[VIDEOS] Your thoughts on Krunal Pandya?

Krunal Pandya broke down after hitting a fifty on his ODI debutHardik Pandya was seen consoling older brother Krunal at innings break

Krunal Pandya failed to control his emotions after a scintillating knock of 58 not out on his One-day International (ODI) debut against England in Pune on Tuesday. After helping India post a fighting total of 317 for five from their allotted 50 overs, Krunal was asked to have a word with commentators about his performance with the bat. Former India cricketer Murali Kartik, now a commentator, asked him about his feelings but the Baroda all-rounder couldn't find words to express himself and broke down.

Krunal and KL Rahul took charge of the proceedings and put on an unbeaten 112-run stand for the sixth wicket.

In the process, Krunal became the fastest batsman to score a half-century on his ODI debut.

He reached the milestone in just 26 balls. KL Rahul, who was struggling for runs in the T20Is against England, found his form back and remained unbeaten on 62.

For England, Ben Stokes was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of three for 34 from his eight-over spell.

Mark Wood also picked up a couple of wickets.

What was the date of that interview? A weird statement by Hardik considering Krunal made his T20I debut in 2018.

2017. From what I remember Krunal Pandya had made big in IPL. It was one of those YouTube shows Shoaib akhtar , Kohli etc have appeared in.

It was all obv light hearted

Also didn’t know krunal pandya been around in international cricket since 2018.

Krunal should look to develop his batting, because from my observations, his bowling is perhaps only useful in T20 cricket. He's like a darter, similar to Imad, but a more capable batsman.

He was also emotional when he was given his first cap before the match.

If he was Pakistani, he would be considered a special talent and would milk this performance for years.

In India, he will get dropped a few matches later and no one would care and hype him up. Different standards.

He is far better than Shadab and also better than Imad and Nawaz.

Maybe we should ask Ben Stokes if he agrees :)))

Never rated the guy, but the innings is worth watching again . High quality knock, no hacks ..reminded me of Yuvi a bit. Not sure if it's one off, but I dint see him capable of an innings like this ..either I got that wrong completely or hes improved a lot

It's just one off game, but am not sure which one now . May be I was not wrong about him lol

Last 5 years :
Nawaz T20 economy Rate : 6.24
Krunal : 8.11
Jadeja : 7.71
Sundar :7.24
Sir Chahal : 8.40

Imad Wasim : 6.17 Quite confortably the best ER in the world.
Indian spinner in LOI's are probably tcompeting for being the worst, so comparing them to Imad in T20 is non sense.

Again, your only argument is "If"

Bowling pies after pies in his second ever match. If he's only there for his batting, shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

LSG vs MI, IPL 2022: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar slammed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner, Krunal Pandya, for giving Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Kieron Pollard a bizarre send-off during Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Pollard, who had little choice other than to go after Pandya in the last over, mistimed his lofted shot and was caught at long-on.

As soon as the catch was completed by Deepak Hooda, Pandya jumped on Pollard’s back and planted a kiss on his head. The West Indian, however, did not react and walked off the field after getting dismissed visibly upset for failing to take his side home. MI suffered their eighth straight loss as LSG successfully defended a competitive score of 168.

Reacting to that incident, Gavaskar said that such things should happen once the game gets over and Pandya was lucky that Pollard didn’t react to his send-off.

“No. No. He is not going to like it. However, good friends you are. That has to happen when the game gets over. Lucky that Pollard didn’t do anything,” said Gavaskar during commentary on Star Sports.

“I was so thankful that I got his (Pollard) wicket otherwise he would have eaten my brain throughout my life because he got me out and now that it’s 1-1 at least he will speak less,” Pandya said after the match got over.

Pollard scored 19 off 20 balls in the run-chase as MI failed to get over the line, ending their innings at 132 for 8 in 20 overs. LSG won the match by 36 runs and have now climbed up to the fourth spot in the points table, with 5 wins and 3 losses.

Yikes, that's an extremely weird thing to do. A lot of the new indian players think they're more than they actually are which leads them to do dumb stuff like this, someone needs to tell them life isn't a Bollywood movie.

Cadbury should use this clip for one of their "Kuch meetha ho jaaye" advertisements. :inti

This is what cheap entertainment is all about. This is the same guy who was struggling to middle the ball in international cricket and look at his confidence in this clip lol. He and his brother try too hard to imitate West Indians lol. In India we call guys like them the Chapri Boys. :inti

Letting this guy into the national team might actually damage younger players who will start to think this type of behavior is acceptable. Krunal has also misbehaved in domestic cricket if I'm not wrong.

He is nowhere near Indian team now. Let him do these cheap things in IPL. :inti

Krunal would have been a better T20 player than Jadeja who has lost dozen of T20 World cups for India since 2009 onwards. Can't even recall how many has he played and flopped, perhaps flopped in all.

His batting and bowling both are awful in this format. His highest score in WT20 is 25 which he got of 35 balls in a game in World T20 and his bowling figures are inflated by 6 cheap wickets vs Nambia and Scotland last year.

Agree with this.

Jadeja doesn't fit into our T20 plans. And this has been proved beyond doubt so many times now. But he'll play for sure.

It was such a disastrous decision to make him CSK captain and it is showing in their results so far.

Yes, I had a check at his T20 World Cup stats and he has been outright bad in all departments. He has zero performances vs any of test playing nations in all his T20 World tournaments, starting from 2009 to 2021 and this is with either bat or bowl. He has two good bowling performances, both last year vs Scotland and Nambia and zero batting performance, his highest score is 25 which he got way back but faced 35 deliveries for that.

Some other guys definitely need a run in his place be it Krunal, Sundar or Axar.

Warwickshire sign India all-rounder Krunal Pandya for one-day campaign

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has announced the signing of India international all-rounder Krunal Pandya for the entire Royal London Cup campaign.

The 31-year-old left-arm spinner and batter made his ODI debut in 2021 against England, where he struck the fastest half-century (26 balls) in history by a debutant in ODI cricket.

Pandya has made 19 IT20 and five ODI appearances for India, to date. In total, he has featured in 76 List A matches scoring 2,231 runs at an average of 37 and taken 89 wickets.

The all-rounder has also been a regular in the IPL having represented Mumbai Indians and more recently Lucknow Super Giants.

Pandya said: “I’m really excited to get the opportunity to play county cricket and to join such a history Club as Warwickshire.

“Edgbaston is a special place to play cricket and I can’t wait to call it my home. I hope I can play my part in a success 50-over campaign with the Club.

Director of Cricket, Paul Farbrace said: “Krunal is an incredible signing for the Club, and I’m delighted to welcome him to Edgbaston.

“Krunal will bring a wealth of international experience to a team that will be desperate to do well.

“Due to our impressive T20 performances, we will lose players to The Hundred, but that’s always going to happen to successful teams.

“We believe this is a fantastic opportunity for our young players to learn from Krunal and I’m sure he will be excited to help them develop their skills too.

“The opportunity to add a world-renowned all-rounder to an exciting group is fantastic.”

Warwickshire will play eight group-stages matches, with four at home at Edgbaston, in this summer’s Royal London Cup competition, taking place from 2 to 23 August.

The top three counties at the end of the group stage progress to the knockout stages.

Out-of-favour India all-rounder Krunal Pandya's stint with English county side Warwickshire was cut short after he sustained a groin injury, forcing him out of the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup. The 31-year-old had picked up the injury while batting during Warwickshire's first innings against Nottinghamshire on August 17. The spinner didn't return to the field in the second essay. He was not part of the team for the next two games against Middlesex and Durham as well.

"Krunal Pandya will return to India this evening after receiving a diagnosis on the groin injury he sustained against the Notts Outlaws in the Royal London Cup," the club said in a statement on Monday.

Pandya, who had been roped in by the county team in July to play in the 50-over competition, played five games for Warwickshire in the ongoing tournament, scoring 134 runs at an average of 33.50 and also tok 9 wickets.

"It's frustrating to lose Krunal for the remainder of the tournament, but he leaves the club with our very best wishes," Warwickshire's Director of Cricket, Paul Farbrace said.

"Krunal was an excellent role model around the group and I'm sure the younger members of the squad will have learnt a lot from him on and off the pitch.

"Due to the short turnaround, we won't be signing a replacement, however, I'm incredibly excited to see our squad build on Sunday's excellent win over Durham,” Farbrace added.

India wasted so many matches on this overrated player. He's the definition of a bits and pieces cricketer. Going by the way he acts you'd think he's an ATG.

He has played 20 odd matches and most of them being bilaterals against weaker sides, so India hasn't wasted many matches on him.
He got whatever chances he had bcoz of performances in domestic and IPL.

One of the worst player to play international cricket for India in recent times. And less we talk about his fake attitude the better. :inti

We could have given those matches to his best friend Deepak Hooda instead. :91: :inti

There were so many young players that were itching to get a chance to play for their country and India decided to go with a 28 year old bits and pieces cricketer who had very little potential. Matches against weaker teams are like gold dust for young players because it gives them a chance to establish themselves.

I recently found out he is the brother of Hardik. Didn't know this.

Never really made his mark in international cricket.

Lets see if he can repeat these performances.

Krunal Pandya - the Finisher

LSG was in trouble after losing a couple of quick wickets. However, he stayed at one end and smashed 43* runs from just 22 balls against PBKS in IPL 2024.
