His form may have deserted him but he was still globally in the Top 5 batsman for most runs scored in T20s.

He should not have gone on the New Zealand tour. Need to spend time in the middle and work on his game which is not something one can do in t20 cricket.

Not claiming he’ll solve our wicket taking spin options, he won’t - but a quick look at his figures across formats...and he appears decent, especially the economy - is it inflated perhaps by bowling against minnows...?

It could help us get another batsman into our LOI sides if he bowls 2 overs in t20 and 5 in ODIs as one of our 5th/6th bowlers.

One thing Pakistan do not have shortage of is bowling options. Getting through 50 overs hasn't been an issue anytime recently at all. Zaman just isn't needed.

Is his bowling sufficient for him to offer more value as an all rounder than say Shadab? Zaman is still a very decent LOI bat, even if he isn’t in the Roy/Bairstow/Finch conversation and if you add that he can bowl half or a full quota maybe...

I’d rather see Zaman come in lower down and try to do damage, than say Ifthikar or Asif Ali, he is simply a better bat than both, and he can bowl.

Zaman averages 48 in LA and 45 in ODI's. Given our pathetic batting stocks a man with those stats needs to be spending as much time in the middle as possible rather than sent out to average a quick 20-30 off 18 balls.

Agreed. Not everyone does with his batting, I also think his record deserves acknowledgement given our standards. My point though is that him also bowling, wherever he bats, should free up potential for another batsman in the XI for the T20WC.

When he's bad he's really bad. Mickey Arthur's story that Fakhar was even missing throwdowns in the nets prior to his CT17 appearances springs to mind.

He always bounces back so let's see how long it takes.

This. Fakhar does better in SENA. In addition, Fakhar is NOT an explosive batsman suited to T20s. He’s a glorified anchor and does better when he starts slower, which is why he is better suited to ODIs.
