"Mohammad Rizwan sucked up all the oxygen": Jarrod Kimber
Jarrod Kimber reviewed Pakistan's loss to India in the ICC Champtions Trophy, 2025. In it, he also deep dives into Rizwan's slooooow approach, which I have segmented in a separate video.
In it, he makes the case that he is just too slow. This we know already, but when it's plotted on graphs, it is just a lot more apparent and starteling to see. He also points out that when Rizwan attacks, he is too reckless because he is not a natrually attacking player and is more vulnerable when he deems it time to step up. In this approach, he just sucks up all the oxygen from the innings leaving everyone under pressure.
In the past, this approach may have worked because we had a lower order capable of hitting. But these days, our lower order also struggles to find the boundary.
What is interesting to me is that there is a lot of mainstream media now exposing the slow approach of Riz-Bar. And so many pundits have also criticized them. Something that was almost sacred a year ago. But now it's reaching a breaking point.
After Babar's 64 (90) against New Zealand and Rizwan's 46 (77) against India, I wonder if their days are now numbered in the white-ball format.
