[VIDEOS] "You will now see a different Fakhar Zaman"

Another failure for the 'world class' opener. Seriously this guy is a hack who is still playing thanks to the no ball dismisal in the CT final. We need to find an opener who is consistent. We don't need a rich man's Afridi opening the batting for us. Fakhar is simply not good enough.

How can Fakhar be a rich mans Afridi?
Fakhar is a rich mans Awais Zia.

Knew he would struggle against Mujeeb but thought he could at least survive 2 balls. Very disappointing.

Afridi is a huge better than him. He was a good bowler, good fielder and very aggressive opener.

Hack will remain a hack, despite a good small period in the middle.

Should've persisted with Abid in the cup, but :inzi had other plans. :najam

Every team needs a hack. We already have enough accumulators.

Averaging 40 at SR of 92 against top 5 ODI sides is something genuinely useless hacks like Afridi and Zia could only achieve if playing a computer game.

He has been even worse than Hafeez in this WC which says something.

He is a big worry. They don't have any replacement so he will play.

I still dream of Babar opening the batting and scoring massive tons.

I don't mind hacks if they're able to do their role. Hit and score.

He can't do that, that's the worry. Too many weaknesses which are now being fully exploited, not resulting in any score.

Amd do we have Mohammed Sharma and Ali Warner sitting on the bench to call up in this squad ?

Gone the Umar Akmal way unfortunately. Should be treated the same way now. I can't believe I am saying this, but he is the opener who should be dropped for at least a year.

very different ... making sure there was not even 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance left of a pakistani win.. should be jailed for this batting... 13 of 30 and then getting out ...

You have to be exceptionally gifted to makeup for a pathetic technique. People who downplay the importance of technique and only focus on stats need to understand this.

A different Fakhar Zaman indeed. Haven't seen him out get out for a SR of under 50 for a while. He really has changed!

Fakhar Bhai and Hassan Bhai, please go back to domestic cricket and improve!

I have at times wished Bumrah hadn't bowled that no ball. It wouldn't have resulted in consecutive selection of an afridi like player, who is no good in the field.

People taking exceptional circumstances as evidence against the utility of stats fail to recognize that outside a bipolar world that they live in, there exists are sweet middle spot where a player can have both good technique and mouth-watering stats. Cases-in-focus Babar and Haris.

He has been in the team for the last two years just of the basis of that fluke century in CT against India. I hope I never see him in the team again

I can see Sharjeel coming back and replace him. Imam is going nowhere it seems.

He's warming your seat Sharjeel

for all the people cheering for Sharjeel, I hope they remember his fitness and fielding.

Pull the other one.

The guy is lacking correct technique. He needs to go back to and improve his skills and try again in a few years.

Time to kick him out for his negative antics and terribly exposed technique.

Enough of minnow bashing. International cricket exposure and riches have got to his HEAD and in last 2 years he has not improved his game one bit.

It’s time to work on Sharjeel and Ahsan’s fitness at NCA and bring back Shan Masood who scored a fifty in his last Odi against Australia at a healthy SR.

No use of wrists in his technique. And his game against spin is deteriorating very fast. Teams have worked him out

He hardly bashes minnows, averages about 40+ against top sides. He has also improved against the short ball.
He is working on his weaknesses and is looking to improve. We should persist with him.

Although my personal opinion is that it’s time to drop Sarfraz as player and not just as keeper but we must not forget that Sarfraz wanted Shan Masood to be Selected as 3rd Opener for WC

According to our part time cricket expert and full time halwai topspin Fakhar is already better than Tamim Iqbal who has almost 7000 runs in ODI cricket.

Fakhar has achieved more than Tamim. His stats are far better than his, in terms of average and impact i.e. runs and strike rate respectively. He was the best batsman in the last ICC tournament and was a man of the match in a big stage final.

Tamim can only dream to accomplish the above. Sample size is irrelevant when he has merely accomplished long-term mediocrity in the ODI format, as evident by the fact that in his 13 years of ODI cricket, he has only managed to strike it in excess of 80 in just 4 of those calendar years, so let that sink in for a second.

If Tamim was playing for a better side, he wouldn't have had the opportunities to get 7,000 ODI runs, so I have to go back to what I have always suspected with you, as a novice reader of the game.

100% disappointed with Fakhar's World cup performance.

JazaakAllah kheir topspin bhaee.

Really sad about Pakistan’s team exit :-(

Me too it hurts, especially when you consider England to be historically Pakistan's happy hunting ground and the fact we have to wait another 4 years.

I was in my nappies when Pakistan won it in 92, but in sha Allah, we will see Pakistan lift the cup at least once in our viewing lifetime.

If everything goes according to plan, next WC should be ours.

I don't want to come across as pessimistic, however I can only see one winner in 2023 and it will belong to the hosts. In those conditions, the likes of Kul-cha will be at their prime and they will produce the best batsmen for their home conditions.

Also, Pakistan have never gone past the semis in an ICC comp. held in Asia. I know our current side aren't very good, but I had a glimmer of hope in this WC they could at least make the semis and perhaps surprise us from there.

I don't see Pakistan winning it until 2027 at the very least.

InshaAllah.

Off topic but 3,4 catches we dropped of Warner & Finch cost us the Aussie game along with Imam’s terrible dismissal and Sarfraz’s tailender’s esque innings. Especially those dropped catches.

I agree, can't believe we couldn't a capitalise on Australia's off-day. It seems we always have a mental block whenever we play against them, for e.g. our test losing streak in Australia is just so embarrassing.

Yes, I do see a very different FZ, one who lacks the skill and tempament to open the Pak innings and one who I can see on his way out after the WC

Yes India will be favourites but Indian conditions are not too different from that of Pakistan. We managed to reach semifinal of 2011 with a mediocre team simply because of familiar conditions.

Shadab, Zafar, Shaheen, Babar, Hassan will be much improved cricketers by then and there are plenty of young talented fast bowlers coming through the system.

If we can find a spin attack which can match Hafeez, Ajmal and Afridi, I will find hope, especially if Virat is past his prime by then :))

Ali haider should be in the team within the year. Fakhar hasnt improved one bit since his debut.

Hasnt added one shot. Not one within 2 years.

Fakhar was a big failure up top, trash opener, hit and miss more of a walking wicket.

Horrible tournament.

He's looked clueless and never comfortable at the crease throughout the tournament.

There are some basic and obvious problems with his batting and he needs to sort them out asap, if he doesn't he's a goner.

How many times have we repeated that sentence?

He’s not going to re-learn and adjust a technique he’s played with for years.

I would try a younger player whom the coaching staff can mould.

Hack topspin

Imam out performed him.

Needs to be dropped.

Started his career in England and now the end of his career will be in England as well if he doesn't work on his game.

"You will now see a different Fakhar Zaman"

He was quite a force till very recently, but it seems Fakhar´s game has been found and he has been worked out by the international bowling attacks. Even during the very prolific ICC Champions Trophy 2017, it was always apparent that technique was never his strength. I remember he was hit on the head quite a few times back then as well due to the technique that he has.

He´s very likely to keep on playing due to the lack of options that Pakistan have, but dear God, we don´t want another Malik! He needs to work on his temperament on immediate basis, because I don´t think that your whole technique can be sorted out so late into your career. Also, he must bring good running into his game to keep the scoreboard ticking if no boundaries are on offer.

Quite disappointed with his performance. Almost looked like a nobody who seems to have sleep-walked the whole tournament.

Interesting insights, would you happen to know if anyone has pointed out constructive ways Fakhar can improve his batting and he has chosen to ignore them or is it just a case of him not knowing what he needs to work on?

With the greatest of respect pal, it's sad that we have use a dead rubber ton merely to score points here. It saddens me even more that you had to bring up "Tamim > Fakhar" just to score points for that novice Indian poster, who once claimed Rahul > Babar as a batsman in ODIs.

Before today's dead rubber, Imam was averaging 25 at a strike rate below 70, which shows he failed when it mattered the most. I have been saying this even before the WC, that he was never ready to playing in this tournament, but he's been fortunate to have someone in his family as Chief Selector.

If we want to turn this into a Fakhar v Imam debate, I would suggest not bashing the former, he has accomplished far more than what the latter has to date. Fakhar was the best batsman in the CT and played clutch knocks from his 1st match against SA to his most heroic one in the final. Imam can only dream of having such a tournament and whilst they have both achieved one ton in ICC comps. I'll take Fakhar's CT final winning hundred over a cheap dead rubber ton any day of the week.

Whilst I have no issues if Fakhar is dropped, he is still ahead when it comes to ODI and career accomplishments with the bat thus far and it wouldn't surprise if it stays that way.

Since Asia Cup he has played 26 matches , has an average of 29.34 and SR of 89.23

He deserves to be dropped after this WC

Welcome back bro. Ahsan Ali q itna acha lagta hai? He's not the one. I'd rather try Umar Amin, who has actually improved his numbers from last time I saw.

Never rated him.was always like a German Awais Zia should be thrown in domestic with hands on head and _/\_ on shoulder

Not just batting he has looked lost in the field as well. How could he miss that Rohit run out? Could have been game changer for Pakistan. He is really not in the mood of improving his batting or fielding.

Took an excellent catch in Bangladesh game.

Did you watch all his PSL innings ? It’s not just about numbers my friends.

Let Haider Ali first shine for Pak U-19 in WC than score against top pace tracks for Pakistan A. Than surely he should be picked.

Clear and obvious weaknesses that opposition bowlers have identified.

Back to the drawing board for Fakhar.

Yes I did, and I also watched Umar Amin when his numbers were terrible, but he was fluid and a treat to watch. We can try him in T20, but that is it bro.

Fakhar has always had a poor technique, but he made up for it in-terms of strong temperament. Unfortunately, he looked mentally down for some odd reason in this WC. Shaking his head all the time, and having that dejected look on his face while at the crease.

This just wasn't the free flowing Fakhar Zaman we have previously seen. He had the same issues in the Asia Cup, only to score useful runs in the subsequent NZ series. I believe he is another victim of the 'mental weakness' syndrome we have prevalent in our team.

Yeah since the Asia cup he has been mentally shot. Clear to see from his body language. But I think we have to move on. We got a CT from him but he's not good enough basically.

If we want Pakistan to challenge top teams, he needs to be replaced. Top bowlers know where to bowl to him can stop him scoring. In this era , you need to be able to play 360 degrees versus pace and spin which he cannot. Don't expect him to get better with age. I thank him for the CT final but Pakistan cricket needs to move on and not be sentimental.

Spot on. Playing him will cost us big time.
