[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter : Zeeshan Malik

Incredible that Zeeshan Malik has not been picked for PSL4. 3 of his last 4 List A scores are 118, 149 and 145. Cannot believe he wasn't selected but Jahid Ali was. Should be in the A tour at the next opportunity.

Zeeshan Malik scored 120 runs off 82 balls against PIA in Patron's Trophy Grade-II

Zeeshan Malik: Any future with Pakistan?

Looking really good in domestic so far with good stats. Should he be called up as a replacement for Hafeez?

In my view No.

1. If we want to replace Hafeez the middle order batsman than we should select Saud Shakeel

2. If we are looking to replace Hafeez with an allrounder than we should pick Agha Salman (after some refined offspin coaching at NCA by Tauseef or Saqlain) or Kamran Ghulam.

3. If we want to replace Hafeez with an attacking number 6 batsman who can bowl part time spin than we should select Khushdil Shah.

With 2023 World Cup being in India I would never select Fakhar Zaman. He is horrible against any spinner who is just good on a spinning surface. Given his age and terrible technique I don’t think he can improve. Hence we need to pick an opener who is good not against pace but spin bowling also.

Who can be contenders ?

1. Haider Ali

2. Ahsan Ali

3. Zeeshan Malik

4. Shan Masood

5. Rizwan Hussain

6. Sharjeel Khan.

If you tell me that we have an Odi series after two months and who should be picked than my pick will be Shan Masood who has List A average of 55 and scored a 50 against Australia in his last Odi for Pakistan at a SR of 90. He is a role model in fitness aswell.

Sharjeel needs to get fit first and his game against spin isn’t impressive. Ahsan has to improve his List A stats aswell as fitness. He is a player in Rohit Sharma’s mold.

Haider Ali has all the ingredients to be a successful opener. I wish to see him getting Coached by Mohammad Yousuf. He should be immediately picked for next Pakistan A tour.

Zeeshan Malik needs to come back on ground after those 3-4 List A hundreds. He will be in line definitely but he needs to work on his attitude. Playing for Pakistan is an honour, previlage & pride. It’s not your right. I have backed him and will back him.

Zeeshan Malik made up for his failure in the first inning with an aggressive unbeaten 54, which was laced with eight fours and a six in 59 balls

At the draw of stumps on Monday, Northern, who scored 450 all out in the first innings, were 75 without loss in 18 overs. They now have an overall lead of 224 runs

Zeeshan Malik , who resumed his innings on 54 not out, was out for 68. He hit nine fours and a six in his 78-ball knock on day 4 of the drawn game between Balochistan and Northern

He played some lovely shots .Hopefully he doesn't messed up his chance in upcoming t20 tournament where he has perfect opportunity to pick as a third opener for Pakistan

Batting on 122* for Northern against Southern Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. That's his maiden first-class hundred.

Umair bin Yusuf and Haider ali are ahead of him in the pecking order however one good season and he could be in the run.

He is the most attacking batsmen among the new upcoming batsmen, definitely deserve to play in the PSL at least as an emerging player.

Delighted for him.

The lad has worked really hard on his batting.

Made 200 in 79 overs against quite a decent attack. This is I think where we can start to see the benefit of this 6 (+6) regional model, where several young players already has shown their capability, which wasn't happening in Corporate model, where always the performing spots were going to seniors - almost a decade stuck with few names.

Probably a career defining knock from Zeeshan Malik and he is still at the crease. While he already has 3 100s in List A but a FC double hundred in new QAE structure will definitely put more light on him. I hope he can continue this form and gets selected in PSL as well because he will be pretty good pick in emerging category for any side.

He hit three hundreds in consecutive List A matches for Rawalpindi last season. Has had limited opportunities so far in domestic cricket.

And therein lies the problem.

Plays a match or two, then gets dropped, plays again, then gets dropped.

Maybe needs better connections or wealthy backers.

Only hope is now that he is playing under muhammed Wasim , I expect him to be given a long run in the team

If he doesn't get selected for PSL and perform there, our selectors probably won't even know who he is.

Not this time tough.
The head coach of all the six teams are a part of selection committee, there will not be any performance going unnoticed, Zeeshan is a bit raw now, he needs to perform consistently in the first class first but he definitely deserves to be a part of PSL 2019, as an emerging batsman he would be worth his weight in gold for any PSL team.

I think he is mentally tough and got all the shots in the book plus he is aggressive as well, not sure about his technique against a moving ball but he can be a FTB in ODIs for us.

Zeeshan Malik made 59 runs today for Northern to add to his 216 in 1st innings

from what i saw he is a very good backfoot player , doesnt block unnecessarily which is lost on many of our players.

Zeeshan Malik 216 versus Southern Punjab recently.

pleasantly surprised, i assumed there would have been a lot more slogging involved having seen highlights of some of his earlier knocks, but plenty of straight drives and controlled pulls in there. definitely looked better than id have guessed from prior impressions.

Great strokeplay

He deserve to play ODI cricket. A good backfoot player, doesn't crouch like many Pakistan batsmen do

Some lovely shots in that 216.

Looks a fine batsman.

Some gorgeous shots.

He looks like a really strong backfoot player, keeps his posture and balance well.

Has poor footwork against pacers. Don't see him doing well in international cricket. Happy to be proven wrong though

52 for Northern in their second innings against Central Punjab.

First 8 FC matches: 0 hundreds, 0 fifties
Last 3 FC matches, 1 hundred (216), 3 fifties.

He batting style is so much similar to young rohit sharma especially his cover drive is carbon copy of rohit one's.

He is modern day test player who doesn't
hesitate to play his shot which is excellent
and very rare in Pakistan batsmen .Also he is good at pull shot which is very important for any top order player

Will likely be picked by Multan -- wont be surprised if they have Zeeshan Malik and Zeeshan Ashraf opening

He is really good once he gets his eye in, his strokeplay is good all around the ground so he can score at a good clip anytime the bowlers err. He should be a better player on truer pitches, even.

Sohail troubled him a bit with the new ball with some outswing though. But he played at the line of the ball rather than chasing it, so he survived that period.

Cant believe he's been wasted for the last 2 years. Pick him already !!!

Dismissed for 96 this morning.

Some super strokes there but some also very lose/risky ones. IMO he still needs more time in domestic cricket.

Also, is it just me, or did all those bowlers look like trundlers?

Sindh has the trundler army or Sohail Khan, Tabish Khan and Mir Hamza.

He played quite expansively in this innings as Northern were gunning for a declaration so the plan was to attack, but that's not far from his natural game anyway.

Hopefully he's selected against Sri Lanka. He along with Babar can take on the opposition in tests.

Zeeshan Malik and Abdullah Shafique are amongst a group of cricketers who have been invited to the Tareen Academy to work with some foreign coaches who are there these days.

Good news. Both of them should have been selected in PSL.

No room for youngsters in the Pakistan Seniors League. This circus tournament is just another payday for has beens and friends of management.

The only good thing is it's hosted in Pakistan.

Completely agree. Specially when you consider misbah was playing till last year as well as sami etc. You got afridi still playing while the likes of shameless duo of hafeez and Malik will continue to play for the next 3-5 years. We hardly select young players and when do it's rubbsiab like azam khan or they are not given a chance. Whenever given a chance they make sure they bat at 7 or 8.

Lots of potential and has the ability to go far but like Haider - was unable to finish things off - 4 more matches to go for Shaheens so expecting better things from him. Today he made 52(33)

Good potential. But the kid is over age by 5+ years. Another Ahmed Shehzahd in the making. No point playing him...unless you realize he’s cheating the system.

It’s not 5+, he fudged by a year or two I believe to make U-19. That still leaves a decently long career ahead.

Zeeshan Malik becomes the first centurion of National T20 2023-24. He makes an unbeaten 107 off 69 balls against Faisalabad Region today.

Today vs Bahawalpur, Zeeshan Malik played unbeaten blistering knock 57*(22) for Rawalpindi which followed by 37 runs victory over Bahawalpur.

Good stuff. He’s been on the fringes for a while but hopefully 2024 will be his breakthrough year.

Looking forward to seeing him in PSL.

Zeeshan Malik played an explosive innings for his side Rawalpindi today, Made 99* (58) in National T20 Cup 2025 against Hyderabad.

No idea why he didn't play for Pakistan , had all the talent in the world.
He was a massive age defaulter. He was overage by 5-8 years. Well known in pindi circuit.

Plus, he was caught in spot fixing. So not needed.

So instead of being 28 right now, you're saying he's anywhere from 33-36? lol
