[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter : Mohammad Huraira

Sadly doesn’t seem to have the needed connections to get opportunities at the national level.

He should already have been fast tracked

Doesn't need connections. If he was not on the radar he wouldn't be on this tour. Abdullah had good timing, Abid Ali got injured and he took his spot.

Looking impressive in Shaheen's run-chase in 2nd OD vs Zim Select - some excellent shots including that flicked six.

As per a media report, Omair Bin Yousuf and Mohammad Hurraira are likely to get their maiden Test call-up for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

Mohammad Hurraira selected for the Sri Lanka tour. Well deserved. He's been the top scorer for past two QeA seasons.

Hurraira can easily fit into the top 5 in tests especially in asain conditions.

He looks like a star in the making to me
21 years old, 44 innings with a FC average of 63

So will Huraira make the grade for tour of Australia?

Huraira is still young and it is very early for him to be rushed into the side for a difficult tour of Australia.

He’s an overhyped rubbish player people need to stop overhyping these average players. No wonder pakistan produce weak timid nurdlers

Mohammad Huraira played an excellent innings of 71 runs not out off 42 balls whiles playing for Sialkot against FATA in National T20 Cup 2023-24. These are the highlights of his innings.

He is an excellent young player and he needs to play all formats at the domestic level but looks like a Test player in the main.

good conventional batting, zero power game, struggled to clear boundaries against second tier bowling and slowed down considerably after the power play.

will do OK at this level, and maybe even PSL, but pak dont need another accumulator in this format. should be in the test squad, but with shan as captain dont think he'll get to play at three either. might have to grind a few years before the appropriate opportunity opens up.

Should be in the tests squad regardless, as a reserve. Could come in as a replacement anywhere from 1-5.

Bang average player. A nurdler. Imam ul haq part 2. Don’t know why fans hype these mediocre players who won’t get into any other team in the world.

Like I said he’s just another nurdlers typ player and looks bang average.

Hassan Nawaz is the type of player pakistan need to invest in not these mark timid players

Needs to add to his repertoire in the shorter format.

His game is more suited to Test cricket and he's a good prospect for that format.

Hurraira scored magnificent 86* (55) against Lahore Blues tonight in National T20 Cup 2023.

This kid has some serious talent.

In the third round of the President's Trophy 2023-24, on day 3, Mohammad Huraira scored an unbeaten 55* (55) in the second innings for HEC against KRL. HEC needs 317 more runs to win. So, Huraira needs to convert his fifty into a big score tomorrow.

On day 4, HEC's Mohammad Huraira's dismissed for 67(68) which resulted in KRL's victory over HEC by 120 runs.

As a young player, I hope Huraira will learn and grow from such experiences on the field. These moments often serve as valuable lessons for young talents to evolve and refine their skills in red ball cricket.

On Day 2, Mohammed Huraira fell just short of a century, scoring a gritty 85 off 144 in the first innings against SNGPL, powering HEC to a total of 257 (all out) in the seventh round of the President's Trophy 2023-24.

A fiery innings of 55(28) played by Huraira today against the GIC while playing for state bank in the ongoing ghani Ramazan cricket tournament.

Mohammad Huraira has been named as the captain of HEC for the upcoming President's Cup 2024 starting from tomorrow. Good to see a youngster being named as captain leading a domestic side in a 50-over competition. Best of luck to this lad.

The future star of Pakistan, Mohammad Huraira, scored an unbeaten 100 (78) for HEC against PTV in the President's Cup 2024, marking his maiden List A century. The best part of this century is that it came during a chase. He can solve the problem of our middle order when chasing.

Scored heavily in Quaid e Azam trophy, got selected in the squad, and then dropped after playing no game. This has been a norm in Pakistan cricket.
He should be in the squad for asain conditions. He is proper player of spin.

Got a chance to open for Pakistan Shaheens against Bangladesh A in the 1st 4-day game of the tour and scored a brilliant century and still looking solid at the crease. Batting at 129 runs at a healthy strike rate of 79.

He has been scoring some heavy runs and is knocking at the doors of selectors for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh.

150 up for Huraira, and it does not look like he is going anywhere. That was a good knock by him.

So this guys is a nephew of Shoaib Malik
@The Bald Eagle.

Is Pakistani cricket limited to a few families?
Yep, he is and there is nothing wrong with being someone's relative.

The wrong thing is when a guy comes into the team without any performance and fails at the international stage and still makes it into the squad.

Huraira is a different breed. His performance has been top-class in domestics and he deserves a chance for sure.

Of course there is no problem with having a cricketer family member. Its only an advantage but if every player is belonging to some linked family, that should be a concern.
My point with @The Bald Eagle on the other other thread is about how many players are there in Pakistani cricket who dont have their uncles/aunts/fathers/ grandfathers/cousins not in Pakistani cricket set up already?
From the looks of its, non-cricket back ground players will be a very small minority. Hence the question a country of 250 million and cricketers limited to a few privileged families?

You guys know better, just tell me in the current Pakistani line up, how many players are from non-cricket background altogether? My knowledge is limited in this regard.

PS: Topic for the other thread, will continue there :)

I’ve been excited about Huraira for a few years now. He travelled wit the squad I think when Afridi was CS and wanted to give exposure to some of the younger up and coming players. He is a monster in Pakistani conditions and it would be absurd not to pick him for the Bangladesh series. Imam needs to get the boot and Shafique/Huraira gets a look as an opening combo.

There are thousands of players in the setup without any association to privileged families. Also, having an uncle or grand father who played in the past doesn’t guarantee a spot or even a chance. I would argue that it’s a good thing if a relative played cricket in some regard for Pakistan because that’s motivation and something to look up to for a youngster.

Are those thousands of platers getting the desired exposure at top?
Just a cursory look at Pakistan cricket Team and you find that about 35% of the centrally contracted players have had their uncles or fathers in Pakistan cricket. It could be more if we dive deeper than just Wikipedia. Basically a close knit family business it is.

That's considerable Nepotism and monopoly of a bunch of few influential families on a population of 250 million. Thousands at the bottom tier with no chance at the top.

imam needs to be given the boot, you know he is not capable of playing overseas. Huraira deserves a chance in red ball format. Lets see if Asad shafiq, Jason Gillespie and Shan have the guts.

Pakistan should be opening with Abdullah Shafique and Huraira. Huraira has done really well in FC and deserves to be in the starting eleven. There's no point wasting any more time on Imam. He will always be a walking wicket on pitches with pace and bounce.

To continue with Imam is just a mockery of talent we have.

Huraira is a good player

Waiting for the traditional PP/ Pakistani fan cycle.

Hype him as the next coming for Bradman, praise him in his first few games, call him a parchi for his connection to Shoaib Malik, ask him to be dropped for another youngster. Then the cycle will continue with another player.

Spot on

And how is hurrira any different from Imam? Both are nepo babies.

Imam would have murked this bamgaldesh squad lol irrespective of the pitch.

Abdullah shafiq and Shabzada farhan should be persisted as openers for test.

How is Huraira a nepo baby? He's never been selected in the Pakistan squad despite piling on the runs in domestic. Nepotism would have fast tracked him into the team by now like Azam Khan. Farhan also deserves a shot.

Mammoth inning by this guy against Bangladesh A for Pakistan Shaheen. Scored a superb 218 knock at a strike rate of 88.

Deserves a chance in the team? I guess he does.

He’s been a class apart. Ability to stay at the crease, temperament, and shot selection. Compared to who has been getting selected, this guy is the real deal. Playing proper first class cricket with the right technique is a rare sight in Pakistan these days.

Probably the most talented guy in the domestic circuit atm who deserves a shot at the team. We tried guys like Imam and saim and shan who were a failure.

He's connected to malik and their more deserving players that are not getting noticed.

Hurraira is always included in pakistan A teams

Can be our flat tract bully against inferior bowlers and frat track , the last time I saw him on a good supporting wicket he was made to look like a tailender by Zim pacers , hopefully he has improved from that.

Definitely a better talent than those who can't even perform after getting more than 20 innings

This guy has every shot in his book. he can cover drive, can play straight down the ground can cut the ball can sweep. Plays the ball on top of it. Good technique. Probably the answer to Pakistan's opening voes.

He’s not a nepotistic selection. He performs and has been performing, and has prioritized domestic cricket. Being connected to Malik because he’s his nephew doesn’t mean much in this case. I think Huraira is the real deal.
