The verbal volleys between Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Kaif have added extra spice ahead of the T20 World Cup final. Kaif’s jab that Amir talks about India “just to stay in the news” clearly struck a nerve, with Amir firing back that he doesn’t need India to remain relevant.

This isn’t just about two ex-cricketers trading barbs—it’s about pride, perception, and the power of narrative in cricket’s biggest rivalry. Amir has been vocal throughout the tournament, dissecting India’s performances, while Kaif’s counterpunch suggests he sees it as attention-seeking.

Mohammad Kaif speaking during an interview on Social media:

“In the last World Cup, Pakistan lost against the USA just because of him [Mohammad Amir]. He bowled 3 wides. It is not that you got hit for 18 runs. In that over, he conceded only one boundary, but the batters ran 3 on overthrows and bowled too many wides. He [Mohammad Amir] got scared against the USA batters, and his deliveries did not even land on the stumps. So, a bowler who got scared against that USA, a team that was playing its first World Cup, he bowled against them and made his side lose the game? I don't have to say more."

Mohammad Amir responding to Mohammad Kaif on his YouTube channel:

"I don't know about his cricketing career, how much he has played. I checked his stats; he played only 29 matches in the IPL. He has a strike rate of 103 (103.60). He said I was speaking about India to gain attention. Firstly, I don't need attention by speaking about India. Mr. Kaif, I have played 350 T20s; you can check my stats.”

"Main bas fielding pe cricket nahi khela (I didn't play cricket just because of my fielding). I played after giving performances. Aap Dada ko thank you boliye (You should be thankful to Saurav Ganguly, who was your captain). I have heard that you played cricket only because of your fielding."

Kaif didn't sell his country for a few bucks.

Mohammad Amir is a convicted spot fixer.

Much of what is wrong with Pakistan cricket, could be attributed to the DISASTER OF 2010 Spotfixing scandal. We were embarrassed and literally never recovered from it if you think of it seirously.

A player who himself had hardly a noticeable career should not try to use any other cricketers cricketing ability as an insult.

There was enough subject matter against Amir that Kaif could have used against him, but calling him a darpok bowler or bringing his performance against the USA was a bad choice. Kaif just gave Amir an easy target and got shot down.

I wouldn't have the courage to talk like that if I were a convicted criminal and a sellout. Amir probably still sees himself as the victim of the world.

Kaif was a fabulous player. Tremendous fielder who could bat well down the order.

Unfortunately played during a very difficult era where the batting depth India has was quality.

A convicted criminal now making fun of another player for giving his best. Obviously Amir doesn’t know how to give his best to his country unless money involved. Only a board like PCB will keep third rate individuals like Amir anywhere around their cricket after selling their country for money

Thing is amir is shameless, even spending time in jail hasnt given him. Any shame

Amir's prediction in this world cup

1. West Indies will beat India in virtual Quarter final - India wins
2. England will beat India in semi finals - India wins
3. India will beat NZ in Final - Still India wins

Now he probably would say 'I Still believe Indian team cannot win PSL'.

:klopp :kp

Amir has triggered PTSD amongst Indians from the trauma of ‘17.

There, there, it’s ok. You just win a trophy, remember? It’s ok go back to sleep

Washed up amir is still better than current 95 percent india and pakistan domestic bowlers....

Mohammed Amir isn’t wrong, is he though? Who the heck remembers Kaif? I thought it was Katrina Kaifs brother or something! Completely forgot about this guy the only thing as one mentioned which came to mind was that natwest final as natwest series was quite a thing in the past.

Love how slimy amir fans steal credit from other players

Ali was the man of the series. Junaid performed every match while amir was missing. Fakhar made team reach a score never ever reached in a big final. A score of 300+ has never been chased in a ct or world cup final ever in history.

Even zimbabwe or Netherlands bowlers would have won after 340 was target

But but amir won it. But but amir PTSD.

How slimy do you have to be to not just steal credit in general but your own teams hard working players who actually won the match and series.

But then those supporting a convicted fixer who sold his country never had morals in the first place. If you ever want to know why the two countries trajectory changed since the 90s, just look at the mentality. India shunned their fixers, pakistan embraced them, you can talk about money all you want but nothing replaces discipline compared to short cuts and short term thinking

Amir's legacy is built on the back of a Fakhar Zaman innings.

Nope. :inti

Amir played a vital role in 2009 World T20 final. He got rid of Dilshan in the first over.

After that, he did well in England.

Even in 2017 CT final, he got rid of Rohit, Kohli, and Dhawan. That effectively killed off India's chase.

Don't be salty. :inti

Honestly felt Amir was just sharing his opinion. He’s typically unbiased and shares good analysis (compared to Akhtar, Saqlain, etc.).

While I am choosing not to respond, I would like to say that this is a fair rebuttal.

Be like this more often - and elevate the Bangladeshi discourse on the forum.

Put some respect on Mohammad Kaif’s name.

Across his 125 ODI innings Kaif has a better batting average than Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Shan Masood, Asad Shafiq, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Haris.

He is within striking distance (around 2 points or less) of Ahmad Shehzad, Salim Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammed Hafeez, Ijaz Ahmed.

Kaif also has that career defining contribution - That 87 in the NatWest Series final won us the game.

Kaif was a supreme fielder at a time when our standards were not that high. And that was indeed his outstanding feature.

It is a good burn from the ex-convict. I’ll give Amir that.

But it’s an exaggeration.

Also played a good innings in 2003 world cup game against Pakistan

Played 350 t20s and yet known only for match fixing in another format kaif would rather be known for his fielding

They just didn't play one tournament and you completely forgot Bangladeshi players and your nationality. It's ok to forget kaif 🤣🤣
