UA clearly one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in Pakistan but was still not being allowed to represent central Punjab. Instead we have had some of the most garbage hitters representing Pakistan in the form of Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah and others!

He did play for the second XIs this season and played 6 games w/ a huge contribution of 89 runs at a princely s/r of 107.

Perhaps you will have to answer to God, in not doing the most basic of research.

If you have played international cricket in the past does not mean you have any advantage or are expected to score runs or have ANY right to be recalled to the national side.

it does have an advantage. International is top level cricket, while domestic is lesser level. Yes, you might have not dominated but getting to play aiganst top level cricket, giving you that experience will give you an advantage when you play a slightly lesser level of cricket. You can judge the slower balls and the opposing player better

Go check when he last played international cricket.

There is no way if someone played international cricket years ago, that player has any advantage playing in a league many years after his last international appearance.

You can’t claim me, I’m the biggest Umar Akmal supporter on this forum. The man behind the creation of the infamous Umar Akmal - Missing star thread. When everyone was against him, I stood by him.

The reason why I say this may be his last PSL is because no one was picking him. He’s in the QG team as a player mentor. He needed to be backed by Sarfaraz and given the entire PSL to judge were his career is going.

Hopefully, he plays the remaining games and we get to see who the real KING is.

Babar barely had a strike rate of 100 in the power play on decent batting wickets in the PSL if you think Umar can’t do better well I don’t know what to say.

Umar averages 43 at no 3 in T20Is for Pakistan with him being a decent hitter of fast bowling he can do a job opening in limited overs.

One of the main reasons why Pakistan will struggle in the T20 WC is the opening partnership of Babar and Rizwan come back to this post once the World Cup finishes.

I already knew Babar and Rizwan would struggle at the World Cup strike rate of 93 for Babar Umar is definitely a better powerplay batsman.

Not only that he was Pakistan’s best test batsman for years but was kept out by Misbah due to scoring at 70 strike rate in tests never given a chance in Asia where all batsmen do better in home conditions.

Away he had a better average than Shafiq Azhar Fawad Haris Malik any batsman who was played instead of him.

To answer your question in bold; Asif Ali, Sharjeel Khan and Khushdil Khan (did you know he has hit the fastest century in Pak domestics?). Any of the mentioned players can do a similar flash in pan innings but does anyone of them inspire confidence? No. Flash in pan does not win much consistency does.

The point is simple if cannot be consistent then he will remain a flash in pan. And unfortunately his career trajectory does suggest he has been a flash in pan all his life. I don't believe in doing the same mistake over and over again and to anticipate a different result.

Umer has had such performances before against better attacks but has he ever converted that in to a consistent run of form.

He is a highly talented cricketer possibly the best U 21 talent in Asia since Sachin but that has taken him no where . He will follow this up with another inconsistent run as it has happened countless times.

Nothing to be excited about , Umer is a lost cause since 5 years.
