What's new

[VIDEOS] What has happened to Hassan Ali recently?

He bowled okay today. Still prefer him to the terrible Shaheen.

Despite no wickets for a long time, his last 2-3 overs were pretty good at the death roday.

His early bowling was awful and nearly cost us the game. His last few overs on the other hand were very good. Unfortunately due to his height he's very limited as a bowler if he doesn't get lateral movement. But at the very least he can't concede runs and must keep a tight line and length and restrict the opposition's scoring. Otherwise bring in the newbie.

I will still have him in the first eleven over toddlers Shaheen and Hasnain who have no business playing this WC.

That being said Hasan really needs to get his mojo back. Perhaps watch videos of what he was doing on these same grounds in CT17.

He did bowl good today but the guy has been terrible with his line and length. You see him bowling good length balls and out of no where he bowls that one short pitch which makes a good over into a bad one. He was a our killer bowler, a wicket taker.

Is it something with the coaching he has been getting?

tbh...something interesting was once said by Junaid Khan in an interview.Cant quite find it though.
It was back when Junaid was being touted as the second coming of Wasim Akram and he had performed splendidly against India (2013) and there was this bowling camp for pacers before departing for the CT in England.
He said that the bowling coach ,this Azhar Mahmood (?),told them to pitch the ball shorter so that it has more room to seam ie bigger deviation by the time it reaches the batsman.

Needs to be dropped - bring in either Shaheen or Hasnain. Think he done ok but still going at runs per over, not getting wickets - lost his touch. Maybe dropping him will make him hungrier - his pace is down too!

Last chance against Sri Lanka, if he can't perform against arguably the weakest team of the World Cup, then he needs to be dropped for Shaheen Afridi.

He was OK and provided some variations toward the end but far from his best.

Feels like he needs one big performance so we see the real Hasan Ali again.

He was pretty good today, his death bowling was great and he was a tad unlucky. I'm sure we'll see him get 2-3 wickets vs Sri Lanka.

He should plan his over as:

1- Back of length ball ending up on off stump/4th stump
2- Full length ball ending up on off stump/4th stump
3- Bouncer above chest high, aiming the head but at off stump line.
4- Yorker ball in the block hole, aiming off stump (not full toss, it should bounce at the toes/just before stumps.
5- Bouncer above chest high, aiming the head but at off stump line.
6- Full length ball on off stump/4th stump

It doesn't matter if he swings it. At 140kph, the above 6 deliveries can prove to be a handful if done accurately

I think he bowled a fantastic second spell. He is a game away from a big performance.

first time ive seen him shape the ball back in in ages, needs to just get the confidence to pitch up a bit more to target the stumps. if he can get back into the knack of picking up a few wickets through the middle overs will put massive pressure on opps.

Looked a bit more like his old self today Bowled a lot better

His last few overs were spot on Its fair to say he prefers bowlin with the old ball than new Hope he kicks on in the next game now

Another example why stats don't necessarily tell the whole story. Hasan has a poor recent record, but come the big match and the high pressure situation and he stepped up. He is a fierce competitor and won't wilt under pressure like some parcel tape bowlers I could mention.

Bowled well against England he was unlucky not to get a wicket.. Let's hope he stays focused

Needs to be shown the door after this World Cup. There’s no excuses for how pathetic he’s been for the last 18 months.

Stats don't tell the whole story, but they do tell the story that matters. All other stories are subjective.

He has done similar job for Australia what Warner did for India. Completely destroyed his own team with his pathetic bowling. Shameless attitude needs to be sent back home. Is having some personal issues with the team management.

Wayward and overpitching whenever Amir got the breakthrough from one end this bloke gave easy runs to Aussies esp. Warner to release the pressure.

Seems to have forgotten how to pitch the ball in the same place.

People don’t want to accept the truth. He’s just too short and too slow. Reminds me of Indian trundlers like Mohanty, etc from the 90s.

He was good in the last match even though his numbers were pretty bad.

In this match he was decent upfront, poor in the middle and OK in the last few.

If he's been trash for over a year then you know he's a trash bowler and was only good for a few months.

Take a look at Mohammad Amir who was as bad if not worse than Hasan but since he's a gun player he raised his game.

Always was a terrible bowler, atleast he got his first wicket of a World Cup and that too of a tailender.

The consistency is missing. He needs to hit the same line and length repeatedly. He's been a little all over the place recently.

If this was Amir getting hit for this many runs and getting no wickets, there would of been protests to get him dropped. I like Hasan but if he's bowling rubbish like he has been lately he needs to go. This WC should be his last chance before he's dropped from the squad/

Can Pakistan really afford to drop a player that can score 30+?

Yes it's not like we've scored 340+ 4 times in our last 7 games. Our bowling has been beastly though guys like Hasan out here restricting teams to 300+ in every single game possible.

How I wish we had Shinwari in our squad right now. Hasan Ali has been given a thousand chances but he's just been awful. He will surely be dropped soon and won't be back for some time I think. Such a sad demise for someone who at one stage was a world beater.

Apparently he is a better hitter than Asif Ali. I would keep him as a mini allrounder to be honest.

Gun Player? First match he performs and hes a gun player

Wah Ji Wah

Hated the way he was bowling wide of crease and targeting leg stump and bowling outside leg. Get him out of team ASAP. Hasnain and naseem Shah need grooming

Lol I was joking, I know Hasan's been too poor the past year.

Sorry but no, there are very few in this team who works hard. He is fit, he has potential & he is a hard working player. All he need is to ignore Azhar.

Drop him for a series or 2. It will make him work even harder. Seems to have worked for Amir.

I think he's burnt out. I would give Husnain a shot over Hassan vsIndia

I disagree with both points. He's had a whole month off after the PSL. I would not play Hasnain a single game in this tournament, except maybe against Afghanistan, Hasnain is way too raw and inaccurate.

What was the point of selecting him and not selecting Usman Shinwari then? We literally wasted a spot then.

Hasnain needs to play.

I didn't select the teams so I don't know why I'm being asked. I would've picked Shinwari myself, but now that Hasnain is here, the best we could do is not play him.

Might as well give him a shot vs the minnows.

Can't do worse than Hasan who has been smashed so far.

Plus when Hasnain did play he played on the phattas prepared by ECB. He might come in handy on the current ICC prepared pitches.

Hasnain played against Australia in the UAE as well. He can definitely do worse than Hasan Ali. Hasan is at least a pretty decent death bowler, he has a lot of variety with slower balls. Hasnain doesn't have that, and can hardly land 2 balls in the same spot in a spell, let alone an over.

However I may still give him a shot against Afghanistan and maybe Bangladesh as they tend to struggle against genuine quicks.

I would rather make him all rounder like razzaq, such a clean hitter.
For that we need a decent domestic setup where players are given the opportunity and facilities to improve in other facets of their game. For him to become a decent bat he needs opportunities in FC cricket where he’s allowed to build an innings and learn the art of batting. Unfortunately our FC setup is such that even specialist batsmen are struggling to understand how to bat so there is no hope for the likes of Hasan go develop their batting further.

He is doing the job we wanted Faheem to do.

If he can average 25+ with the bat, he plays as a genuine all-rounder.

The guy is seriously short on confidence these days which has affected his ability to think clearly.
He seems confused wjere to bowl to which batsman

He needs a break, needs to be 'dropped' and not rested. Sarfaraz was going mad telling him to pitch the ball up, but he was still continuing with short pitch stuff on the legs, he needs to go and chill for some time, drop him for India and South Africa game, then get him back for the Afghan game

At present he’s worst bowler we have

He has nothing going for him as a bowler

I thought he bowled ok today. His pace is ok. Will always be a skiddy bowler who angles it in so is quite one dimensional and prone to angling it too far down leg but he’s been like this for years. We forget that he is still new to the game. 2 years is nothing. Good to see him whack the ball but really wished he’s learn from Australia and be there till the end with Sarfaraz.

I wish we had a batsman like Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz, I would open them the innings. Both have performed better than Tamim overrated Iqbal

Clearly struggling with confidence. He needs couple of good games to get his mojo back.

Alright enough of that!

Fed up of so called Bangladesh fans like yourself ridiculing our players and team. Also stop kissing up to the neighbouring teams. You are embarrasing yourself and the rest of us.

I think we are embarrassing ourselves by being satisfied with little achievement. Mashrsfee with his 120 kph bowling has been gifted Member of Parliament, we all know it wasn’t a fair election and now fans like you think he has achieved everything in cricket. He hasn’t even won an Asia Cup, let alone a World Cup. He gets a free license in the team as he has done a lot for cricket, what has he done ?

Because of minnow mentality fans we Have a Mashrafee not an Imran Khan. A hack with both ball and bat and a liability in the field.

Oh and enjoy Tamim dancing down the wicket like a chicken after blocking 20 balls and scoring a duck. Only in a country like Bangladesh we hail losers like Tamim, Mashrafee, Mushfiq as big 5 :yk

Neighbouring countries have won World Cup and they have match winners. Whom do we have apart from Shakib? Oh Mashrafee MP :inti
