talent available and/or

3. Selections and selection criteria are not the most optimal.

Brilliant 81(51) for B-Kandy vs Jaffna in LPL 2023

So, is he trying to say that he wants to play as an opener and then he will score more runs? It is an obvious fact that openers in t20 can score more runs. Him opening in PSL is possible but I don't think he will be opening in the international games.

--------------------------

Mohammad Haris speaking during an interview:

“I feel that everyone likes to open in T20 and opening here is very easy in PSL. You can also get me to open, I will easily score 50 runs. No one is ready to play at number four or five because the demand is not like that. You need 100 runs in 10 overs, 80 off 8 overs, or 60 runs in 5 overs as soon as you go out there, if you do not meet the expectations of the fans, people get angry, although it is difficult. This can only be possible three or four times out of 10. No one is ready to play at number four or five because there is no consistency in it and our people want consistency.”

"Selectors are also giving opportunities to players and it depends on the players now. Many players have also got opportunities, now it also depends on them how they adjust, whether they perform in these conditions or not. I hope that by the World Cup we will have a good bench strength and a good middle order will also be formed."

I always thought that Haseebullah was the only guy who was pathetic but Haris has even surpassed him with his poor show.
