What's new

[VIDEOS] What has happened to Hassan Ali recently?

Indians still burning about the celebration at the Wagah Border... :)))

Has lost some pace.
His pace was absolutely fine, was comfortably our quickest bowler today. That average speed has been pulled down because pretty much all of his final two overs consisted of slower balls.

What you see now is the real Hassan Ali. A lot of players shine in their first year. People who sustain that form are champs. The novelty that Hassan had is over. Nothing more than a mediocre or at best, above average bowler at times.

It's a bit harsh but probably true. He is looking extremely ordinary nowadays. But I would give him the benefit of doubt due to UAE pitches. We should give him rest for the next UAE series so that he can get his act together and work on his weaknesses.

Don't think he has stamina and fitness to be a Test bowler.Struggled massively in the second test in England itself.
Is that one innings the end all be all of his entire test career? You seem to bring it up a lot.

Ok. He just doesn't seem to have the same venom he used to. So is it the lack of swing you think?

Your not going to get swing after 10+ overs in the UAE.

I think it’s just a slump in form. Every player goes through it, it’s phases like these that make or break players- you can come out a better bowler or continue going downhill.

Hasan should be fine. Not the world beater but decent enough to hold on to his place in the Pakistani team.

Its not that he will never perform. He will. But he will be hot and cold. Not exactly what the people thought.

Just two bowlers have performed in this tournament, one being a kid [Shaheen Afridi] and the other making his first start of the tournament [Junaid].

The rest have been mediocre and at times atrocious.

Hasan Ali has not been the same bowler after his injury.

Same as what happens to all our youngsters. Get caught up with the money, fame, adulation and lose the incentive to work hard continuously on their games. Much needed reality check

A bit of advice.

Knuckle down and cut out the nonsense. Focus on cricket and cricket only.

Fame and fortune will come, but cricket should be the priority.

Not getting any better Hasan - will lose his place if this goes on.

he desperately need this advise

He's been below par in this series.

A few lapses whilst fielding also.

T20s have never been his best format but his ODI form has been worrying recently.

Could you elaborate?

Absolutely.
Although I do feel he is not suited to T20is. Rumman would be the ideal option who could be a permanent fixture in the t20 team, if not for his injuries.

I guess T20i performances shouldn't give a complete picture of a bowler's form, but he was woeful in Asia Cup. Seems like he is not focusing on improving rather has gotten a bit stale and predictable.

To be fair to him, he came back well in the last couple of overs he bowled.

Looked fired up and bowled very senisbly.

Needs to be more humble.

Too often players' egos come in and they lose focus on how they got there.

Too much star mentality too fast instead of focus on your craft.

Gets too much hate, he's not gonna be getting 3-4 wickets every game. He's still our best bowler.

Looks like he is sending a message to someone - any guesses? :)

thought he was the best fast bowler on display in the series

Hasssan needed rest, i hope we dont burn out out players before next world cup

Good to see him thump his chest again after turning into a kitten in the Asia Cup. Another mentally weak Pakistani player who bolts under pressure. Shame.

Yes I know he was the player of the tournament in the Asia Cup, but he was largely an unknown quantity at that time. However, now that he has built up a reputation for himself and people expect him to deliver, he has started to crumble under pressure.

So we are going to assume he is mentally weak based on one poor tournament ? Amazing

Champions Trophy*

The mystery factor has wore out. Everyone knows his strength and weakness now. And other teams are too professional to make their homework. He won't be as effective as he was earlier.

What mystery factor is there with Hasan Ali?

He's just not very good at keeping runs down. When he gets the odd ball wrong he gets smashed. And when he doesn't pick up wickets, he's not good as he's reliant on that. Which is why he's a worse T20 bowler especially.

In T20s his economy is just under 8 which is pretty bad. Even his ODI average, his economy is pretty high at 5.2.

The best ODI fast bowlers can usually do both take wickets and keep runs down. Needs to improve his accuracy and learn to bowl in good places more consistently without the bad balls. So he will build pressure for his team mates so they can take wickets when he can't. ATM it's completely the reverse, he's very much reliant on his team mates to dry up the runs so he can attack.

It is quite incredible how you manage to come up with absurd posts on a daily basis. Quite an achievement.

Hasan is a bit timid, but who isn't in the Pakistan team? Only Hafeez and Imad are tough.

Really worried about him recently. Before I always thought "Maybe Hasan Ali can save us" but now he can be a liability.

How long before Hasan Ali is dropped?

This guy has started to believe his hype. And, his antics at the border.

He's been worse than Faheem.

This decline is worrying. Suddenly our pacers are becoming one of our weaker suits. Needs to be dropped for Faheem next game.

Needs to be dropped. Has been taken things for granted of late

Hopefully not very long. Needs to be brought down back to earth. Think he might get next match and if that doesn't go well then he will be dropped.

His head is in the clouds because of a stellar 2017. All the cringeworthy celebrations, pathetic antics at the border etc.

The thrashing that he received at the hands of India in the Asia Cup should have humbled him, but I am afraid not.

The chain he's wearing lol.

May be because we don't see that celebration quite often, so he's wearing for fans so that they can see the celebration.

I know this guy has underperformed but see his stats in odis avg of 22 is great & with few underperformance people are already talking about dropping him and here we have bhuvi who has pathetic avg of 40 and still no one talks about dropping him.

In 8 ODIs this year against nonminnows, he averages 53 with the ball with an ER of 6.45.

Should have been dropped today. Needs a rest, just like Amir did.

Bring these guys back for the tour of South Africa and give hungrier, fresher bowlers like Junaid, Faheem, Usman and Shaheen a chance until then.

Pretty soon...... he is not paying attention to his game. That was my fear last year about Shadab and Hasan. Fame is getting into their head, at this point in their career they need to comeup with deliveries/ideas.

Its a cat/mouse game these days between batsmen and bowler. If you show glimpse of greatness teams will work on you and figure it out. So as a bowler you need to constantly up your game, which Hasan is not doing for sure.

Why is it that only our players suffer from this superstar syndrome. Why can't they just put their head down and work as hard as they did to get to the side.

I would give him this series (no point thinking of dropping him now) and at the end of the series see if his stats are good enough to keep him in the side or not
If not, send him back to play domestic cricket for a while and like Amir re-earn his position in the side

Side note- sad to see Amir going to play in the T10 league, should have carried on focusing on performing in domestic and then earning a call back to the National side

India can afford to play Bhuvi because other bowlers are proven match winners. Whereas Hasan is supposed to be a senior bowler on whom Pak can rely to win matches.

BTW, Bhubi is hot trash in ODIs, he shouldn't even play for India B team. He is possibly the worst ODI bowler in any top team in the world.

Amir may be sure he will be back that’s why. I hope he gets dropped for SA series as well.

This is the biggest problem with our board and our fans, instead of backing players we drop them. Yes his performances frustrate the hell out of me but he's 24 years old, he will learn from this and become better. Learn to support your players and back them.

Need him to stick with the team, get us that match winning spell vs India in the WC next year and do his celebration one more time like the Wagah Border Inshallah.

Just got an Adidas contract and has that nice flashy chain around his neck. Give him 50 more matches and he will attain Shahid Afridi status. Then he becomes undroppable. A national hero.
It sounds like Dhoni these days.

Looks like batsmen have got used to his bowling and his lengths are quite hittable in the death overs. His pace is down as well and occasionally hits over 140k's. He was getting the ball to reverse in CT 2017 when he was unplayable. Now he is not getting the ball to reverse as well.

Shinwari and Jumaid seems to be better than Hasan Ali at the moment.

He is not being managed well. Firstly, he should bowl 2 to 3 overs with the new ball and then he should complete his 10 overs quota within 40th over or 45th over max. His length is very hittable in death overs and his short height makes it worse.

He needs some time off. He is performing like a shadow of his 2017 self these days. Must be exhausted.

Why did Hassan bowl when Shaheen should have been bowling?
Its a crime that Shaheen didnt bowl his full qouta. Hassan is good in the middle of the innings
